A New Tea for Tea Time Tuesday

A friend is one of the nicest things you can have and one of the best things you can be.~ Author unknown

Welcome, friends, to another Tea Time!

I have set my tea out on the coffee table which is covered with one of my favourite tablecloths.

Tea is instant wisdom, just add water. ~ Astrid Alauda

About a month ago, I won a Tea Giveaway from Marilyn at Delights of the Heart. She sent me two packets of Teavivre tea, a golden tip black tea, Dragon Well Long Jing green tea, as well as a cute book mark and card. Thank you Marilyn.

My tea today is one which Marilyn sent me, Teavivre's Yun Nan Dian Hong, golden tip black tea.  Won't you join me for a cup?

The liquid gold is poured into my cup, through the strainer, and the tea is delicious!

Dian Hong black tea, also known as Yunnan black tea, is one of China's most famous black teas. It has lots of orange pekoe in the dried tea, and brews into a wonderful golden coloured tea with a very rich taste and aroma.

My teapot is Royal Elfreda which I found at our Anne of Green Gables Store several years ago.

The posies appear to be peonies although they could also be roses.

The teacup is Chantilly Lace by Skye McGhie.

Tea purifies spirit, removes anxiety and nervousness, brings ease and comfort, and is conducive to meditation.~ Author unknown

The cup and saucer sit on a vintage Johnson Bros. plate and the silver tea spoon is also vintage. It is  Evening Star by Oneida which is one piece of a set which my mother passed down to me.

Happiness is sharing tea with a friend.

Someone very dear to me is celebrating a birthday today and I want to send my heart felt wishes her way. She always reads my blog so I know she will see this.

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.~ Jeremiah 17:7

Happy Birthday Auntie P! You are such a warm and generous lady who is much admired and loved a lot! You are not only my aunt but my very dear friend. Have a delightful day and I know Uncle Doug will take great pleasure in spoiling you! God bless you and enjoy your special day!

Next week, March 17th, is my Celebrate Spring ~ "A Bird Lover's Tea" party.

One of the many things I love about springtime is the return of the song birds so I am doing a Bird Lover's Tea this year. Let's bring out our little feathered friends adorning teacups, teapots, mugs, plates, bird houses/bird nests, ornaments, etc. Anything and everything with a birdie motif would be lovely.

Or perhaps you would prefer to do a green themed tea for St. Patrick's Day. That would be lovely too. To make it really fun, why not combine the two. Whatever strikes your fancy is welcome!

I am so happy when you join me for Tea Time and I hope you have enjoyed your visit here. Do you have a pretty teacup, teapot, coffee cup, or tablescape you would like to share? Perhaps a trip to a favourite Tea Room? Then please do share it with us. I wish you all a beautiful day!

Home Made Pancakes for HOME

Home is where you fit right in.~ Randy Alcorn

Hello friends and welcome to my HOME where my door is always open!

Did you make pancakes yesterday? I always make them on Shrove Tuesday and they were so good!

I have been using this same recipe for pancakes since I was a new bride. Once again, the recipe comes from my old Purity Cook Book.

I prefer home made pancakes to a mix because there are no preservatives and they bake up much thicker than a mix.

Pancakes
Sift together:
1-1/2 cups flour
1-2 TBSP sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Combine:
1 egg, beaten
1-3/4 cups milk
2 TBSP veggie oil

Beat together and add to dry ingredients. Beat only until combined. I always use an egg beater to do this.

Heat your griddle or saucepan to 380 degrees. Drops of water will dance across the pan when it's ready. Grease lightly.
{I didn't have to grease mine because I used a brand new coated pan which made it a breeze to flip them.}

Use about 1/4 cup batter for each pancake.
Bake pancakes until surface is covered in bubbles and the edges lose their gloss.
Turn and bake until golden brown.

Note: If the batter becomes too thick, just add a small amount of milk and stir.

Serve hot with butter and maple syrup or molasses. Makes about 12 - 4 inch pancakes.

If you don't consume all the pancakes, you can freeze them for breakfast or a snack. Oftentimes I double the recipe so I can freeze some.

There are several ways to serve these pancakes, as a main dish which I did. But you could also add 3/4 cup of blueberries to the batter or as a dessert pancake spread with jam, applesauce, or a cream filling. Roll up and sprinkle with icing sugar. Sliced strawberries and whipped cream are wonderful too.

I often serve baked beans with mine but yesterday I served them with an omelet filled with cheese, green pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Delicious!
How do you like to serve yours?

I have a friend who makes pancakes and freezes them for her son who just helps himself to a couple whenever he feels hungry. Whenever I freeze them I place a small sheet of waxed paper between them to keep them from sticking together and then place them in a freezer bag.

Thank you for visiting today. I always enjoy your company and invite you to stop by often. Have a beautiful day!

Lord, this humble house we'd keep
Sweet with play and calm with sleep.
Help us so that we may give
Beauty to the lives we live.
Let Thy beauty and Thy grace

Shine upon our dwelling place. ~ Edgar A. Guest
