HOME

"The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely." ~ Louisa May Alcott

Hello dear blogger friends and welcome to my HOME.

I finally got a little Autumn decorating done outside our home.

This is last year's wreath with coloured leaves, sunflowers, and cattails.

I added a burlap bow to the wreath this year.

I had looked for brown burlap and was disappointed because I couldn't find any. I ended up with loden green and as it turns out, it was the perfect colour because it looks great with our shutters!

I placed a pumpkin in the birdbath just as I did last year.

And there is a pot of yellow mums and some pumpkins on the front steps as well as a big pumpkin by the side door steps.

Inside, I have some of my mercury pumpkins out. This little beauty is sitting on a pretty doilie which my niece crocheted for me. The pattern is Pineapple Blossom.

A white pumpkin on a wee chair by the fireplace.

Yesterday we had a heavy downpour of rain and it was dark and gloomy in the house so I poured a cup of coffee and curled up in a chair by the fire. The pumpkin on its chair looks completely different bathed in fire light.

That's about all the Fall decorating I do as I'm usually thinking about Christmas this time of year.

Here are my features from last week's party....

Diane @ An Extraordinary Day shared a lovely mantel display using crabapple branches. Isn't it pretty? Love the bird cage!

Jocelyn @ Just A Little Southern Hospitality shared her wonderful hutch filled with her lovely Friendly Village china.

Sherry @  The Charm of Home shared her welcoming pumpkin display on the front porch.  I like how the pumpkins and mums are colour coordinated!

Amber @ Junkaholics Unanimous found this wonderful table for ten dollars at a yard sale and turned it into this fabulous farmhouse table. I just love it!

Debbie @  Debbie-Dabble shared the transformation of her home with new wooden floors, a new counter top, and sink in the kitchen. Looks terrific!

Kathy @ A Delightsome Life shared her fabulous Christmas dishes that she found at an estate sale for five dollars. Yes, she did indeed get all of these dishes for a mere five dollars! Now, is that a bargain or what! My hubby was impressed!

Tea Time Tuesday

"Decide that joy is the hue you want your heart to be. Then start making the little and large choices that over time will paint your heart happy" ~ Thomas Kinkade

Welcome to Tea Time, my lovely friends!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. October is certainly starting out to be a beautiful month here on the Island.

A few weeks ago my niece crocheted this fifteen inch doilie for me called Pineapple Blossom. Isn't it pretty!

Pretty things make me happy, how about you? Just a little touch of loveliness here and there in your home can go a long way in making your home a cozy place to be. A mercury glass pumpkin helps!

So does a pretty teacup. I am using my doilie in my tea setting today.

This teacup is one I have shared before but I haven't used it in a while. Some of you may not have seen it.

I love the colour aqua and all the different hues of it. Whether robin egg blue, teal, or turquoise, these are all hues of this beautiful shade.

As you can see from the photo, my Royal Albert teacup is called Veronica and it is so pretty with  delightful aqua hued roses and gold trim. A cluster of roses adorn the inside of the cup as well.

My mother gifted me with this teacup for a shower gift when I got married. We both love the colour aqua as does my Auntie P. Must be a family thing.

Also joining the party is my Aynsley teacup dressed in turquoise and leaves of gold inside the cup.

These sets look splendid together, don't they? And tea tastes delicious in them both. There is nothing like a hot cup of tea sipped from a china teacup!

"Life is like a teacup to be filled to the brim and enjoyed with friends."~ Unknown

Pretty teacups filled with tea and tea biscuits are just right for a little respite.

The last few weeks I have been using quotes from a lovely little book gifted to me by a dear friend. If you like Thomas Kinkade's work, then you will enjoy this book called A Book of Joy.

It is filled with page after page of his gorgeous paintings and lovely quotes and poetry.

A must have for the romantic in me!

Next week I am hosting A Pink Tea in honour of   Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please feel free to use my button for your post.

When I scheduled this tea party I had forgotten that it is our Thanksgiving weekend. Oh, well, I will just have to get it ready early. I invite you to join me for this special tea party.

Thank you for visiting today and if you have a special teacup/teapot or coffee mug that you would like to share, please link up and I will be happy to come and visit you. Wishing you all a beautiful day.
