Autumn Time

Hello everyone~ I hope you are all ready for the weekend. After the horrific week many of you have endured because of Hurricane Sandy, I pray that today you are safe and your needs are being met.

I would like to share a few photos of Autumn on our fair island. A couple of weeks ago my hubby and I enjoyed taking a walk through one of our many trails here on the Island. Walking through the woods always brings to mind this little song we used to sing when we were children......

"Over the river and through the woods,
to grandmother's house we go..." ~ Traditional Children's Song

The beginning of the trail with leaves strewn about the path.....

Look way up to see the canopy of beautiful colours overhead.

I love the sound of leaves crunching beneath our feet.

These trees were in a clearing on our way back to our car.

This is the view in our back yard.

This is the birdhouse on top of the clothes line post, also in our backyard. Sorry it's not clearer. I had to stand on the deck to shoot it.

Our pumpkin in the bird bath.

Our wreath on the door. Would you like to come in?

"I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion." ~ Henry David Thoreau

After our nice brisk walk, how about a cup of tea?

Please help yourself to a cinnamon roll or snail as my son has always called them. They sit on a pink JB plate which I found at a thrift shop.

Thank you for visiting today and  enjoy your day!

I'm sharing this with the following parties and thank you to our lovely hostesses -

  1. Hello Sandi
Gorgeous scenery on your walk and what a view from your backyard!
My hubby just bought me a new blue and white teapot and I thought it was the same as your new one, but although they're similar, they are different. I'll bring it out for tea soon.
Have a great weekend. We had snow flurries this morning but they're gone off the ground now.

  11. Thank you for the beautiful autumn walk and the lovely cup of tea. It's so good for our health. I recently read that the Japanese have a special word for walking in nature - shinrin-yoku - meaning "forest bathing". I love it.
    Enjoy the beauty!

  13. Hi Sandi, You have a wonderful view from your backyard. All the lovely autumn colour and finished here in Southern Ontario. I finished raking the last of the leaves and have a lovely pile in the vegetable garden. They will make wonderful compost next spring. Take care and have a blessed weekend. Jen.

  17. Ahhh....Fall is my favorite time of the year with it's patchwork quilt of color strewn along the way. You and your husband sound sweet singing along together on your walk. Today, I took a walk and rejoiced at the beauty of God's creation...His amazing and intricate design.
Have a lovely weekend, my friend,

  25. Sandi, you share the best of everything! Your kind heart and thoughtfulness regarding Hurricane Sandy was touching. We are all so grateful to have so many conveniences and so many others are suffering in this disaster. My heart goes out to all those effected by this natural disaster and my prayers will be with them for a long time to come.
Thank you for your precious post. The photos were stunningly beautiful and those cinnamon rolls and the tea! Sigh!

How amazing to have that serene view each day when you wake up.
We are celebrating Spring here at the moment and our hot Summer climate is hitting already. Autumn seems such a long time ago now. When we begin to sweat and turn the air conditioning on I will begin to long for Autumn again....
