HOME

"Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve; it is life's undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room." ~ Harriet Beecher Stowe

Hello dear friends and welcome to my HOME.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I'm still waiting for Spring to arrive here and I was a  bit disappointed to find fresh snow on the ground this morning.

This week at my tea party I set a tea table with creamy whites and roses. A soft and serene tea time after the hustle and bustle of Easter.

Pearls and lace as well as roses made for a romantic tea table.

"Peace- that was the other name for home." ~ Kathleen Norris

As promised at this week's tea party, I will share my recipe for Chicken a la King.
Served in warm puff pastry shells, it makes a lovely little nosh with your cup of tea or coffee. I think I made this in Home Ec and always kept the recipe.

Chicken a la King
First you make a white sauce.

White Sauce:
2 TBSP butter- melted
Add slowly -
2 TBSP flour
1 tsp salt
pepper
Cook until smooth without any lumps.
Slowly add -
2 cups milk
Cook over low heat until hot & thick, stirring constantly.

Add to Sauce:
1-1/2 to 2 cups cooked chicken- chopped
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
Heat until hot and serve.

I usually serve this over tea biscuits or toast but for a special occasion like tea, I serve it in warm puff pastry shells or toast cups.

The puff pastry shells you can buy at the grocery store in the frozen section or you can make your own.

The Toast Cups are easy enough. Simply cut rounds out of sliced bread with a cookie cutter and tuck into a muffin tin. Bake at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes. Watch them because they cook quickly. Turn out cups and let cool. When it's time to use them just heat them up again slightly. Hope you enjoy!

Here are some posts from last week which caught my eye ....

Shannon @ A Cozy Place Called Home invited us to her Easter Dessert Party. She set a pretty table with a lovely centerpiece of pink tulips and baby's breath and coloured eggs. Some yummy treats were waiting on the buffet that was decorated with those adorable bunnies and a beautiful wreath.

Michele @ The Nest at Finch Rest shared her pretty Easter tablescape using pastel coloured bunny plates, which I love, and a sweet bird's nest as a centerpiece. Simple yet oh, so sweet!

Jeanne @ Selep Imaging Blog shared her pretty dyed Easter eggs {with the help of her teenage son} and made an arrangement in rainbow colours around her dish of strawberries. Perfect for the Holiday!

Janet @ Rosemary-Thyme shared a fabulous makeover in one of her guest rooms. She used chalk paint to transform the furniture. A beautiful chandelier and medallion adorned the ceiling and lovely linens on the bed made it cozy and inviting.
There is also a fireplace. Who wouldn't want to stay overnight in this room!

Diane @ An Extraordinary Day shared her tutorial on these book page blossomed branches which she made for her sun room. They are so pretty and whimsical.
