Were you a Beatles fan? I was and my favourite Beatle was Paul.
I had his posters all over my walls when I was in my teens.
I left the Rock music behind years ago and these days, I prefer easy listening music; mainly Christian music, instrumental, and smooth jazz.
This afternoon my hubby and I were in the car, on our way into town to run some errands when he shoved in a CD. The music which started to play was very relaxing and the voice sounded familiar.
Hubby asked me who I thought it was and I kept thinking, I know that voice. It sounds like McCartney, but it can't be him, because he doesn't do jazz.
Being a lover of smooth jazz, I took to it right away. It was classy and relaxing. Finally, I said, "It sounds like Paul McCartney, but it can't be him because he doesn't do jazz."
Hubby grinned and said, it was Paul and that was his new CD.
What a treat! The old songs like, "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," "The Glory of Love," and "Bye Bye Blackbird," are just some of the songs on this new CD.
Apparently Paul McCartney has been wanting to do a CD like this for years. I'm glad he finally did!
If you like smooth jazz and you are or were a McCartney fan, you're going to love this new CD he has just released!
You know, I still like Paul McCartney. When he was on the Island a few years ago, he sat right down at a piano in the Hotel lobby where he was staying and began to play. The people there loved it and him. He's a very nice bloke!

Hi Sandi
ReplyDeleteYup, me too - Paul McCartney posters all over my teenage bedroom. I will have to look for this CD as I like more easy listening music now too.
This will make you laugh. Our nephew is getting married this summer and his fiancee said she really likes the music of an old group. Hmm, who are they I asked and she replied 'The Beatles' have you ever heard of them?
So, I'm excited to look forward to some good Beatles music at their wedding.

I missed out on the Beetles craze, but sounds like your hubby is a sweet & thoughtful guy to get that cd for you! I think it is interesting that many of the big names in the 60-80's are now doing cd's for Boomers in something other than rock~ Fun :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to look for this CD. My husband will love it. Our home is full of music -- his or others and a wide variety. After all, they say variety is the spice of life!
ReplyDeleteI loved the beatles, especially Paul,I will certainly be looking for this CD!
ReplyDeleteYes Sandi, I love Paul too and when I was a kid, he was my very fav Beatle, I collected bubble gum cards and exchanged with my girl friends. I also had a scrap book of them and of course all their records on 45s even. I love jazz too, so it must be great Paul's new record. Have a great weekend.

Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI heard his single, Valentine, on the Grammy's. Loved it. It reminded me of Michael Buble or Tony Bennett...
Thanks for the revue! I may have to pick this CD up...
Have a great weekend!

Debbie
I was just eyeing this up in Starbucks. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNo, definitely not! I once read in a British newspaper that when he was born his dad thought he was so ugly that he cried.
ReplyDeleteOOOhhh had no idea and I love jazz!
ReplyDeleteGoing to check that right out, thanks for the heads up, Sandi!!

Un blog molto raffinato e romantico!
ReplyDeleteCiao Luci@
I am and was a Beatles fan! He has always been my favorite of the four. I am so glad to know he has recorded a new CD of jazz. I think he could sing many different types of music. He seems just a very down to earth person even if he is one of the Beatles. Thanks for sharing! Happy Tea Party! Pam
ReplyDeletePaul Whoooo???!!! Just KIDDING, Sandi! My hubby seems to recall playing the Beatles first 45 record on the juke box in his parents' snack bar in 1965! The flip side of the record was Roger Miller's England Swings! I will look for Paul's new cd, for sure. How nice of your man to surprise you with it!
ReplyDeleteWhen we visited PEI in August we stayed in Charlottetown at the loveliest historic boutique hotel - there was a piano in the lobby and lots of framed photographs on it of stars who had stayed there. Would it have been The Great George by chance? I took tons of pics and I think my next blog post just may be about The Great George! You've inspired me! Thanks, Sandi, for the great tip.
