Tea Time Tuesday

Hello friends and welcome to my 21st Tea Time Tuesday!

The lilacs are out and so are my pansies so I thought I would share both because the teacup I am featuring today has violets on it. Doing the purple theme today.

This lovely little teacup was a housewarming gift from my hubby's aunt when we moved into our first home. We moved in the month of February; hence the February teacup. Hubby's aunt has since passed away so the teacup holds much sentimental value.

The pattern is called 'Violets' and it is made of fine bone china by Royal Albert in jolly old England. It is one of the 'Flowers of the Month' collection. Inside and out, the teacup is adorned with pert little purple violets. The teacup itself and the saucer are both edged with 14 carat gold.
The little silver spoon once belonged to my youngest son.

The pansies are from my garden and they are in my oldest son's silver baby cup which is a bit tarnished but I rather like it like that. I do shine it up from time to time.

Roses are red, Violets are blue.....
....and so are lilacs.
There is a tiny lavender-blue flower in the Rose Chintz pattern so the lilacs look very nice in this pitcher.

I just love the fragrance of lilacs, don't you? It's too bad they don't last a bit longer! Actually, many varieties are on their way out right now.

Would you like to try a sugar cookie with your tea? Would you prefer a teacup or a mug?

People need people and friends need friends
And we all need love, for a full life depends
Not on vast riches or great acclaim
Not on success or worldly fame
But just in knowing that someone cares
And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers.

The violet cup and saucer speaks to me as February is my birthday, must be another reason why I like purple and lavender so much.

I think I will dig ours out.
Thank you for stopping by for tea.
    Have a blessed week.

  23. Hello Your post had me off day dreaming. I think it’s sweet that you used mementos from your sons in your post today. And the lilacs… I can’t figure out where to put one in my yard but the smell will always remind me of my parents home, tea parties in the garden, and Mum’s lavender candies that tasted like flowers. Take care.

  41. Thank you for popping by my blog today. I have loved the opportunity to meet so many lovely gals at these Tuesday tea parties.

The February teacup is beautiful. My daughter's birthday is in February, so I know the birthday is amethyst, also purple. So, the violets are perfect for a February cup.

And, wow, your lilacs are gorgeous!!! Mine were gone several weeks ago. Yes, they do have a lovely fragrance.

  43. I miss the lilacs, we had them in Illinois, then moved to Fl. I think a dainty tea cup is best for tea,and I love the connections of people with the pretty things you have. You have a flare for display.
I have been blessed with this Royal Albert set of flower of the month cups, mine started with June as that was my mothers month, it was the only one I was going to get, hmm, what happen? Thanks for sharing, BE BLESSED:-)Werna Gail

  50. Thanks for your comment on my blog, about where you live. I imagine it is truly beautiful. Last month I bought Anne of Green Gables and read it for the first time. Of course, I now adore Anne, she is so cute and upbeat. I enjoy the map of PEI in the edition I bought and now I can almost "see" you there.
Your lilacs are wonderful and I like your blog tea party idea.
