Blue Monday

It's Blue Monday again and I want to welcome you all to Sally's fun event. All kinds of folks who love the colour blue share their pictures and wares on this day and I hope you will check out the sites by clicking on the link http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ or the Blue Monday button on my sidebar.

Today I will finish up in my guest room and share a few other blues.

Some of you may have seen this already....The bed in blue and white.

A little round table dressed up in blue and white.
A painting my sister did many years ago with the Irish blessing on it.
A photo of Brackley Beach which is on our north shore.
This is a grouping of the pictures on the wall over the little round table. They look a little crooked, but they're not! The third picture is a print called 'Autumn Stream' by Stamm with a scripture verse from John 7:38 on it.

Now for the grand finale!
This is the outside of our home, with our rolling lawns and spacious yard for the grandchildren to play in......Just kidding.....Are any of you familiar with 'Anne of Green Gables' and the TV series 'Road to Avonlea'? Well, this is the hotel which they called the White Sands Hotel in the stories.

In reality, it is the Dalvay-by-the-Sea Hotel which is on the north shore, not far from where we live. We took a drive out along the shore yesterday because it was such a beautiful day and we took some pictures to show you. The Hotel is beautiful no matter which angle you look at it.

This house was built in 1895 by Alexander MacDonald, a wealthy businessman and one-time president of Standard Oil Company with John D. Rockefeller.
MacDonald, who was originally from Scotland, used this house as a summer home and every year he would bring his family and staff here and they would live in the residence until it was time to go back from whence they came, which I believe was Cincinnati, Ohio. Before he returned to the States every Autumn, he would throw a big party and invite everyone in the community. Very generous fellow, wouldn't you say?
Can you imagine spending the summer in this grand place with the beaches within walking distance? Dare to dream!
This is another shot of the Hotel with the Dalvay pond behind it. It is a very nice place to stay while visiting the Island and they serve up a very tasty menu too. Rumor has it, you can get Sticky Date Pudding with Toffee Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream on it. Yummy!
Too bad it's not open for the season yet. We have an Anniversary coming up. Are you listening, Hubby Darlin'?

Well, those are my blues for you this week. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
