Blue Monday

Good morning all you blue belles; it's Blue Monday!
Over the last number of weeks, I've kept my eye out for anything and everything blue. From signs, to flowers, to houses; I've photographed them all.
I hope you enjoy my little array of blues today, pretty much houses this week ~

Yesterday, Hubby and I stopped to enjoy a burger at our favourite Snack Bar "Shirley's." Shirley makes the best strawberry milkshake on the Island and real hamburgers. Hubby has his blue shirt on. There is a blue can to the right and Pepsi is in blue on the sign overhead.

While on the way to Shirley's we passed this lovely property with this little blue potting shed.
I thought it was so adorable with its yellow door and star.

On the way to Shirley's, we also passed this blue house, just newly built in the past couple of years.

Another blue house.

On the way to Victoria Park where we go to have our coffee, we passed a blue house with a little blue play house in the back yard. The lucky little girl who gets to play house in that! You can't tell from the picture but it has gingerbread all along the edge of the roof. Very cute!
Then there is our former Premier's home. A Premier in Canada is the equivilent to your American governor.
This home is so fancy with its gables and gingerbread trim, it reminds me of a wedding cake. It really is a spectacular home! It is now a Bed and Breakfast. This home belongs to an old friend of mine who I haven't seen in years. He and his family live right down on the water at Victoria Park. Sorry, I couldn't get any closer. But it is blue with a lot of gingerbread trim on it! That is water in the foreground. Then there is this lovely older home right in the City across from a little park where we are heading next.Blue flowers are in abundance here. Hubby, sitting on a bench at this little park which is one of several in the middle of the City. Our Provincial building is in the background. On the way home, we passed a home that once belonged to my neighbor. It was an old white farm house at one time and whoever bought the place, turned it into this lovely home with a wrap around porch. And it is blue! Isn't it wonderful? Hope you enjoyed seeing all my blue houses today. Please go pay our charming hostess Sally a visit at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ or click the Blue Monday button on my sidebar and check out all the other blue offerings. Enjoy your day everyone!

Spiritual Sundays

As I was pondering what to share with you for Spiritual Sundays today, I was sitting at the desk facing the clock which hangs on the opposite wall. This clock has been in our home since our children were small.
I have often thought about what that clock says and how we can apply it to our every day lives.
It has a very simple yet profound message on it.

"The closer we come to God, the closer we come to each other."

A man and a woman are holding hands and this is the caption on the clock.Initially, I think it was meant for a married couple but I like to think it would work in all our relationships! The closer we come to God, the closer we come to each other.....Think about it.

When Jesus came to earth, He set the example for us.

Please visit Charlotte and Ginger and all the other folks at Spiritual Sundays by clicking on the Spiritual Sundays button on my sidebar or the link http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/ Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Pink Saturday

Good morning Pinkies and "Happy Pink Saturday" to you all! Today, I have a few pinks for you to see.

The first is an angel that my son Joel gave me for Christmas one year. She has lace on her sleeves and her frock, spanish moss for hair, and pink crepe paper wings. There is some pink in her frock too. She holds her wreath by a pink ribbon. She's a cutie!
Then there is this white ceramic kitty that a girlfriend made me when Joel was born. As you can see, Miss Kitty has pink ears, a pink nose, and a very pink tongue. She has been in our home for over thirty years. Yesterday, I made an old-fashioned Gingerbread cake with my grandmother's Vinegar Sauce to pour over it. Very tasty! As much as I enjoy whipped cream with gingerbread, I find the cake is more delicious served with either the Vinegar Sauce or homemade pink strawberry-applesauce. It tastes wonderful with both! We enjoyed it with some candlelight and pink lemonade in my pink goblets. These dishes would normally fall into the red category, but they are really a pink floral pattern. I got the set just before Eatons went out of business. Most of them came from my mother as gifts at Christmastime. Won't you join us for some pink lemonade and Gingerbread? Just pour on some warm Vinegar sauce from my Rose Chintz pitcher or spoon on some applesauce from my little jam jar. Then, after your visit with me, please make your way over to Beverly's at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ for more pink treats today. Have a great weekend everyone!

It's A "Show Us Your Roosters Party"

Cock-a-doodle-doo & Hello everyone!
I am joining all the participants at Bella Vista for Barb's "Show Us Your Roosters Party." Seems there are a lot of bloggers out there who love this cocky morning greeter! I know I do. I have a few around my home and here they are....
It is hard to tell, but this little rooster is in a shadow box which hangs by my kitchen sink.
A rooster plate....
Whoops, this is not a rooster, but she is part of the family! She is made of metal as are all my feathered barnyard friends and she just adds a hint of country charm to the kitchen window.

This rooster and chicken sit on top of my microwave. I found these at Homestead, one of my favourite stores.

A rooster basket of croissants. This is my favourite fella and he knows it! This is where he usually sits but he does get moved around from time to time. He is very heavy and handsome too.
He was a rusty brown when I got him and I took a can of paint and sprayed him white. He looks so much better now. Roosters are very vain creatures, aren't they? He knows he's looking good! Here he is again, showing his other side. He just loves getting his picture taken! He's a very conceited rooster but he really can't help it; he is quite handsome! Thank you Barb for hosting this fun party! My rooster thanks you too! Thanks for joining me and I hope you will take a peek at all the other participants by clicking on the link http://barbsgoodlife.blogspot.com/ All the participants are listed on Barb's sidebar. Have a wonderful day everyone!
