Tea Time Tuesday

"Someone painted pictures on my
Windowpane last night...
Willow trees with trailing boughs
And flowers, frosty white,

And lovely crystal butterflies;
But when the morning sun
Touched them with its morning beams,
They vanished one by one."
Helen Bayley Davis, Jack Frost.

Welcome lovely friends to another Tea Time Tuesday!

Today I have some wonderful new tea things to share with you. My sweet hubby gifted me with some pieces of The Friendly Village by Johnson Bros. for Christmas and my birthday which I celebrated over the holidays.

The Friendly Village is such a charming pattern with its leafy border and quaint pastoral scenes. Each hand painted piece is reminiscent of warm family gatherings at Grandma's house and rural small-town beauty. The Friendly Village has been popular since its inception in the early 1950's.

Some of the pieces are vintage while others are new.

Would you like a piece of my cake?

Life should be savoured: Sipped like a cup of tea. ~ Author Unknown

Perhaps  some Sticky Date Pudding with hot Toffee Sauce...

"Drinking tea
the morning fog
drifts away." ~ Robert Gibson

Yum!

Happiness is sharing tea with a friend.

The lovely Christmas card in the photo below is from an original painting  by my aunt. She sends me a Christmas card every year featuring one of her paintings. The beautiful blue spruce trees are outside her bedroom  window.

UPCOMING PLANS~ Tea Time Tuesday's 2nd Anniversary is coming up on the 26th of January, so in celebration of that special occasion, I would like to do a theme that week. Since I love roses so much, I thought a tea theme of roses would be lovely.
Therefore, the week of January 23rd, it will be Rose Week here at Tea Time and I invite you all to share your favourite Rose themed tea things. So get out your best rose inspired china and let's party! It should be lots of fun!

ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE~ I am having surgery on Thursday morning, the 12th, so if you think of me, kindly send up a little prayer for me, would you? I would so appreciate it!
Hopefully, I will be back next week with a new tea post for Tea Time. In the meantime, I wish you a glorious day and a hot cup of tea with someone you love.

"O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Thy name in all the earth!" ~ Psalm 8:9

I am delighted you have stopped by today and I would love for you to join me for Tea Time Tuesday! Just share a piece of your teacup/teapot collection or a favourite mug. A poem, tea quote, or scripture verse would be most welcome! The TTT button on my sidebar is available for you to use in your post or place on your sidebar if you wish.

I was sorry to receive word from Wanda Lee that she and Pam will no longer be hosting their lovely tea parties. I always enjoyed their gracious hospitality and lovely photos and they will be missed. I wish them well and perhaps someday they will join us in blogland once again. God bless you ladies!

This week I am joining these lovely parties ~

  17. Sticky Date Pudding with Hot Toffee Sauce---brings back some great memories. I had it for the first time at Dalvay-by-the-Sea on PEI. When I got home I found the recipe and when my quilting friends come to my house, I make it for them. They are very impressed!

  31. Thank you Sandi for hosting. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, yummy looking cake. I'll be thinking of you on the 12th and sending a prayer up for you.
Your Aunt makes beautiful Christmas cards, or paintings.
Very young, I was when I set my eyes on the Friendly Village patter for the first time and each time I saw it in mother's cupboard I thought the same thing, "dark". I wish I had the opportunity to see it in my cupboard today, funny how things change.
I can do roses, thank you. putting the 23rd on my calendar. All the best.

  32. Happy Birthday to you! I hope it was wonderful. The cake sure looks yummy!
The Friendly Village collection is precious. What a sweet husband to find such a treasure.
You are certainly in my prayers and I do wish you a speedy recovery. I am looking forward to Rose Week.
I just LOVE the card from you aunt. She is an amazing artist. Blue Spruce is my favorite tree. When my oldest son was very little, we use to trek up the hill to find us the perfect blue spruce as our Christmas tree. The card is just amazing. What a special aunt.
Thanks for hosting the tea party.

  36. Dear Sandi - Blessings to you this teatime! How lovely your Friendly Village is. I passed up an opportunity to purchase quite a large set at a thrift shop here for what seems a steal - but was still our of budget for it being just prior to Christmas. I may check back - even two place settings for an intimate tea time would be lovely.

Your Teatime rose anniversary sound sweet and I know just what to feature!

However, I am very sorry to hear of your surgery. Will be praying that all goes well and you know the swift healing and comfort of the Lord through it. Be ye strengthened!

    Happiest of birthdays to you!!

    Joy!
