"Tea is a time in which we were perfectly contented with ourselves and one another." ~ Charles Dickens
Hello friends and welcome to Tea Time's 140th party! Today I am hosting, "What's In Your Cabinet?"
I am so looking forward to having a peek at your treasures this week! Remember, you may share anything from china to silver to wood, etc. It may be a collection of teacups, teapots, dolls, plates, silverware, jewelry, etc. Perhaps you have one special piece you would like to share such as a piece of china that has been passed down to you or found while out treasure hunting. Or maybe you have a special cabinet or a table you would like to share with us. Anything and everything that holds a special place in your heart, just share it with a cup of tea or coffee and I will come and visit you....
You all know I have a collection of teacups and teapots. You also know about my love affair with Johnson Bros. Rose Chintz and how I have acquired most of my pieces from my sweet Auntie P. I also received pieces from blogger friends, Carolyn and Patti.
And you've all heard about how I designed my china cabinet, by transforming a closet into the cabinet.
So today, I thought I would show you this little cabinet. I found it already painted and adorned so prettily with the roses. I have my little mercury glass pumpkin sitting on top.
I also have this collection of red rimmed King's Crown glass ware.
The punch bowl set was gifted to me by my brother when Hubby and I were first married. I have four sherbets, four wine glasses, four goblets, four tumblers, four plates, a set of salt and pepper, a creamer, and a covered candy dish.
Of all the gifts
that life could send -
The best is
knowing
That you're my friend! ~ Unknown
I have been searching for a red transferware cow creamer for forever but I could never find one here on the Island. I could order one but with shipping costs, it would have cost me seventy-five dollars or more. That, I was not going to do!
Anyway, to make a long story short, a very dear friend of mine had this in her cabinet and she knew I collected red transferware {or I try to} and she gifted me with the creamer. She wrapped it up for me when I was leaving her home one day and said it was "just because." Needless to say, when I arrived home with it and I unwrapped it, I was thrilled to see the creamer! Isn't it cute?
It has Crown Devon Staffordshire England marked on the bottom. Thank you, dear friend, I will cherish it always as I do our friendship!
If I had a flower
For every time you made me
smile and laugh
I'd have a garden to walk in
Forever. ~ Unknown
And now let's enjoy some tea, shall we? I'm serving Spiced Apple Chai today. Red roses and my little cow creamer look right at home with the Skye McGhie Florence tea set Hubby gifted me with for Christmas one year.
My red rimmed covered dish holding fresh berries and a wee angel food cake with some whipped cream on the side, make a lovely treat for tea today.
Won't you join me?
Do you recognize this?
It is featured in Victoria's latest Holiday Bliss magazine. I found my covered dish at a thrift shop years ago.
Ah, tea and a treat, and a good magazine!
All of life's moments should be as sweet!
So, what's in your cabinet, lovely ladies?
"Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence." ~ Jeremiah 17:7
I am delighted you have stopped by for tea today! Your presence always makes my tea party that much more special and I am happy to see all your tea things, whether you have shared them before or not. This tea party is all about sharing your joy of tea time and any thoughts you might have on the subject. You may be as creative, fancy, or as laid back with your tea time as you wish! Do you have a favourite teacup/teapot or mug that you would like to share with us today? I would love to see it and I'm sure others would too!
If you wish, you may do coffee instead of tea or the following is acceptable too:
Hot Apple Cider
Hot chocolate
Lemonade
Iced tea or iced coffee
Punch in a lovely bowl
No alcoholic beverages please.

Tea, treats, good magazines and good friends! I enjoyed the collections you showed Sandi and it was nice of your friend to gift you with the red transferware creamer.
ReplyDeleteI stepped outside of the cabinet for my collection, no accumulated sets of china, only summer and winter china dishes.
It will be nice to see what the other ladies share this week, thanks for hosting.

I just love all of your pretty tea cups and dishes. That cow is the cutest ever and I'm so glad that your friend gave it to you, that's so sweet.
As for what's in my cabinet...not much of anything right now since I'm still unpacking.
My kitties are doing pretty good and getting used to their new home.
You are so sweet to ask about them.

Dear Sandi, I am so glad you thought of the idea of "What's in your collection?". I love your rose chintz china which Aunt P. and friends have sent you special pieces for your collection. The way you display is lovely. A little cow creamer from a friend is a wonderful story and so meaningful to you. That is a pretty tea table with the red transferware and the cute cow creamer. This has made me stop to think how fortunate I am to have sweet people in my life and how blessed I am to be able to enjoy my collections. I so enjoyed you sharing your collections and story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam
Sorry I meant "What's in your cabinet?".
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam
So excited for this party Sandi! Love all of your wonderful cabinets. I had an area at my previous home that hubby put an old door on and I used it to store special dishes. Loved it! The CD holder turned cabinet is a clever idea. Love your cow. What a sweet friend indeed! I do not have red transferware, but would die to have a bit. Thanks for the fun party and congrats on the magazine feature. Well deserved!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann

ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, Love the cow creamer, it looks great with that tea set you have it with. I don't know that I've ever seen a cow creamer with the cow laying down, the one's I see are always standing up. So that makes yours extra special, and the fact that your special friend gave it to you. Lucky you! Gina

ReplyDeleteSandi I confess..it's an addiction and I am one of you. No it's not a hoarding thing but I do enjoy my pretty dishes. Even the most ordinary meal becomes something special presented and served on pretty dishes and btw my official policy is "they are not being reserved to show off only or for special ocassions or guests. Mine are meant to be used. The memories are made in the using. I now have 4 punch bowls-one for each of our girls. That's enough-no more :^)
