HOME

"What makes a little house a home?
From it you never want to roam,
It's just a loving someone so,
That makes a house, a home, you know." ~ Author Unknown - An excerpt from our Marriage Book

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends! And welcome to my HOME where you are invited to share anything and everything related to your home!

The little poem at the top of my post was found in our Marriage Book which I just ran across this week in a drawer. It also went on to say, "If you love someone do not be afraid to tell them so. Yes, love not only transforms a house into a home, but it makes life truly happy."

Here is where I can get a little soppy....
I believe those words with all my heart and I have spent all of my married life creating a cosy and love filled home for my family.
You see, I have always considered it a privilege and my gift in life, to be able to do this for my hubby and children. And I have been rewarded with a very close knit family. I feel that I am truly blessed!

One of your posts last week echoed my sentiments and was quite heart warming.
Kitty @ Kitty's Kozy Kitchen and her hubby have just celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary. This is their wedding picture. Aren't they a darling couple!

We want to wish them every happiness and many more healthy years together.

God bless you, Kitty & Rich! We love you!

This week, I am still enjoying my peonies so I hosted a tea party using the flowers as my inspiration. And for my friend Sarah down in  Mississippi, and any others who wish to have it, I will share the recipe for my Rhubarb Pudding below.

Rhubarb Pudding

Prepare a mixture of fresh or frozen rhubarb which has been cut into 1/2 inch pieces and 1/2 cup sugar. Cover the bottom of a greased 8" cake pan with the fruit mixture. Set aside.

Prepare batter:
1-1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup milk

Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, blending well after each addition. Pour batter over the prepared fruit and bake at 350 F for 45-50 minutes. Serve warm plain or with whipped cream. Yield: 6-8 servings

This week I took my little fairy door outside and the fairies now enjoy their little abode in my wee garden beneath the weeping caragana.

Last week there were so many lovely posts and one in particular received the most views. Any guesses which one it was?

Debbie @ Debbie-Dabble received the most views. She made quite the haul yard saling and among the varied treasures she found was this beautiful teacup trio. Congratulations Debbie!

In second place was Sandra @ Ravenhill Cottage who shared a beautiful and thought provoking post on femininity.

And in third place was Judy @ Gold Country Cottage who shared her updated "Secret Garden."

Congratulations to all these ladies and thank you everyone for participating. I welcome all your HOME posts as well as visits and comments.

Please find the Linky below and link up all your DIYs, tablescapes, gardens, crafts, etc. I will be so happy to come and pay you a visit.

Happy 4th of July, my friends!

"Lord, this humble house we'd keep
Sweet with play and calm with sleep.
Help us so that we may give
Beauty to the lives we live.
Let thy love and thy grace
Shine upon our dwelling place." ~ Edgar A. Guest

Tea Time Tuesday

"I don't know how anyone can live without some small place of enchantment to turn to." ~ Marjorie Rawlings

Hello my dear bloggy friends and Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends! We live in a great country!

Here on the Island we have been rained in for much of our long holiday weekend and poor Hubby had caught the flu bug. So, what's one to do? Why have some tea, of course!

"Come along inside ... And we'll see if tea and buns can make the world a better place." ~ Kenneth Grahame- 'The Wind in the Willows''

I know - it's pink again!

But I couldn't let those luscious peonies go to waste without having a tea time in their presence now could I?

I was hoping to do a red and white tea for Canada Day but the colours just didn't compliment the  flowers.

These beautiful flowers have inspired me and for this moment in time, this is my little place of enchantment.

"To be overcome by the fragrance of flowers is a delectable form of defeat."~ Beverley Nichols

I promise next week, there will be no pink!

"The very sight of a teapot puts a smile on the face of most people. One cannot help but think of more serene and genteel times....They are a subtle reminder of all that is good in the world." ~ Barbara Roberts

Please join me for a cup of tea and some dessert, won't you?

Rhubarb pudding and a cup of hot tea make for a  lovely repast on a rainy afternoon. And I have plenty so please help yourself.

"The spirit of the tea beverage is one of peace, comfort, and refinement." ~ Arthur Gray

By the way, Hubby is feeling much better and we've been able to get out and enjoy the holiday a little.

I'm so happy you could drop by and I invite you to share something pretty from your collection of tea things today. Perhaps it's sunny where you are and you can enjoy tea in the garden. Wherever you find yourself today, I hope you can join me. Simply create a post around your tea things and link up below. Have a beautiful day everyone and God bless you!
