Good morning everyone~ Our wonderful hostess Beverly at How Sweet the Sound has asked us to share our favourite decoration this week for Pink Saturday.
That's a toughie for me because most of my ornaments hold sentimental value. If I was asked to choose just one, I really have no idea which one it would be. I have ornaments from family members and my best friend who is with the Lord now, so it is very hard to choose. I also have my little teacups which I have collected for the tree this year.
I have these lovely ornaments from the Bradford Exchange which my mother gifted me with several years ago. As you can see, they both have pink on them.
They are each topped with a beautiful butterfly and they have such a pretty shape.
However, Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without this!
My Nativity sits in the china cabinet which I had built with this opening specifically to put my nativity in at Christmastime. It is a collection of porcelain figurines from Avon which were given to me back in the eighties.
The Holy family was a gift from my sweet hubby. The shepherd boy, angel with a trumpet, donkey, and ox were all gifts from family and friends.
The stable was built for me by one of our parishioners at our last church. I truly love it all! Christmas IS Christ; and we wouldn't be celebrating at all if not for His coming over two thousand years ago!
His coming to earth not only made a way for us to spend eternity with Him, but the Christmas season is a happy and joyous time for us to celebrate with our family and friends.
It is all because of Him!
It is all because of Him!
"....For behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you has been born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.' " - Luke 2:10-14

ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday sweetie.
I so love this post. I love your two precious ornaments. They are so devine. Delicate and beautifully colored, and then they have the beautiful butterfly on top. I have never seen anything like it before. Just beautiful.
I love your nativity scene. It is so serene. How wonderful that someone built a manger for you. I have yet to get one for my nativity set, but that is forthcoming I believe.
Thank you for sharing my special friend. Please pop over and let me share my pink post with you.

What beautiful ornaments, Sandi, and nativity. One year, MANY years ago, when I was taking a ceramics class I made my dad and stepmother a nativity scene. I "opalized" the figures. I'll need to look for it next time I visit them!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Pink Saturday!
Hugs,
Marsha
I LOVE your Nativity set...I love the all white.
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments are precious...
I love your pink ornaments, Sandi. Isn't it amazing how much pink we have all been using thru the years? They are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Christmas is not Christmas without a Nativity scene. That is Christmas, after all.
I am taking my computer with me, so I will be keeping up with things..
Warm Hugs,
Jil
PS Is your sons neck doing OK?
That manger scene with the open Bible is just perfect, Sandi!

Oh my how simply beautiful! Ornaments like that I have never seen. I also love your nativity so beautiful Grace
ReplyDeleteWe don't need elaborate decorations or a big tree or numerous gifts under a tree. All any of us needs is to carry the spirit of Christmas in our hearts and to share it all year long with everyone we meet.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your blog with me today. Yes, I'm crazy about ♥PINK♥ but I'm also devoted to visiting some of the nicest blogs in cyberspace.
Hoping your weekend is filled with peace.
I enjoyed the scripture you posted. The closer it gets to Christmas the more my heart and soul start thinking about our dear Lord and what a truely blessed event this holdiay is. Your ornaments from your mother are lovely . Blessings!

Hello dear Sandi
ReplyDeleteI think we all have special "crèche" (nativity) memories. I have my mom and dad's here also. Love your ornaments also.
Sorry I'm so late. I witnessed the passing of the Olympic Torch today. My 3rd cousin was running with it. Such an emotional day. Took tons of pictures. It was a clear blue sunny day. I met family that I didn't even know existed from Sudbury. The torch is on it's ways to B.C. as you might know. i live in Ottawa,so long way to go if you know what I mean loll
Happy PS Sandi
