A Romantic After Valentines Day Tea
Oh, for the gentleness of old Romance ~ Keats
Hello friends ~ Valentines Day is past however February is a month when many of us keep the romance going all month long.
A romantic bouquet of carnations and roses. Sweet pink velvet petals of luscious roses and frilly spicy carnations; my favourite.
A little lace, some chocolate, and hearts linger about our homes as we curl up in front of the fire and sip a cup of tea with someone we love; be it your spouse, a family member, or a beloved friend.
Tea served in a pretty chintz teapot.
The matching teacup.
Another chintz teacup.
A pair of birdies. See the heart cut outs?
Love is in the air.
When it's cold outside, wrapping one's hands around a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea warms our spirits and we draw comfort from that first sip to the last.
Each cup of tea represents an imaginary journey. ~ Catherine Douzel
Join me, won't you, for a hot cup of cinnamon vanilla tea and some chocolate. Chocolate being some fudge I made. It's the five minute variety but Hubby loves it!
A little cheese cake drizzled with chocolate and caramel.
Or perhaps a valentine cupcake. Hubby brought two of these home from the bakery for a treat.
HAPPY are they who take life day by day, complain very little,
and are thankful for the little things. ~ Unknown
And so, I have lit the fire and I am savouring my tea as I watch the flames dance among themselves, spreading warmth throughout the room.
Evening has fallen and candlelight makes it cozy.
The candle sticks are a perfect match to the china. They were a Mothers Day gift from my son several years ago.
Winter is the time for comfort - it is the time for home. ~ Edith Sitwell
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful.... We have had a blizzard going on since early yesterday morning and even though I am cozy and warm in my little cottage, I am dreaming of springtime.
This is the snowbank outside my front window at 4:00 Sunday afternoon. You can barely see the maple tree out front. Since I took the picture, more snow has accumulated. As of right now, our whole Island has been shut down. Hubby will have to jump off our back deck to get out because we can't open our doors. I saw two gold finches out in the tree earlier looking for seed but the bird feeder is plugged with snow.
The good news is Spring is only a few weeks away. I know you gardeners are anxious to get your hands into the soil. Me, I'm dreaming of bright green lacy trees and walking on the sand at one of our beaches.
What are you dreaming about today?
Thank you for visiting. I wish you joy and may all your dreams come true!

I would LOVE a piece of that Cheesecake!!! What a lovely post today, well perhaps except for that picture of the door you can't open. We are fortunate all the way south in Pennsylvania to not have so much snow.... but we are getting plenty of COLD. It was below zero when I got up today and now it is all the way up to +4F. (-15.5C) I do look forward to some warmer weather but not as much as those of you all that are having so much trouble with the snow......
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, Wishing you a wonderful week; hoping it gets warmer and that snow melts soon. We had a 10" snow two weeks ago; we've had some melting since and then refreeze - lots of ice in the yard but thankfully the roads are ok. Your roses, carnations and baby's breath make a lovely bouquet. Your teapot and teacups are lovely as well. The fudge and cheesecake look great!
ReplyDeleteHugs, prayers and blessings to you and your family! ~ Beth
Hi Sandi! Love your chintz...Carnations and Daffodils are my favorite flowers. I remember snow like that when we lived at altitude...we used to average 280 inches a year...and at the moment friends say they have none! You eastern folks are getting in. Mu husband remembers well shoveling snow UP! Thanks for hosting and thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

ReplyDeletethose treats look yummy.........
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you keep the ambience of romance all month too Sandi. I just wish I had other teacups to use but the Gracie hearts is pretty and will be appearing for February. It's been so cold at night a few times, we wish we had a fireplace to light in our rented house.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting our gathering.
What a beautiful bouquet. And I especially loved the quotes you shared. Happy February!

Your tea today - and your china is absolutely gorgeous, Sandi! You even have matching candlesticks - how perfect is that?? Thank you for hosting - you are so right about a nice hot cuppa on days like these!
ReplyDeleteSorry about all your snow- it's snowing here and very cold but nothing as you have.
I am worried about the gold finches!!!! Oh no!!!
Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so cozy! I hope you are staying safe and warm and that you still have electricity with the storm on. I had heard on the news about a family of four stranded near Summerside in their SUV for over 24 hours! We had our first major snow of the season last Thursday. We have been very fortunate, indeed, although a storm is being forecasted for Wednesday. We all are looking over our shoulders and crossing our fingers that we'll be spared too great a snowfall. I am dreaming of gardens, as always! I'm hopeless that way. Lol Take care and thanks for having us for tea today.
Hugs,

Hi Sandi! Your tea today is beautiful! Especially those gorgeous flowers :). I really like the candlelight shot in front of the blazing fire. So romantic! That is a lot of snow! Its snowing here right now too, but it is light powdery stuff, no where near the amount you have. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea party you have spread, with the exquisite chintz dishes. The flowers are simply gorgeous! The last shot is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting sweet lady. Although I don't have a tea time table, I have my teaset in the buffet anyway.

ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteJust popping in to check on you with all the snow you've had. I notice that your rose chintz porcelain is the same pattern that we gifted to my dear mom-in-law Ethel one year for Mother's Day! While she was at church in the morning, I set a lovely table for her with new linens, place settings for 6, cutlery, glassware, completer set and flower centerpieces. My hubby and I stopped by the bakery before we made the hour-long drive from the city to her house and picked up all kinds of wonderful things to eat. We invited all her family and friends to stop by her home after church. She knew nothing about it! What a beautiful surprise it was! We shared a lovely afternoon that Mother's Day surrounded by pretty rose-strewn dishes. Wishing you many blessings...
Hugs,
Linda at Beautiful Ideas
What a lovely thing to do for your mom-in-law! I'm quite sure she was delighted, Linda. Thanks for your visit.
