Spiritual Sundays

Not many years ago, we watched as the WWJD craze swept through the Christian community. The bracelet-emblazoned theme "What Would Jesus Do?" was a valuable reminder to many people that we should consider the heart and mind of Jesus when making choices. As we seek to live in a way that honours the Saviour, it is appropriate to measure our attitudes and decisions against the example our Lord set for us.

Recently, however, I was in a church where I saw a slightly different message. This church's sign read, "WDJD- What Did Jesus Do?" That is indeed the more important question because our salvation depends on it.

What did Jesus do? He took the suffering and guilt for our wrongdoing and paid our penalty. He died and conquered death so we could live. We will never be able to fully consider what Jesus would do until we have embraced what He did do for us on the cross. ~ Excerpt from Our Daily Bread written by Bill Crowder

WE ARE SAVED NOT BY WHAT WE DO BUT BY TRUSTING WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE.

Here in Canada, we are celebrating the Thanksgiving weekend. I am reminded once again how blessed I am to live in a country where I can worship my God in freedom. We can gather peacefully around our tables and give thanks and enjoy the bounty before us.

I want to thank you all for your ongoing prayers on my behalf and that of my family. The situation has not changed but I am feeling better myself and more able to cope, knowing the Lord is in control!

Please join our wonderful hostesses Charlotte and Ginger for Spiritual Sundays. http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/ and have a beautiful and blessed weekend in Him.

  3. What a beautiful post Sandi :) I am grateful every day of what He did for us. That is so much more humbling and real than what WOULD He do. It is important to reflect on that often.

I have written notes and dates in my Bible of things that He has done in my own life. Prayers answered, Lessons learned, words spoken in due season, and days He just hugged me when I needed it. Those are the verses I reflect on when the enemy tries to steal my joy.

Continued prayers for you while you wait. :) And a Happy Thanksgiving !!! :) :)

  7. Happy THANKSGIVING to you, Sandi, and to all of my Canadian friends.
WDJD is a good thing to ponder, and a nice twist on the WWJD.
I like the C.S. Lewis quote on this blog, about tea and books.

  17. My sons had the WWJD bracelets and I was inspired one day when my oldest was twisting it around his wrist and said something like " I know what he would do but I just hope I can do it too". He's now a wonderful adult and I'm thankful that was part of the Lord's plan.

  18. I remember the WWJD craze. And how before everyone figured out what those letters stood for people were trying to figure it out. I like the WDJD better. I hope you are having a Happy Thanksgiving. Before I started blogging I had never even given a thought to whether people in Canada celebrated Thanksgiving. I thought it was just an American thing. I'm glad you have Thanksgiving also. I've had you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte
