For Those of You Who Dream of Snow!!

New Years Eve, we had ourselves a blizzard. Something like 50 or more centimeters of the white stuff fell, accompanied with very high winds. Many New Years celebrations were cancelled although there were some who braved the oncoming storm, including one young man who left his party on foot and got lost.
They found his body later down by a river, in the opposite direction from whence he should have gone.
My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was only 18 years old!
As you can tell from the window, it was nasty!
Most New Years Days, I have friends dropping in to help me celebrate my birthday, but this year I spent a quiet day with my hubby and my youngest son who was home from university for the holidays. We just spent a cozy day indoors. I couldn't help but think about that young man who would never enjoy another birthday.
The bushes beside this baby barn are over a man's head, so that gives you an idea how much snow fell.

This big bank adorns the front of our home. The dear little chickadees were brave enough to weather the blizzard and find food in the bird feeder in front our home. I was surprised to see them out in the high winds. I was certain they would have sought refuge until the storm blew itself out. I tried to get pictures but as you can tell from the photo through the window, you couldn't see very much.

It is hard to see but the snow is almost up to the bottom of the bird feeder in between the two pine trees.
So, for those of you who live in the southern States and Lorie who lives in Hawaii, be thankful you don't have to contend with this!
I don't mind a little bit of snow; it can actually be quite beautiful. In fact I love winter scenes, but this amount, we can do without, especially when people lose their lives in it!
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
May we all enjoy PEACE in the coming year! God bless our families and friends.

I guess this was the year for snow. Here in the P.N.W we had record snow, they say the most in 40 years. How very sad the something so beautiful can be the cause of such tragdey.
