Tea Things Tuesday

There is so much in the world for us all if we only have the eyes to see it, and the heart to love it, and the hand to gather it to ourselves -- so much in men and women, so much in art and literature, so much everywhere in which to delight, and for which to be thankful. ~ LM Montgomery

Hello friends and Happy March! I am delighted you have stopped by!

March
The month of cold mornings and warm afternoons
when the Fairies weave rugs with flowers
adorning the meadows and roadsides with colour. ~
Edith Holden

Well, March may be here, but the fairies around here won't be weaving anything along our roadsides until probably May. Those of you who live further south, no doubt are enjoying the first sprouts and leafing trees but we don't really have a Spring here on the Island. Most of us call our Spring, Sprinter; which is part Spring, part Winter. It is fairly cold here until mid-May but once the snow disappears, I am doing the happy dance! I cannot wait to put away the winter boots and the heavy coats. Oh, don't get me wrong. I can enjoy a lovely snowy day but my body just feels better in warmer weather.

I will be sharing some of my tea things once a week, at least for a while, until I come up with some new things to blog about. When I have something else to share, I will also share that.
Most of you have seen these pieces today probably through my Tea Time Tuesday parties.

This particular teapot is one I found at our Anne of Green Gables Store in Charlottetown several years ago. She has pretty pink peonies adorning her and she's ready for Spring, as am I. It holds about four cups of tea.

This sweet teacup is called Chantilly Lace made by Skye McGhie and it is just one set of a few Skye McGhie pieces I have. Love the saucer!

The pink plate underneath the cup and saucer is vintage and made by Johnson Brothers; a favourite maker of mine. The wee teaspoon is part of my mother's silver which she passed on to me when she downsized. As most of you know, my mother passed away last August so I am grateful I have a few of her treasures.

Life is like a teacup to be filled to the brim and enjoyed with friends. ~ unknown

There are no treats for our tea today because my hubby is trying to cut back on sugar. But I will bake something once a month for him. Tea anyone?

What are you sipping from this third day of March?

  1. I am so happy to hear that you will be posting about "tea" weekly. It is always a pleasure to stop by and visit. This morning I am sipping some English Breakfast tea. My china is the china you are showing at the top of your header (Old Country Roses). The tea set collection you are sharing in your post today is very pretty. I am happy for you to have some mementos from your mother...those are sometimes the most special of all.

  4. Your teapot is a beauty, Sandi, and I do love the saucer of the pretty teacup. Isn’t it confiding time use your dear mother’s silver? I just had a cup of coconut vanilla tea. I’m trying to use my teas, like Margie does, before buying more. I’m happy that you’ll be posting every week. πŸ’•

  5. Hooray for the return of Tea Time Tuesday!

I'm admiring the lovely teapot's peonies. I don't see a lot of teapots adorned with these pretty flowers.

Today, we celebrated a co-worker's birthday at work with tea (a chocolate black tea) and chocolate cake (McCain's).

  6. Hi Sandi. I always enjoy your tea sets and seeing your china.
It's so nice that you have some of your Mom's.
I find we are seeing less and less posts on the internet with nice china, like yours.
I am cutting down on baking also. I did a lot to past the time this Winter.
    Take care. Thelma xo
Come Summer, I don't bake as much.

  7. Sandi,
I never tire of seeing your "Tea Things" because they are all so lovely as these that you shared today are! We have had unseasonably warm temps. here, in the low 50's, but we have had rain making it deary... I have almost all Winter and Valentine's decorations in the house packed away.... I have to do the Living room and hope to get that done today if not tomorrow as Joe is home today.... Once that is done, then I can start to decorate for Easter, which I am really looking forward to doing so as I dd not get to do it last year...I hope that you are having a great week!!
    hugs,
    Debbie

  8. I have just recently found your blog and I love your posts! Your beautiful china is a delight to see! I too love the Rose chintz pattern. I am not baking much these days either because we are trying to "shed our winter coats" 😁 Spring is starting to arrive here in Delaware.🌿🌸🌷

  10. What a beautiful peony teapot. I can envision the store you talk about - I fondly remember my visit there a few years ago. Sharing loveliness is one of the things I love about blogging.

  11. I LOVE that teapot and I LOVE peonies, which we don't have here in the south. I would love to have some. I enjoy tea time without sweets most of the time. Just a cup of tea poured from a lovely teapot is enough beauty and sweets for me. On the 3rd day of March I was literally sipping from a bowl of vegetable broth at the hospital as they had me on clear liquids following my surgery on March 2nd. I was not enjoying it, and was hoping that I wouldn't have to stay on clear liquids for long as that is all I had had for several days. Thankfully the next day they agreed to let me have some soft food and then I enjoyed a cup of hot tea with my breakfast of scrambled eggs, grits, and a delightful blueberry muffin! That was special to me!!!I could almost imagine it was served on a pretty china plate and with a pretty china tea cup instead of the hospital black plastic thermal ware to keep it "hot". LOL. You asked, so now you know! Have a lovely day. Spring is in the heart and the eye of the beholder.
