Roses for A Blue Lady

Serenity is a solitary cup of tea; pleasure is sharing it with another. ~ Victoria magazine

Hello my lovely friends!

I have had a very busy month and it's about to get busier. With all my appointments and surgery coming up next week, I'm sure you can just imagine.

Today I am sharing these beautiful pink roses that I arranged in a container that some Easter hydrangeas came in.

The hydrangeas were this same shade of pink but they didn't last long so I plopped the roses in it and they look nice I think.

I'm not really blue and anyone who really knows me also knows that I prefer pink but my tea set is blue today. Hence the title of my post.

Every once in a while I bring out my Blue Willow teapot and teacup. They are such classics and the Old Britain Castles mixes well with them.

When you have flowers, books, and tea, you are never alone. ~ Alexandra Stoddard

And speaking of blue, I thought I would bring you up to date on my youngest son's cat that he adopted about a year ago.

Merlin is a Russian Blue and he was a few months old when he was found on the streets, frightened and starving, with a broken hip. They are not sure how the poor kitty came to be living on the streets. When my son went to the Humane Society looking for a kitten to adopt, Merlin stole his heart. Merlin had gotten neutered and had a cast on his hip. Actually, my son and Merlin both just celebrated their birthdays. Doesn't Merlin look like a contented kitty? He has grown into a very big cat and is great company. I love happy endings, don't you?

There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart. ~ Jane Austen

Well, that's my news for today. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Don't forget to count your blessings. I'm sure Merlin is.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Sharing from my heart ~ Sandi

  1. I like your tea and roses photos with the blue and white tea cups. Merlin is a handsome cat, working on having a long happy life after a traumatic rescue. I hope your upcoming surgery will be very successful.

  2. Your posts always have the most wonderful quotes! I'm going to start writing them down! I have a Old British Castles tea cup too, and I love it. The pink roses are lovely and go very nicely with the blue tea set!

Merlin is a handsome cat! What a gift your son gave him in bringing him home!

  3. Your blue teapot and teacups look so homey and very Anne of Green Gable-ish to me. I think Marilla might have enjoyed a Blue Willow teapot. Pink roses are my favourites. I'll be thinking of you as you prepare for your upcoming surgery date.

  4. What a sweet post Sandi and I know that your days ahead will be better ones because the "Lord is directing your steps and making them sure"! Merlin looks very contented there. Sometimes we think we would love a pet but we know the work and expense and say - not now. They can bring a lot of joy too! Your roses and table setting are lovely with your teapot!

  5. You have put together a beautiful pink bouquet! What a pretty shade of pink. I have a blue willow teacup (thrift store find), and I just love your sweet teapot! Such a charming set. Merlin looks like he has always lived a life of luxury. It's nice when a pet adoption works out so well. What a handsome cat he is!

  6. Those roses are gorgeous and so are the blue dishes. Especially the teapot. What an adorable cat. Good luck with your surgery. God Bless xo

  7. Today when I was at Sam's I saw the neatest magazine about roses and tea. I flipped through it and it was lovely. That said, your pics are better!

  8. Your blue and white transferwares blend together beautifully and look great with the pretty pink roses. I have a set of 10 Blue Willow tea sets acquired from various thrift stores. I don't really need another teapot, but I'd definitely bring home a Blue Willow teapot if it crosses my path during my treasure hunts.

Glad to hear that Merlin is doing well--he's the Anne of Green Gables of cats!

  9. Your roses, teacups and teapot and son's pretty kitty cat made for such was a wonderful post.

Funny I have been looking at pics of my Romeo kitty (RIP.) Been missing him lately. I think it's because the white daffodils that my husband planted on his burial site have bloomed.

    Have a blessed day.

  10. Sandi, those roses are gorgeous! What a lovely colour. Merlin is one fortunate kitty. I do hope all goes very well with your upcoming surgery. God bless you with peace and a great recovery and healing. Pam

  11. A most lovely post, Sandi. I missed your upcoming surgery announcement but whatever it is, I hope you sail through it. May your Sunday be blessed, too. Susan

  12. p.s. Sandi, just got caught up on your posts and it sounds like gallbladder problems have caused some difficult days for you. I will add to the blog friends' prayers that this passes quickly and that the upcoming surgery will be something you sail through. I love your positive attitude and optimistic outlook. Susan

  13. Yes, I am a pink person too, but every once in a while we need to let that beautiful blue shine! Continued prayers for your health and upcoming surgeries dear friend. xo Deborah

  14. You will be in my prayers Sandi! I'm sure you have a lot to get done before your surgery. Merlin sure is a handsome fellow, so thankful that he found a new and loving home! Your blue tea set is gorgeous, I love the Blue Willow designs. And those roses look perfect in the container you arranged them in! Hugs to you today :)

  15. Hi Sandi! The roses are lovely! And for me, blue and white is the best! Merlin is a glad he found the right rescuer! We will be praying for you with the upcoming medical issues. I know where your trust is, so rest on Him and live each day at a time...

  16. Love your blue willow teapot and teacups. Praying for your upcoming surgery. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  17. You know how I always love the quotes that you share, dearest Sandi. Your blue and white looks so pretty with the pink roses. Prayers are with you, sweet friend. Love and hugs, Kitty

  18. The roses look very nice in your vase... and great combination with the blue and white china. I hope your surgery and recovery go well.

  19. Hello sweet lady. I saw both you and Carolyn's comments on Victoria's FB page when they featured her gardens recently. I'm so happy she finally got the exposure she deserves for all the hard work they put into their property.
I haven't pulled out my Blue Willow pot for a while but the kettle's on and maybe I should join you for a blue tea.

  20. A lovely visit today, Sandi. Enjoyed those pretty roses and your tea set with Victoria at the ready for a nice sit down.

    Wishing you good days ahead...

  21. Sandi, what a beautiful post! Loved the flowers, the blue and white china, the cat, your sweet son who adopted a shelter cat with a broken hip, and the fact that you're getting all set for your surgery. Best wishes, Jean

  22. Merlin is a handsome kitty! Sweet story! Loved seeing your roses and the pretty blue and white.

  23. I think anyone who adopts an animal has such a good heart. Merlin looks very healthy now.
I also adopted a stray cat from my neighborhood where different neighbors was feeding him. I thought he needed a permanent loving home so I brought him in and we are best friends

  24. Sandi, I will keep you in my prayers for your surgery. I don't own any Blue Willow, but it is a classic. We've found some pieces in the estate sale I'm helping with, but it's not selling real well. Merlin sure does look like a contented kitty! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  25. Praying for you, Sandi! Love the pink roses. Merlin is a beautiful cat. He looks a great deal like Smokey, the resident cat at my dad's nursing home.

Trusting that your surgery will go well and that you will soon be feeling much, much better.

  26. Hi Sandi,
I must apologize for not visiting you sooner. I also haven't been blogging as much lately. Your blue and white china are just lovely and gorgeous rose. I am praying that you will be feeling well and blogging again soon. Blessings, Sweet Sandi! Karen
