Spiritual Sundays

Hello friends~ Today I am happy to be joining Charlotte and Ginger for Spiritual Sundays. Please visit these ladies and their participants here: http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

Years ago, my hubby and I had a Young Adult ministry which we called Rootz. We had our own worship band and I had designed the t-shirts. They were forest green embellished with a picture of the cross and  roots growing beneath. Our motto from Jeremiah 17: 7-8 was also printed on it.

We ministered to an interesting group. There were drug addicts and abusers of alcohol while others were brought up in Christian homes but had not made a commitment to Christ or were cold in their relationship with Him.
They were exciting years when we saw many young people turn their lives around for the Lord.

Now years later, most of these young people are married with families of their own. Most are living for the Lord and are bringing up their children in the ways and knowledge of the Lord. This is a great blessing to us!

My hubby and I spent years in the Ministry and now we are leading quieter lives with only a Bible Study group and Sunday School classes to lead. Once in a while my hubby preaches in the odd service.

So, are we sitting on the shelf? Are we all washed up just because hubby isn't in the pulpit on a regular basis any more? Never! Young {and older} people still seek us out; especially my hubby. He's like a magnet, you see!

We find ourselves in yet another season of grace. This is a time in our lives where God is still teaching us and continues to grow us into the servants He wants us to be. We are still keeping our eyes on the prize and when He wants to use us, we are available.

Are you feeling useless or all washed up? Never fear for our Lord still has work for you to do!
One dear old saint who was a member of our congregation just went home to be with Jesus. She was 99 years old. As long as she had breath, she ministered to others even from her chair in the nursing home. You are never too young, too old, or useless to bring glory to God!

"Blessed is the man who trusts
in the Lord
And whose trust is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree
planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a
stream
And will not fear when the heat
comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a
year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit." ~ Jeremiah 17:7-8

Thank you for your prayers. I am scheduled for a biopsy this coming Friday July 8th at 9:00 AM. Blessings to you all. Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone.

Sharing from my heart~ Sandi

  1. Hi sweet friends!

What lovely post that is hitting very close to home. God has brought me to a queiter place this past year and has kept me mindful of relationship with him and others right now in my life.
Thanks for the update I will be in prayer for your biopsy. I do have an answer to prayer...hubby found a job locally after 10 months of commuting 2.5 hours home on weekends. We were also facing a possible move that we didn't see us making. God is so good!
    Hugs and love!!!

  2. HI Sandi,
Oh, I wish my dad could meet you and your hubby in person. He'd love to hear all about your ministry days. Well, what can I say ...you are still ministering , even if on a smaller scale :) :) I really enjoyed hearing about this. Oh, just had a thought, that you minister in ways you probably didn't expect, via sharing what your passionate about here on-line...God, tea, flowers, cute grandchildren, etc ;) :)

That Scripture from Jeremiah is wonderful. I'm going to copy it and post it to my Facebook status today :) :)

I'm praying for your biopsy!!! Hoping for a good outcome and trusting God all way because He cares for all of us :) :)

I'm going to the grocery store this morning to buy some food. Java chip ice cream is calling my name :) :) Have a great weekend, Sandi. You recently celebrated Canada Day, too, right? :) :) :) I hope that was fun :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  3. I like the Rootz logo that you designed, and I agree there is always work to be done, and help to be given, and the joy in Jesus to be shared. I pray that the biopsy has happy results for you, dear blog friend.

  4. Seasons change, don't they? I am facing this as my kiddos are finished with homeschooling so my ministry at our co-op has come to an end. But, God is always opening doors to serve Him.

I'll pray for you this week as you anticipate and undergo your biopsy. These things are frightening by their very nature but are so often benign. If it happens to be otherwise you are in great hands....our Father will guide you through each step you'll need to take. Please let us know.

    Blessings.
    Becky

  6. Yes, Sandi, I am a firm believer in seasons - and the Lord uses us in His seasons all of which possess the ebb and flow of rest and race. I've had those very busy seasons, and then times of quiet to drink in refreshing, learn anew, and pour out smaller and more precious oils of His Spirit.

I see you have a challenging season to weather. Know He Who has called you shall sustain you for all good things and beauty - and we who love you shall keep you before Him in prayer.

Be ye blessed by His healing hands!
    Joy!

  9. I just found and am following your blog. I get so excited to see how many women have blogs that have Our Lord in their hearts. When you think about it....what a wonderful movement the Lord has found through blogging. What I love the most is that our fellow bloggers aren't afraid to share the word of the Lord on their blog. I don't know whats going on with your biopsy but I am PRAYING for a positive out come. May you always walk with the Lord. http://twotulipstalking.blogspot.com/

  10. Oh, this I know is so true. Even when I couldn't shower or get to the bathroom by myself, He still used me. He never saw what I couldn't do anymore, but He used what I had left!
It's the devil telling you that your useless because he wants you to stop doing what you're doing.
What you are doing right now is what He wants you to do- and we all have the chance daily to reach out to people.
They still seek your hubby because God sends them to him, knowing he is a good servant.
    Hugs- Tete

  12. I love this Sandi. When I wrote my story....I remembered this elderly black man, a recovered alcoholic who loved Jesus. He couldn't get out of his house so I used to visit him and he spent hours telling stories....stories that pushed me to live my best life. I don't know if he ever knew how much his life impacted mine. Hope your weekend is the absoltue best.

  19. Beautiful post!! God really does work in mysterious ways, to help us stay on our path of service and helping others. Since my accident, I am learning I am still here, because I have much more work to do for HIM and he has given me a wonderful precious gift, to share with others, that if it were not for my accident I would not have.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that the doctors will be guided during your procedure with blessed hands and that you will receive a clean bill of health!!! Stay strong my friend, all will be well!!! Your blue bird in your tea setting is looking over you... xo HHL
