All About Roses for Tea Time Tuesday

But friendship is the breathing rose, with sweets in every fold. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Welcome to Tea Time Tuesday ladies! There are eleven days until Spring and little by little, the mountains of snow are going down. The water table here on the Island should be excellent this coming summer.

I am longing to smell my roses but it will be June before they bud.

If only there could be an invention that bottled up a memory, like scent.
And it never faded, and it never got stale.

And then, when one wanted it, the bottle could be uncorked, and it would be like living the moment all over again.  ~ Daphne du Maurier

In the meantime I can enjoy roses from the grocery store. This bouquet of pink, white, yellow, and peach blooms was a good bargain.

The sweet little bunny was a win from Celestina Marie a few years ago. Isn't she adorable! She has hand painted roses and a jewelled flower upon her head.

For today's tea party I am featuring some china tea/coffee mugs adorned with roses.

The first one is Aileen Morley's Classic Rose made by Dunoon

It is adorned with lovely pink roses on a white background, and mint green borders on the top and bottom. The beautiful golden scrolls make it a very attractive cup.

I love the shape and how they have carried the pattern on to the handle. This cup is as light as a feather and a pleasure to sip from.

I have two of these china cups/mugs which are made by Creative Tops Ltd.

They feature the roses painted by Pierre-Joseph Redoute and have Kew Royal Botanic Gardens stamped on the cups.

I have several pieces that go well with this pattern.

As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round. ~ Ben Hogan

Salted Caramel tea from David's Tea is what I am having today. It is a black loose leaf tea and I am using the tea strainer Hubby gave me for Christmas. It fits perfectly into the cup.

A little romance with one’s tea is good for the soul, I think…don’t you! ~ Unknown

This tea goes well with Fudge squares which will be our tea treat today. This is my mother's recipe and I haven't made them in ages. I had almost forgotten how good they are. I will be making them again soon.

The tray on which I am serving the squares is Skye McGhie Coventry Rose which is a good match to the Redoute rose mugs.

If I had a rose for every time I think of you, I'd be picking roses for a lifetime. ~ Swedish Proverb

Next week I will be hosting a St Patrick's Day and the First Day of Spring Tea Party

It will be a combo party to celebrate both occasions and I will be sharing a green theme. You may like to share some green yourself.

The sweetest flower that blows,
I give you as we part.
For you it is a rose,
For me it is my heart. ~ Frederick Peterson

Wishing you all a beautiful day and do stop and smell the roses.

I am sharing this with the following parties ~

  3. Hi Sandi. The roses are beautiful! I love to look at roses, but don't like the rose scent. Wierd, I know! Love your Dunoon mugs...we used to carry Dunoon in our antiques and tea bricks-and-mortar store...but you have to order a gross of mugs at a time! The other mugs are so pretty too...from Kew...a favorite place to visit on our UK trips. Have a lovely week. Thanks for hosting and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  9. I can't wait for the roses and peonies this summer but I must say the bouquet from the store is very pretty.
Celestine does beautiful work and I remember when you won the bunny. I haven't had homemade fudge for a long time, my dad used to make it all the time at home.
I purchased some salted caramel tea in Florida and I like it, I must try David's too - nice strainer the hubby gave you!

I am so happy to have been able to link to your post today. While not strictly about china, I have written about the efficacy of a cup of tea!
