Spiritual Sundays

Hello my dear friends; it is Spiritual Sundays again. This week has really rolled by quickly. The lazy, hazy days of summer are winding down and our beach weather is just about over for another season. Unfortunately, we have Hurricane Bill coming our way and so I thought I had better get my post up.
They are talking power outages and damage due to this storm. The last bad one we had was in 2003 when we were without power for three days. So, I'm trying to get prepared by posting this early. If we lose our power, I will not be able to visit you until later in the week.
Please pray that our little Island will not sustain any damage this time around. I have family in other parts of the Maritimes too so I am concerned for them also. My friend Carolyn at Aiken House and Gardens has a beautiful property here on PEI and I would hate to see any damage come upon them.

Today I would like to share from the devotional, Our Daily Bread.

Astronomers discovered a star in the sky that has cooled and compressed into a giant diamond. The largest rough gem-quality diamond ever found on Earth is the Cullinan Diamond - at over 3,100 carats. So how many carats are in the cosmic diamond? - 10 billion trillion trillion carats!

In our world, diamonds are prized for their rarity, beauty, and durability, and we often hear it said, "Diamonds are forever." But God isn't enamoured with diamonds. To Him there is something far more precious.

Thousands of years ago, David marveled at the great value God had set on human beings: "What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honour?" PSALMS 8:4-5

In fact, God placed such a high value on us that it cost Him dearly to buy our redemption. The purchase price was the precious blood of his Son, Jesus Christ {1 Peter 1:18-19}.

If God places such a high value on us, we should also place a high value on the people He has brought into our lives. Bring them before the Lord in prayer. Ask him to show you how each is more priceless than the most costly jewel in the universe. - Dennis Fisher

Please pray for:
*Amy- Debbie's daughter who has cancer
*My mother who is recuperating from surgery.
*Jim- my cousin's husband who has cancer.
* Prince Edward Island- that the hurricane will be downgraded and doesn't do significant damage to life or property.

Please visit our wonderful hostesses Charlotte and Ginger and the other participants at Spiritual Sundays by clicking the link or the Spiritual Sundays button on my sidebar. Have a safe and blessed weekend.

Sharing from my heart~ Sandi

  1. May the Lord cover you with His protection..."We are more precious to Jesus than the costliest diamonds..." Amen!

Have a great weekend and God bless.

  2. Splendid devotional. Very uplifting and encouraging. I have read your prayer list and I am and will be praying. Doesn't it make you feel good to know how precious we are to God and that He cares about our every need and hears our prayers. Wow! Thanks for posting.

  3. When I read about diamond in the sky immediately the little nursery rhyme came to my mind. "Twinkle twinkle little star. What I wonder what you are. Like a diamond in the sky." This is very interesting to me. Sounds like there really is a diamond in the sky.
Excellent devotional too, Sandi. Just to think that we are more valuable to God than all the diamonds in the world - or out of it.
Am praying for your protection during the storm and the other concerns on your post. I hope you do not end up without power but if you do I'm glad you went ahead and posted this early.

  4. Hi Sandi,
Thank you for your devotions and also your concern for our little part of the Island.
My prayers go out to those on your prayer list.
    Take care,

  5. This is such a wonderful post. I feel so special knowing that God wanted little me to be a part of the big world. I will continue to pray for the people on your prayer list also.

  6. Hello Sandi; What a beautiful Post. Thank you for sharing it with us.. I hope your Sunday is a beautiful one.

  7. Hi Sandi. My mom started reading My Daily Bread to me when I was young, and it's still one of my favorite devotionals. This was a wonderful message...we are His diamonds! Praying for all on your prayer list...may God protect your beautiful island from harm, and bring healing to the bodies of those precious friends that are suffering from illness. Blessings to you! Mary

  8. What a comforting message ... thank you!
Holding you (n' yours) in our hearts and prayers tonight, Sandi.

  9. I need to be reminded of this truth. God loves me and He also loves my fellow man. Have a Happy Sunday.
