Peach Preserves

'Evening everyone~ Do you like Peach Preserves? I do! They kind of land in the category of comfort food with me. In the Fall or the middle of the Winter, they taste really wonderful on homemade biscuits or scones.
The batch I made this year is just a simple recipe but I threw in a few cut up marachino cherries to add some extra colour. Makes it prettier, I think. I usually make Mustard Pickles too but since I had a couple bottles left over from last year, and a generous friend brought me four bottles of hers, I decided not to make them this year. I don't exactly enjoy making them because there is a lot of cutting and the onions bother my eyes.

These days, I'm starting to purchase the ingredients for my fruit cakes. What about you? Have you made any preserves or pickles this year?

  3. Peaches are one of my favorites, but haven't canned any for about 20 years...I do, however, find homemade preserves at the Farmers Market...so much better than grocery store preserves. Love your jars, too!

  4. Well Sandi I am ashamed to say, I have never made preserves or jelly, etc.

I think it may be too late to teach this old dog new tricks.

    Keep up the good works.

  5. I'm sooooo embarressed to say that I know absolutely NOTHING about canning ANYTHING!

I hope I learn SOMEDAY. Looks like work but lots of fun and rewards later.

    Hugs to you...I'm soooo impressed!
