Spiritual Sundays

Hello friends and welcome to another  Spiritual Sundays with our lovely hostess Charlotte. Please visit this weekly meme, a place in Blogland to minister and get ministered to.

The other day we passed a church and the sign read, "A sharp tongue can cut your own throat." I thought it rather crude but it does make a statement. Another reminder to make sure your words are sweet, because you may have to eat them one day!

So, let's talk about the words we speak. God's Word tells us, "Let your speech be always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how to answer each one." - Colossians 4:6

Another verse reads, "...Let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God." - James 1:19-20

Proverbs 15:1 says, " A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
Yet another verse says, "The tongue of the wise brings healing." - Proverbs 12:18

James says, "No one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God."

How we speak, says a lot about our character. Charles Spurgeon said, "A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts ... not on marble."

God desires for His children to speak gracefully, reflecting the beauty of our Saviour, and so ministering to those around us. He wants us to be a blessing!

My hope is that I am a blessing today. I would never want to offend anyone by what I say.

EVERY TIME WE SPEAK, OUR HEARTS ARE ON PARADE.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and God bless you!

  2. The way we talk reflects upon our relationship with Jesus. If others see Jesus in us, they will want to learn from us. I like this post very much, thank you for sharing!

  5. This is beautiful, Sandi. How true the tongue can be such a source of comfort or such a destructive force. No wonder there are so many scriptures referring to the tongue. Thank you for sharing these thought provoking scriptures and thank you for the nice comments about me and Spiritual Sundays.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte
