A Little of This and That

I'm so thankful for friendship. It beautifies life so much. ~ LM Montgomery - Anne of Avonlea

Hello lovely friends! Hope you all had a good week.

How many of you viewed Anne of Green Gables on Monday night? I did enjoy it and I also enjoyed seeing the red transferware in Marilla's kitchen! Usually you see brown in a movie such as this set in the early 1900's. It was lovely to see red for a change!

This is some of my red collection above the patio doors in the dining room. And yes, I keep those lights out all year round.

If you visited my last week's tea post, you saw a very sparse red transferware table setting.

I had all kinds of plans for it. I was going to bring out my ceramic cupids I made and chocolate hearts, the works. But, I was sick! Yes, I was sick the entire Valentine's Day weekend and I forgot most of all the little touches I had planned to use for that tea setting.

The last two weeks I have been "under the weather" and I actually spent last evening at the ER and this afternoon at the clinic. Hopefully I'm on the mend after this!

We are in the depth of winter here on Prince Edward Island and I thought I would share a few random photos.

I don't know who took this but I thought it was adorable! If this is your photo, I will gladly give you credit for it. I'm glad I can enjoy chickadees all year round here. I enjoy watching them swoop from the trees behind our home to the feeder. Such entertaining little birds!

The end of December when my son was home for the holidays he went out to Brackley Beach. This is a photo from that day.

I thought this shot was unique in the way the wind had blown the sand across the snow giving it a marbled effect. Brrr! Not many on the beach that day!

The other day, this sweet little fox had been curled up in the snow just outside our back door. He and his mate made quite a picture. As you can see, we had been heavy with snow here until the past few days when we got a thaw.

My weeping caragana is to the left and a very large honeysuckle with white berries is to the right with pine trees behind.

I took this picture just before Mr. Fox and his Missus walked off into the woods behind our home. They made such a cute pair.

Now, let's go back inside where it's cozy and warm.

Time for tea!

Because I have been under the weather, it will be a simple tea today. Lemon ginger tea helps to settle the stomach and helps one relax as well.

I just have to share this darling little teacup Deborah at The Beautiful Matters sent me for Christmas. It is a Martha Cooke teacup.

She knows how much I love our little feathered friends. Isn't it sweet? Thank you Deborah!

Winter will soon be over so I am sipping tea from my cardinal tea-for-one set.

There is no mark on this set, just white porcelain adorned with a gold trim, cardinals and pine cones.

I thought my little chickadee and cardinal from my Avon bird collection could join us.

If you are cold, Tea will warm you.
If you are too heated, It will cool you.
If you are depressed, It will cheer you.
If you are excited, It will calm you. ~ William E. Gladstone

  1. Oh Dear Sandi! I'm so sorry to hear you have been so sick... I have been sick as well. I started getting sick on Valentine's Day and have spent the entire week in
bed. We must pray for one another Friend.
I am a serious lover of Red Transferware also and have a few pieces.
    Your's is gorgeous.
I also love all of the birds. We have chickadees year round in Illinois too.
Of course we have tons of beautiful Cardinal's, as it's our state bird.
I love our feathered friends so much that I have 2 pet birds... a cockatiel and a dove.
    Your "marbled" beach is breathtaking.
Please take care and drink lots of lovely, warm, good for you, tea.

    2. Oh I'm just enchanted with the cardinal and pine cone tea set. I have a lot of pinecone dishes - and nothing like that. What a perfectly wonderful set. I'm sorry you've been sick - it seems to be going around - I'm on my second week and so far (knock wood) I've not had to go to the ER. I am doing better and want to do some winter tea settings before spring catches me. Enjoy your tea.

  4. Dear Sandi:
What a lovely bird and Fox themed post. I am so sorry for your illness but very glad to hear you are better. That's that fun at all. You sure have some beautiful snow happening. I forgot about the new Anne as we are daily packing and painting, etc. Hopefully, it will be on again. Please take care and get plenty of rest! Prayers!

  6. I hope you will be well again soon, Sandi. I love your bird tea-cups and I am a lover of the chickadee, too. I think there are now about 40 that live right on our property. They are the sweetest of birds. Lucky you to spot these two beautiful foxes. We have some around but I have yet to see one. Enjoy your weekend, Deb

  7. Oh sweet lady, I'm so glad you're feeling better....the ER!
Your bird dishes are simply darling. The winter images are gorgeous and the fox picking out from the snow is so fun ! I'd be scared, though.
Feel completely better soon and take care, drinking hot tea.
    Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Fabby, our foxes here on the Island are quite tame. A lot of folks feed them and they almost become like pets. Thanks for your visit.

I missed Anne - I will have to wait until it airs again. I used to watch every episode of The Road to Avonlea.
I think I am going to have to take a page from your book and hang some of my red transferware on the wall - so pretty!

  18. I'm sorry I missed the Anne show on TV. Maybe I'll get to see it again. We don't have cable or satellite TV at all and miss a lot of good programs. I love the photo of the marbled snow on Brackley Beach. How beautiful! And how sweet is that fox in your backyard too. i enjoy tea every day still - sometimes 2 or 3 times a day! Have a blessed week ahead Sandi. Pam

  19. I also enjoyed the Anne of Green Gables remake, but the original version with Meghan Follows will always be my favourite. It was interesting to learn that the majority of the film was actually shot in Milton, and not on your Island!

The cardinal tea for one set is lovely and Mr. Fox is Fantastic! Feel better soon, Sandi!

  20. So sorry that you are under the weather, but hopefully you are on the mend now.
Love all you tea cups and birds. I love the birds and have so many hummers that they keep me busy everyday making their nectar. I need to purchase stock in sugar LOL . Love the chickadees also and we have some black capped ones here.

Love the pictures of the foxes. Thanks so much for sharing.
