Blue Monday

Good morning everyone! Blue Monday has rolled around once again and I'm going to show you something rather ordinary!

These are my every day dishes.

You may be wondering why I'm using Corelle when it's just the two of us. Well, the truth of the matter is, I don't have to baby this dinnerware and I happen to like the little blue heart pattern on them. Most of my dishes are red or pink and I find this blue is nice for a change. Besides, the pattern is rather cute and whimsical.
I also have several blue coffee mugs and a set of these blue glasses. I have four of the dark blue and four of the light blue coffee mugs. Anyone who has been following my blog knows that most of my decorating is in reds and pinks. So, you see, I do after all have some blue in my home!

Now I am going to share something extraordinary!
Exactly one month ago, it was my hubby's birthday and almost every year I bake him his favourite apple pie because he doesn't care for cake a whole lot. Me, I could eat cake every day of the week but anyway, we're talking about him here! This year instead of pie, I decided to make him a Trifle instead. As you can see from the photos, it has lots of pudding, sponge cake, whipped cream, and berries....blueberries! And of course, there were candles, at least one blue one!
It really was better than cake! I only make this about twice a year..... Hubby's birthday and Christmas.

Please join Sally and all the other Blue Monday participants by clicking on the link http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ or the Blue Monday button on my sidebar. Have a wonderful day everyone!

  1. Hi Sandi,
Thanks for the award, will be doing a post tomorrow night so will proudly put it up then.
I love your blue & white china, very pretty. My hubby draws the line at pretty dinner ware for every day so we have plain white. But it does have it's advantages, it goes with just about every china wise that I have.

  10. Corelle has come out with many beautiful patterns over the years... and they are so durable.. it is nice with kids around and now that we are growing older and our reflexes are not what they used to be. ;)

  12. Good morning, I'm stopping by to say hello, and Happy Monday (and for some, happy blue Monday or happy belated Pink Saturday - WHEW!)

That trifle is to die for. And I like your corelle too - after seeing pink after pink, it gives the eyes a nice respite.

My blog topic today is about a man, a dog, a love story, and a bit about embroidery. Please stop by if you have a moment.

  23. This is right up there in my book as one of the best desserts. Trifles have it all....looks and taste!

Chelsea and I were in the Corelle store this evening. She saw a pattern that she wants to collect for her hope chest.

  26. Hi Sandi, a day late but we have been traveling again today. I do love your dishes and Corelle has great staying power. I have a set of fruit Corelle dishes that I love. One thing is the thin dishes are easier to store. Your blue and white are very pretty.

The trifle looks so delicious. I bet your hubby loved it better than apple pie. Happy birthday to your hubby.

    Hugs...Jeanne
