October was a beautiful month at Green Gables, when the birches in the hollow turned as golden as sunshine and the maples behind the orchard were royal crimson and the wild cherry trees along the lane put on the loveliest shades of dark red and bronzy green, while the fields sunned themselves in aftermaths. ~ Anne of Green Gables - LM Montgomery
Hello my lovely friends and welcome to Rose Chintz Cottage! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Hubby and I took a drive through the beautiful countryside and found some hidden treasures in the way of red clay roads and woods filled with golden hues thanks in part to the changing of the leaves.
This is a clay road that is about a half mile long which runs through the woods connecting one small community to another.
With fall's crisp air comes a wealth of beauty as the landscape is redecorated in a prismatic array. ~ Victoria Bliss magazine
You never know what peace is until you walk on the shores or in the fields or along the winding red roads of Prince Edward Island ... ~ LM Montgomery
This is another clay road on PEI photographed by Ian Harper.
I would love to take a walk through Green Gables' Haunted Wood and Lover's Lane this time of year but I don't think they are open now. I must check that out.
The next two photos are paths through the woods near one of our nursing homes. It's a beautiful spot!
October gave a party,
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name. ~ George Cooper
And this pretty trail is near our home.
It was once part of the railroad tracks that ran from one end of the Island to the other.
It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon. ~ Sarah Addison Allen
I like this quote I read in my devotions, "Heavenly Father, You have put us here to enjoy and ponder Your marvellous creation. May everything You have made remind us of Your goodness, love, and care."
Back home, I saw an arrangement on Pinterest and I thought I would do a copy cat version. Mine is a little different but basically the same idea. The teacups are all Royal Albert except for one. The middle cup on the middle tray is made by Aynsley.
Wouldn't this be a cute way to display your teacups for a tea party?
The mere chink of cups and saucers tunes the mind to happy repose. ~ George Gissing
I had a bit of fun with Picasa too.
I have featured pink tea things again this week in honour of all the ladies who are fighting, have fought, or have lost their lives to breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and dear friends, please take good care of yourselves and get a mammogram regularly.
How did you spend your weekend?

The photos of the roads remind me of John Denver's song "Take me Home Country Roads".
ReplyDeleteI love your teacup arrangement. Yes, it would be a great way to decorate for a Tea.
Thank you for the wonderful trip. Everything looks so pretty. One day I would like to visit your Island. Hubby retires in 3 years so maybe we can.
ReplyDeleteWe visited your island a couple of years ago and one of the highlights for me was wandering through Green Gables and the Haunted Woods. We admired the red soil in the fields (June) and all the pretty houses and churches dotted over the island. Someday, we hope to return.
ReplyDeleteYour teacup arrangement would be sweet for a gathering - you have a very lovely collection.
Happy new week, Sandi.
We have also enjoyed our rambles through the Haunted Wood in years past, and also meandering about L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish home. We have visited PEI a half dozen times in the 1990s. We so wish to return ... one of these years, perhaps we will be able to make it happen. The Island is so beautiful and the pace of life (seemingly) much more peaceful than it is here.
ReplyDeleteYour teacup arrangement is lovely. What a nice idea!
The colors of Autumn are intense and incredibly vivid in your country. Beautiful roads and paths!! Love the tea cup arrangement and it indeed look lovely as a center piece for a get-together tea party.
ReplyDeleteEach week you inspire me...thanks again for remember the women and men who have had breast cancer. God is Good. Love the teacup arrangement too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teacups and amazing landscapes!Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of the beautiful roads and views that you shared, Sandi!! Also, I enjoyed my dose of lovely quotes and devotions from you. Your tiered tray looks perfect in pink china teacups and little creamer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your congratulatory wishes on my new baby granddaughter, and of my mini me, Cissy! All my grands are sweet blessings.
Lovely quotes as always! I adore the autumn and October especially!
ReplyDeleteYour teacups are lovely and that is a sweet way to display them!
Thank you for sharing these clay roads with us. I'd be more motivated to do 10K steps/day if I could walk those pretty paths. I loved how you arranged your teacups on the tiered tray--I may have to borrow that idea during Christmas. The pink teacups are a lovely way to remember Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
ReplyDeleteI spent the weekend with my adorable godson and also watched the spring and summer episodes of Gilmore Girls.
Nothing more fun than to take an afternoon drive and to enjoy the beautiful red clay roads of PEI!! And then to come home and create your lovely little teacup tiered stand, it is just beautiful and a great way to display several different tea cups! I hope you continue to enjoy the lovely fall colors!
ReplyDeleteThe red clay roads against the green is amazinly beautiful... and of course I love all your teacups. I have lost a few loved ones to cancer.. may the Lord bless you with love Janice
ReplyDeleteOh my, those red clay roads with fall foliage are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFlowerLady
Oh My! Your country clay roads through the autumn woods are spectacular! Thank you for sharing this with us. Where I live, in Florida, we have plenty of dirt roads, but no beautiful fall foliage to inspire us! So I do appreciate this beauty you've shared today. Also, your teacups are lovely in any shape or form! I was a little nervous that one might get chipped in the process...but they do look so lovely!!! Thank you for the "pink reminder".
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, sorry I have been MIA for quite a while. Great clay roads, it makes me think of sweaters cocoa and for sure fall. A walk with boots an swishing through the leaves like we did when children.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of those tea cups that were my grandmothers
Cindy
We don't get much in the way of seasonal changes so I loved looking at your photos. They remind me of our New England vacation to see the fall leaves.
ReplyDeleteDear Sandi, these photos are so pretty and picturesque. I'm glad you had a lovely drive. Mimi xxx
ReplyDeleteI think I have seen these roads in pictures, maybe in Victoria. They are really lovely dressed in autumn colors! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteI love the beauty of PEI! It is on my list to get there in the next year or two. The clay roads and wooded forests are breathtaking! Love your gorgeous teacups and how you displayed them Sandi! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
What wonderful fall photos. A beautiful area indeed. I love the teacup display, beautiful! We have been having our first major storm here the last few days...an "atmospheric river" with power out a lot, so late visiting. Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea.

Such a pretty sight you shared this week. I will feature it this week at Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteSandi, somehow I missed this post before! Gorgeous - now I want to visit there more than ever!
ReplyDeleteLove the teacup arrangement. Didn't know you could still do things with Picasa. But I especially adore the country roads. Aren't the colors just wonderful right now?
