Hello friends and welcome to my 11th Tea Time Tuesday! Spring is here and with it comes new growth, song birds, and warmer temperatures.
On Sunday morning, I was thrilled to look out the window and see my beloved Gold finches at the feeder! They are back early this year, no doubt because of the warmer weather we've been having. These aren't my gold finches in the photo but I thought I would share a photo of these adorable little yellow birds. Their plummage is so beautiful and they are very entertaining little birds. Today I am sharing my mother's Lavender Rose china. This pretty pattern also reminds me of Springtime. The tiny pink roses that adorn the teacups and other pieces of china are just so dainty; like tiny rose gardens all by themselves! This fine bone china is made in England by Royal Albert. Sorry the stamp isn't clearer!
The little silver spoon I am using was my youngest son's baby spoon. It is made by Oneida and I'm so happy to be able to put it to good use again. I miss the baby though!
This lovely lady which is made by Royal Dalton is also my mother's. As you can see, her frock is sprinkled with roses and is also the Lavender Rose pattern. Her name is Shirley. She stands very gracefully as though twirling; reminds me of the twirling scene in "You've Got Mail" which I watched over the weekend. It is one of my favourite movies! Springtime often finds us making plans for our gardens.Have you ever come out of the grocery store or flower shop and said to yourself, "Someday I'm going to grow my own vegetables and flowers?" Perhaps it was price, quality, or the frustration of standing in line to pay that gave you this urge.
Then "someday" finally came, and you found yourself on your hands and knees in the backyard- digging, fertilizing, planting, watering, pruning, and weeding. A small piece of land became a much-loved, well-tended oasis.
Have you noticed what happens when you garden? Your joints ache, your fingernails break, sweat rolls off of you, and your hands and clothes get full of dirt. But something happens to your spirit as well.
A pursuit like gardening teaches us patience, redefines our definition of beauty, and gives us confidence in our ability to do something constructive. As we learn to care for something besides ourselves, we have more to give to others when we put aside our hoes and trowels and return to our "other" world.
One of the best places to go after a hard day of work is home...to the garden! {Excerpts from Tea Time With God}
"Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you." - Hosea 10:12
Thank you for stopping by for tea today. If you wish to participate, please let me know in your comment and I will add your link to my post. Please share a favourite teacup, tea pot, or a piece of china. A scripture verse or short story would also be most welcome.
