Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. ~ Edith Sitwell
A cheery good morning dear friends and welcome to my little cottage!
A funny thing happened to me last week! Monday evening we had to change the batteries in my keyboard and we couldn't get the second battery out. It was stuck solid and simply wouldn't budge. We tried everything to get it out and no luck. Hubby took it to a computer store and they couldn't get it out either. Seems the battery had corroded and I might have to break down and purchase a new keyboard. I wasn't happy about that! Anyway, Hubby happened to mention our dilemma to a few guys at work and one of them suggested he bring the keyboard in the next day and he would attempt to get it out. He worked on his breaks and that Thursday evening, he texted Hubby to let him know he had removed the battery. Was I ever happy! So, I was without my computer for several days and did I ever miss it! Has anything like that ever happened to your keyboard?
It is a very cold but bright sunny day here on Prince Edward Island. It's a good day to stay inside and enjoy the comfort of home with perhaps several cups of tea or coffee.
It is time to tuck away the window display that I had out for Christmas. But before I do that, my wee china deer that my mother gifted me with years ago is making one more appearance.
I love figurines and ornaments! I especially love those that have a story behind them.
Wintertime is the time for home, and a nice cup of tea in January is so welcome! Won't you stay and join me?

My cups and plates are Victorian Chintz made Burleigh of Staffordshire, England; a gift from my cousin, Val.
This mismatched cup and saucer are just pieces that I put together. Red/pink transferware looks so pretty in each other's company, don't you agree?
The teapot is called Valencia and I love the shape!
Tea towels make a cozy table covering on which to serve my tea.
I made cupcakes for the grandchildren but I have lots to share. Would you like one with your cuppa?

Wintertime on the Island kind of dictates to us what we can do this time of year. We take each day as it comes and we try to make the most of it.
Well, that's my post for this week. Most of this is a re-post because I didn't have time to do a new one. I hope you all have a marvellous day and thank you for joining me.

Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI so apologize for not stopping by sooner but it was one crazy Christmas Season and then on Christmas Day, I got sick and it lasted for almost 2 weeks!! You know that I have always loved your red transferware dishes!! Simply stunning. I hope that Winter on your beautiful Island will not be too harsh.... This is my last Winter working and even though I do love snow, I am praying that there will be no more snow til next Winter because I am so tired of having to drive in it as hospitals do not close....
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!!
Hugs,
Deb
I always love your wonderful quotes! And the Victorian Chintz tea cups are wonderful, and so is that lovely teapot!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week Sandi!
I am glad to hear your battery situation has been resolved. Such a thing has not happened to me, thankfully. It would have been a great shame to need buying a new keyboard because of a stubborn battery.
ReplyDeleteToday I'm taking down the rest of our Christmas decorations. It feels time now, but I have so loved our little tree all decorated this year. It was true blessing of comfort and joy.
Wishing you a beautiful week ahead, Sandi!

Wonderful teaset in your adorable blog!Feast for the eyes and balm for the soul!Blessings!
ReplyDeleteDid your hubby's co-worker explain how he got the battery out? I use a laptop at home, and a desktop with a keyboard at work. Coincidentally enough, my work keyboard has started flashing the "low battery" sign...
ReplyDeleteI took down my Christmas decorations last Saturday. While I enjoyed my tea-themed tree, it was nice to have the house "back to normal" again.
Your red and pink transferwares are beautiful and perfect for the next holiday: Valentine's Day!
Oh- I am so sorry about your keyboard but glad that hubby's friend was able to get the battery out!! Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat little deer is dear-extra special because it is from y9our mom. I am already ready for spring here. Sadly, it is at least 4 months off for us. xo Diana
I like your red transferware Victorian dishes. What a beautiful teapot. I'd love one of those cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Eastern Townships, South of Montreal, for the Winter months with my sister. I don't go out much, it is very slippery and cold.
I'm happy you got your computer battery problem solved. You made me think, do I have a battery in my laptop. I have to inquire about that. I charge it with electricity. Take care Thelma..
Beautiful Victorian dishes, Sandi, love them all and the roses and reindeer, oh just all of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that your hubby's coworker solved the issue of your corroded battery, Sandi. We get so attached to our electronics, don't we? It's hard to be without a computer!
ReplyDeleteYour tea today just warms my winter heart. How I love red, and your tea pieces look so pretty together on your table. The deer is such a sweet reminder of your mom, and that centerpiece is so pretty. I love that quote by Edith Sitwell...so true. Have a beautiful week, my friend. xx
Sandi, so glad they got the battery out of the keyboard . I know thst had to be aggravating to say the least . I adore your little deer . How precious and more so since it was gifted to you from your mama . I have a beautiful blue jay that sits on my corner shelf in my kitchen that was my granny’s . I just love it . I hope that you have a tea-totally beautiful week . Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post. I pretty much sobbed when I put so much of my Reds away. And this post just filled my heart with red glee! Grins, and of course red roses are the best excuse! Grins, and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Sandi! Winter is a time to enjoy being home, and just enjoying the coziness that home offers! We have had a lot of gray days here, but thankfully the last few days the sun has come out, and it is so joyful when it does! I adore your lovely pink/red transferware china, so beautiful, and that sweet little deer adds the perfect touch to your setting! Enjoy many cups of hot tea in your gorgeous dishes, and the coziness of winter... spring will be along before long! So thankful the issue with the battery got resolved by your hubby's friend at work, what a blessing! Always enjoy my visit with you, blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat first Edith Sitwell quote expresses winter's focus so well. We do all we can to stay cozy and comfortable. Tea is drunk by the gallons! Your transferware is so pretty. The deer figurine from your mom is a sweet thing that adds whimsy to the scene.
ReplyDeleteStay warm, Sandi, and enjoy the day.
It's been a busy week, so I'm just now popping in. Sorry about your keyboard, but glad it finally got fixed. The biggest problem I've had with my keyboard is spilling a cup of tea on it. Not a good idea!! Had to go get a new one. Now I make sure my cup of tea is on a different table altogether while I type. Love your little deer. He is so sweet. The dishes are beautiful. Especially the teapot. I love that you have so many different teapots and cups/saucers. Where do you keep them all? Do you store some away or do you have a china cabinet that holds them all? Just wondering. I know mine are scattered between several different china cupboards, kitchen cabinets and shelves. But I know I don't have near the collection that you have. Would love to see it all together sometime! That could be quite a display!! Have a warm and cozy weekend...and take care of yourselves in the wintry weather. We are pretty warm still in Florida, compared to the rest of the country, but it was in the low 40's this morning, which still makes for a brisk walk!! I love it. Blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteSO glad that you were able to fix your keyboard... I’ve had that same problem with my exercise bike ... corrosion can really ruin a machine...However you’ve been blessed with a fix.... It truly is hard to pack away all the Christmas decorations... and especially when they are as cute as your sweet little deer...for me it’s the bright red Santa’s ... Your Rose Chintz looks beautiful as always , red ware is one of my favourites, plus you photography your table settings so beautifully ... Hopefully you have weathered the winter storm... We didn’t get it as bad as originally predicted, but I’m sure in your area it was much more extreme... We are however, digging ourselves out of quite a snowfall...Take care Dear Sandi and say warm and cozy...Big Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh my, thank goodness you were able to resolve the keyboard issue! Crazy when our things don't work! Your Victorian Chintz tea cups are absolutely beautiful and love the teapot! Awww, what a precious little china deer must warm your heart, so special. I love figurines too and they are priceless, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet day~
