Happy Thanksgiving to All My Canadian Friends!

I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion. Henry David Thoreau

Hello dear friends! This year my bird bath pumpkin is a sweet Cinderella pumpkin instead of the usual orange pumpkin I have displayed in previous years. Don't you just love the wide varieties of pumpkins we have now?

The birdies can still get a drink from the birdbath because there is room in there for them to get water.

On the table are some blue and white transferware pieces. It has been cool the past few days so the fire is going.

This coming Monday is our Canadian Thanksgiving and I have made the usual pies and a War cake.
We will be having dinner out at a restaurant because I took another fall the other day. I do however have a turkey in the oven and I will make some gravy for hot turkey sandwiches later.

Our middle son and his family are coming from New Brunswick to join us and our oldest grandson who lives about ten minutes away will be joining us as well. Our oldest son is spending the weekend in Ontario with his two other boys so he won't be joining us. Alas, our youngest son lives in the States so he won't be here either. But it is lovely to have some family with us this year.

Thanksgiving is of course a special day set aside to give thanks for all the many blessings in our lives. Good food, loved ones, and the precious memories that have played a part in shaping who we are. Our Heavenly Father has ordained them all.

I wish all my Canadian friends a very Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless you all!

It is not what we say about our Blessings, but how we use them, which is the true measure of our Thanksgiving. unknown

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, Sandi! I am sorry to hear that you have taken another fall. Praying for your healing and strength to return. So glad you will have family with you for your special holiday meal, even if you do have to go to a restaurant. We are considering other options for our Thanksgiving this year also, which isn't until November 25th here in the states. I will be having a cervical spine fusion on October 25th, and I am not sure if I will be ready to host any big Thanksgiving dinner even if it is a month from the day of my surgery. I am playing it by ear, as they say, and we shall see how things are going as we get closer, but I've already put out the word that maybe we need to have another option this year. I love your beautiful blue transferware and the tiny pumpkins decorating the table..with that fire in the fireplace in the background...so lovely! And I am sure the birds are enjoying having some decorations in their birdbath too!! It's such fun to decorate for the different holidays and seasons...and like Anne of Green Gables said, "I'm so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers"...(or something like that?) Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving with your family, and please take care of yourself. May God richly bless you and keep you day by day.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving Sandi! My daughter is currently in Montreal on business and will have to stay an additional day because of your holiday. :-) I don't think she minds. She is enjoying the cooler weather up there.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving, Sandi. I'm sorry to read that you had a fall, but I'm so glad that you got together with your family at a restaurant! We had a fun time together with our children and grandchildren today - 13 of us around the table. Such a blessing. We're so thankful for God's goodness.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving, Sandi!

Glad you're able to celebrate with your family! The pies and war cake sound delicious!

I'm admiring your Blue Willow teawares. I'm also a big fan of the variety of pumpkins. I especially like the teal, silver, pink, and purple pumpkins. I bought a DavidsTea Nordic mug because it had purple pumpkins!

  9. Oh Sandi, I am so sorry you fell again. Are you ok? Is it serious? Is there something causing your falls? I will keep you in my prayers.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. You had a fire going and it was almost 90 degrees today. It's such odd weather we can hardly believe it! I had already put away my hummingbird feeders when it turned cold - but that cold didn't last. Golly I remember going to football games in the snow in October growing up. This is just bizarre - and I am not complaining......no ma'am!

Beautiful pictures. Enjoy your family time. These get more precious as we grow older.

  11. The pumpkin in the birdbath is so cute! I've never seen that done before. Your blue and white transferware is accented perfectly by the orange pumpkins. Happy November!
