No Place Like Home

I am grateful for the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and floors that need waxing because it means I have a home. ~ Author unknown

Hello my lovely friends and welcome to No Place Like Home; a blog party where you are invited to share all your home and garden posts. A place to share your imagination, wonderful ideas and gifts with others.

There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life more beautiful for others. ~ Mandy Hale

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends! I hope you enjoy every minute.

We just enjoyed a wonderful long weekend celebrating Canada's birthday. Canada is 149 years old. Next year will be the big one because our glorious country will be 150 years old.

Hubby and I spent Canada Day on the beach. It was such a beautiful day.

Our beaches stretch for miles and there are any number of spots to relax or take a long walk.

The sand hills are kept roped off to protect our wildlife. Tourists and other folks who pay no attention to signs often climb the hills for a view of the beach. You can get quite the view from up there. When my guys were growing up the sand hills were free to roam and they had a lot of fun playing on them. King of the Mountain was one of the games they played.

Once your feet have touched the warm sun drenched sand of the seashore you will never be the same. ~ Patsy Gant

You all know how much I love the beach. It is one of my happy places and Hubby and I practically live there in the summertime. The Island blesses us with so many splendid beaches and this is yet another one.

I love how the tide creates warm puddles of water just right for little ones to splash in. A perfect spot for an afternoon of fun! This picture I borrowed from a friend. This is his sweet little family enjoying the day at the beach also on Canada Day. Stunning, isn't it?

The Beach... the only place where salt lowers the blood pressure.

After our afternoon at the beach we came home and had a barbecue. I made a yummy Strawberry Banana Trifle for dessert.

Last week's party served up a plethora of ideas and recipes. They were all splendid and thank you so much for sharing. I am honoured that you linked up to my party. What a wonderfully talented group of ladies you are!

This week I'm sharing the post that received the most clicks from last week's party:

Kitty @ Kitty's Kozy Kitchen  shared her cooking camp with her adorable grandchildren and a recipe for her wonderful Red Velvet Doughnuts with red, white and blue sprinkles. Yum!

Congratulations, Kitty!

Now let's see what you are creating in your home to make it a cozy place to come home to for your family, your friends, and yourself.

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Lord, this humble house we'd keep
Sweet with play and calm with sleep.
Help us so that we may give
Beauty to the lives we live.

Shine upon our dwelling place. - Edgar A. Guest

  5. Ah, the beach. There's nothing quite like it. I only get to it once or twice a year, so it is doubly special when I do. So happy for you that you get to spend so much time there. And those little inlets of shallow warm water are perfect for little children. What a nice way to spend Canada Day!
Thanks for the party, Sandi; have a lovely week. xo Deborah

  10. Having lived in Florida for 20 years, I, too, love the beach. Now, though, I live in a landlocked state, so I don't get there very often---the last time was a trip to Florida in November 2013. (I'm overdue for a beach fix, don't you think?)

Your island is beautiful. I think it would be rather like paradise living on an island.

Thank you so much for hosting this lovely party every week.

    Love and hugs,
    Patti

  14. Sandi,
Thanks so much for hosting! The beaches are stunning. I wish I did not have Sun Sensitivity from my Auto Immune disease because I used to vacation every year at the beach but now, I would not be able to stay out in the sun for more than an hour before becoming sick.
Happy Belated Canada Day to you!
Thanks so much for hosting each week!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  19. The beach...the only place that lowers the blood pressure! I love that and when I have my blood pressure taken, I always think of the beach with my little granddaughter. No wonder my readings have been so good! Happy Canada Day to you, my friend!

  26. Ohh the beach... how I miss it! So nice that you can get out and enjoy it on the beautiful days of sunshine! Loved the pictures of the kids playing in the salt puddles... and of course the quote - the only place salt lowers your blood pressure is at the beach - I love that! Have a blessed day my friend... June has been a blur for me, so much going on... a trip to northern BC and Banff, and our son's graduation... hopefully things will settle down a bit in July :)

  27. Hi Sandi, what a beautiful beach you have! I enjoyed all your photos of the area! Some day I would love to visit! I feel the same way about the beach and water. We live close to Lake Superior and I love to just sit and watch the waves, so soothing. Your trifle looks so delicious. I haven't made one in a long time! Thank you for hosting your party and have a wonderful week! Hope you get to the beach again soon!

  28. Happy Canada Day Sandi! I love that tidal pool! There is all sorts of things to discover in those. When the boys were small we were in FL at my Grandfathers hometown beach and we found the nicest starfish in one. We thought we had struck gold. LOL Have a great weekend. I am running late this week.

  30. What a beautiful place you live in - I rather think I'd like to visit Prince Eward Island. Montreal is the only part of Canada that I've visited so far.
