Hello and welcome to my Spiritual Sundays post! The other day I was reading in my little devotional and I came across this one which I thought I would share with you today.
STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS
No one wants to be weak, so we find ways to appear strong. Some of us use the force of our emotions to manipulate people. Others use the force of personality to control people, and some use intellect to intimidate. Although these create an illusion of strength, they are signs of weakness.
When we are truly strong, we have the courage to admit our limitations and to acknowledge our dependence on God. As a result, true strength often looks like weakness. When the apostle Paul prayed that an affliction would be taken from him, God answered, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" {2 Corinthians 12:9}. Paul responded with these troubling words: "When I am weak, then I am strong."{v. 10}.
Toward the end of Jesus' ministry, some of His disciples were striving for positions of prominence. Jesus used their argument as an opportunity to teach them that in His kingdom things are different: greatness comes when we willingly assume positions of weakness {Matt. 20:26}.
This is a hard truth. But God wants us to realize that true strength comes when we stop trying to control people and start serving them instead. - Julie Ackerman Link
"Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant." -Matthew 20:26

This post really spoke to me this morning. The Lord has really been dealing with this issue with me this week. I REALLY am stong through Him in my weaknesses. (and I have soo many, haha) Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a hard concept for people in America to accept. Thank you for this reminder. It really is in our weakness that we are made strong.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
Love your post! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI love the statement: God's Greatest power can be displayed in our biggest weakness.
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth!?!
I am so glad that He is strong when we are weak. I am also glad He forgives me when I try to handle things on my own.
Wonderful teaching on what true strength is! Happy Sunday, Sandi.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mary
Beautiful reminder.
ReplyDeletethis is so true. I have always been a fighter...had to be. I wouldn't even cry but God has shown me real strength sometimes does look like weakness...thank you for this reminder. Sarah

If not fear, it's also anxiety or trials that seems to be prevalent among our posts. And I'm glad that our Lord had spoken through each of our hearts that He is reassuring us that no matter what we are up against, He is always here with us. To God be the glory! God bless and may you have a wonderful weekend sister Sandi. Be strong in the Lord's mighty power.
ReplyDeleteThis first sentence struck me so powerfully! Oftentimes, I refer to myself as a "chameleon on plaid" - not because I've no convictions -- rather, I'm down-deep scared that others will spot my shortcomings.
ReplyDeleteThis is great food for thought, for acceptance. Thank you, and bless you!

I just realized that the people that I know that acknowledge their weakness and thus found strength in the Lord are the strongest people I know. I have great things to ponder anew here. ~
ReplyDeleteGreat devotion. I can relate to Paul and was just thinking of this earlier today... to be content with my weaknesses. In fact I said a prayer and thanked God for them. I plan on doing a devotional about it soon.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
Blessings!

Oh this applies for me today..feeling guilt for being "weak" when that is right where God wants me. Where he wants us all ~ his power coming through in our weaknesses...God bless.
ReplyDeleteSo true! However, I think most of us struggle with accepting this even when we do know it is true. We need to keep being reminded. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sandi for putting my prayer need and photo on your sidebar. It brings me so much comfort to know prayer warriors are lifting me up to our Lord in prayer. God bless you....
ReplyDeleteIt IS a hard truth, Sandi.
ReplyDeleteThank you for those thoughts today. Blessings ~

Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI am taking your big hug and wrapping it all around me. God knows I need it right now. I hope I get over the loss of that diamond, but I doubt I ever will. It was the most important thing my husband ever game me and I loved it. A new one will never be the same.
