The Colour of the Sea and the Sky....and Carnations for Tea Time

I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June. ~ LM Montgomery - Anne of the Island

Hello friends and welcome to another Tea Time! Can you believe it is June already? One can look forward to those "lazy, hazy, crazy days of Summer."

I love the scent of late Spring and Summer, don't you? There is something in the air, a warm balmy scent which is hard to describe. Sometimes it is laden with the scent of flowers and other times, freshly cut grass. I think, other than Christmas, it is the most romantic time of the year.

If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance. ~ Bern Williams

Summertime for me means walks on the beach with my hubby and I cannot wait to get out there and savour the warmth of the sand between my toes and the sound of waves lapping on the seashore. It's a most peaceful place. *Sigh*

My boys will soon be home too so I'm also looking forward to that.

What do you look forward to this Summer?

Now onto my tea....
I am sharing blue tea things today. A pretty Botanic Blue teapot, teacup, and creamer all made by Port Meirion.

All three of these pieces have an overall floral and butterfly pattern with tiny polka dots in the background; very summery in design. I also have a pink coffee mug in the same pattern but I won't share that today.

The teacup and creamer both have a wee butterfly just inside the rim.

Blue, the colour of the sea and sky.

Also on the table is a vintage pink depression glass teacup. Sorry, I forget the name of the pattern.

I have two of these cups which I found at an antique shop a few years ago. The pink, to match my flowers.

Last week's carnations have a bit of browning around the edges which gives them an old fashioned appeal and the other posies are the same shade as the carnations; sort of a peachy-pink. A frilly, fluffy bouquet for our tea table. Pretty?

Won't you join me for a cup of tea? I'm having Twinings Chai today. I always take mine black.

A cuppa and a lovely magazine.

Have a beautiful day everyone and enjoy this new season which is upon us.

I love things that bear the touch of time; chips and all - they're more beautiful than perfection. ~ Victoria magazine

  2. Lovely summery photos - but I can assure you that there is nothing warm and balmy about the air in England at the moment, it's cold, wet and windy! We are promised an improvement by the end of the week - I certainly hope the forecasters are right.

  3. Happy June Sandi! You and I are on the same wave length today: same beginning quote in our posts and drinking the same tea (Twinings Chai). I'm partial to blue teacups too and the floral pattern on your teaware is really pretty. So nice to see a bouquet of carnations. They are such long lasting beautiful flowers that deserve more respect. :)
I'm also excited about summer and all of its activities despite our current cloudy weather. Have a great tea week, Nora

  5. Hi Sandi! Your first day of June tea is so pretty withnyour lovely teaset. Your pink carnations have really held up and look so pretty on your table with the blue and white. The pink depression teacup matches your carnations! I'd love a cup of chai tea, but I must have milk in mine, along with some sweetener. Thank you for hosting and enjoy those walks on the beach with your sweetie.

  13. LOVE the beautiful lilacs in your blog banner and in your post today, Sandi Next to sunflowers, lilacs are my favorite flower. They're not only pretty, but they have a lovely fragrance too. I recently purchased a luncheon plate in the Rose Chintz pattern to go with a teacup I already had, so I'm happy to have a trio now. I thought of you when I bought it. Your Botanic Blue china is lovely. I love anything that's blue and white! Have a wonderful week! ~ Phyllis

  20. I think your Port Meirion is one of the prettiest blue and white sets, so light and feminine. I've seen the pink depression teacups at our antique mall but haven't purchased one = yet, anyways.
I know how much you love your boys being home and know you will enjoy your time with them - as well as walks on the beach which is great therapy.
Thanks for popping by my tea post which I do later in the week than yours, I'm happy we still keep connected Sandi. A couple of the girls will link a tea mosaic now and then which is nice for keeping in touch with them too.
Wishing you a happy June of sunshine, flowers and good tea memories my friend!

You blue tea tea sets really make me want to wander the beaches too... and I love depression glass, especially the pink ...I can't believe how robust your flowers are... 30. How very pretty everything is. Of course being a shorebird I love the beach photograph. There is something about the spicy scent of carnations which makes me feel nostalgic. I always feel better for having come for tea. Angels to you.

  31. Hi Sandi, oh, I love your photos this week. SO pretty. I never think of you and blue, but when you feature blue goodies, a love them! I love bleeding hearts. My grandmother had one on the side of her house and I always loved to go look at it. She lived in a hot climate, but the side was shaded and the plant grew quite well there. Hugs....
