A Thankful Friday

Last night my son was in a car accident, but thanks be to God, he's alright....

Hubby and I had just gotten home from grocery shopping last night and our oldest son Jeff was at our house waiting for us. He had borrowed a truck from a friend and his father had promised to help him move a carpet into the basement of a house he and his wife are hoping to purchase.

There was a lot of black ice on the roads last night!
Hubby arrived home around 8:30 PM and we were watching a Christmas movie together when the phone rang at 10 PM. It was our DIL calling to tell us that Jeff had been in an accident and was enroute by ambulance to the hospital!
Jeff had returned the truck to his friend and was on the way home when the driver of the car in front of him had slammed on the brakes, and Jeff plowed into the back of him...
She needed for Hubby to go over and stay with the children while she went to the hospital in Summerside which is about a forty-five minute drive.

So I stayed at home with all sorts of morbid thoughts running through my head, and praying that Jeff would be alright! Hubby got home around 1 AM.
As it turned out, Jeff wasn't hurt, just a sore neck and whiplash, so they released him.
Their car is a write-off and he will miss work today.
He will no doubt be blamed for the accident because he ran into the back of the car. The law claims you must be in control of your vehicle at all times! So, his insurance will go up, he has lost his car, and he will lose a days pay because the company he works for doesn't supply benefits of any kind!
But at least he wasn't hurt or worse! For that, I am thankful!

The past two years have been very hard for my son and his wife. They have gone through many struggles and they didn't need this on top of everything else. But you know, I am so thankful that he wasn't hurt! My son may have lost his car, but it could have been much worse; he could have lost his life!
I don't know why the accident happened, but God protected Jeff last night and I know He will somehow turn this all into good!

So, yes, today, I have a thankful heart. My son is ok and everything will work out somehow. My dear Auntie who had a heart attack last week, is home and doing well.
I am thankful for many things today!
