Hubby and I took a drive through the beautiful countryside and found some hidden treasures in the way of red clay roads and woods filled with golden hues thanks in part to the changing of the leaves.
This is a clay road that is about a half mile long which runs through the woods connecting one small community to another.

I would love to take a walk through Green Gables' Haunted Wood and Lover's Lane this time of year but I don't think they are open now. I must check that out.
The next two photos are paths through the woods near one of our nursing homes. It's a beautiful spot!

The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name. ~ George Cooper
And this pretty trail is near our home.
It was once part of the railroad tracks that ran from one end of the Island to the other.
It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon. ~ Sarah Addison Allen
I like this quote I read in my devotions, "Heavenly Father, You have put us here to enjoy and ponder Your marvellous creation. May everything You have made remind us of Your goodness, love, and care."
Back home, I saw an arrangement on Pinterest and I thought I would do a copy cat version. Mine is a little different but basically the same idea. The teacups are all Royal Albert except for one. The middle cup on the middle tray is made by Aynsley.
Wouldn't this be a cute way to display your teacups for a tea party?

I had a bit of fun with Picasa too.
I have featured pink tea things again this week in honour of all the ladies who are fighting, have fought, or have lost their lives to breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and dear friends, please take good care of yourselves and get a mammogram regularly.

Thank you for the wonderful trip. Everything looks so pretty. One day I would like to visit your Island. Hubby retires in 3 years so maybe we can.
ReplyDeleteWe visited your island a couple of years ago and one of the highlights for me was wandering through Green Gables and the Haunted Woods. We admired the red soil in the fields (June) and all the pretty houses and churches dotted over the island. Someday, we hope to return.

We have also enjoyed our rambles through the Haunted Wood in years past, and also meandering about L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish home. We have visited PEI a half dozen times in the 1990s. We so wish to return ... one of these years, perhaps we will be able to make it happen. The Island is so beautiful and the pace of life (seemingly) much more peaceful than it is here.

Thank you for sharing these clay roads with us. I'd be more motivated to do 10K steps/day if I could walk those pretty paths. I loved how you arranged your teacups on the tiered tray--I may have to borrow that idea during Christmas. The pink teacups are a lovely way to remember Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
ReplyDeleteI spent the weekend with my adorable godson and also watched the spring and summer episodes of Gilmore Girls.
Nothing more fun than to take an afternoon drive and to enjoy the beautiful red clay roads of PEI!! And then to come home and create your lovely little teacup tiered stand, it is just beautiful and a great way to display several different tea cups! I hope you continue to enjoy the lovely fall colors!

Oh My! Your country clay roads through the autumn woods are spectacular! Thank you for sharing this with us. Where I live, in Florida, we have plenty of dirt roads, but no beautiful fall foliage to inspire us! So I do appreciate this beauty you've shared today. Also, your teacups are lovely in any shape or form! I was a little nervous that one might get chipped in the process...but they do look so lovely!!! Thank you for the "pink reminder".
