Tea Time Tuesday

Hello dear friends and welcome to Tea Time. I hope you have been enjoying the long weekend.

Today is the day we honour our heroes and without their sacrifice, perhaps we wouldn't be able to enjoy our tea time today. We owe them so much for the freedom we enjoy!

I saw a church sign the other day that read, "If you are enjoying your freedom, be sure to be thankful."

My father-in-law was in the Navy during WW2 and his medals are proof of his sacrifice for our freedom. Someday they will be passed down to my son.

My FIL never liked to talk about the war as he witnessed so much suffering and death as well as losing friends and his brother.

Many sacrifices have been made over the past century. Too many have lost limbs, too many have lost their sanity, and too many gave all. Let's honour them today and wear our poppy proudly.

Now that we're in the midst of Autumn, I thought it was a good time to bring out my Johnson Bros. Friendly Village china. This china really appeals to this old-fashioned gal.

I love this charming pattern depicting by-gone days in an English country village. I love the leafy trim on each piece and I have such a soft spot for old barns and school houses.

Each piece is like taking a little trip back in time.

Sugar Maples

The Sugar Maples remind me of the sugar woods back home in New Brunswick.

The Old Mill

The dinner plate has The School House design, the salad plate depicts the Willow by the Brook, and the bread and butter plate depicts Sugar Maples, the same delightful scene as the teapot.

Most of the pieces I have were gifts from my hubby over the last few years. I love this square plate. The Covered Bridge once again reminds me of back home in NB.

All but my teapot and creamer are vintage.

Hubby knows my weakness for china and especially how sentimental I am.

The Ice House 

I thought my red roses would look nice in the silver teapot and make a pretty centerpiece for my tea table.

The weather has turned very cold and the sun has set so I have lit the fire. Time for a romantic cuppa tea with my favourite guy.

Welcome HOME everyone! I hope you are all enjoying this first week of November.


This week I hosted a tea party with a pink theme.
Pink roses on teacups....

Pink pumpkins and polka dots....

I am so happy about a deal I got over the weekend! This past Summer, Hubby and I went to  have our car inspected in Summerside and like we always do, we visited a favourite shop while we were there. I spied this beautiful picture and I fell in love with it. But it was out of my price range. Next time we visited the shop, the price had been reduced but I still didn't want to pay what they were asking.

I couldn't get this picture off my mind for months. Then this past weekend, we visited the shop again, and I could hardly believe it!

The picture was still there and it was marked down, from $129.99 to $39.99! That's almost a hundred dollar reduction. Too good to pass up and I just knew it was meant for me! Now, I'm doing the happy dance!

It is a photo of Kuekenhof Gardens in Holland taken by world renown UK photographer, Tom Mackie. My photo certainly doesn't do it justice. It it much sharper than it appears here but you get the idea. We hung it on the wall in the den opposite the sofa where we can enjoy it. The walls are painted a soft blue so the picture really looks good in there. It is a large picture, 40 X 30 X 1-2/3, and it has the wall all to itself.
Now, in the middle of the winter when the ground is frozen with ice and snow, I can look at the peaceful scene and dream of springtime.

Lynda @ Lynda Bergman Decorative Artisan shared the darling stools she painted with a bird motif. LOVE them!




Debbie @ Debbie-Dabble shared a little bit of everything but one of the things that really caught my eye was her gorgeous Fall wreath.




Penny @ Penny's Vintage Home shared her adorable life-sized pilgrims that she dolled up with her 'Penny touches.'

Millie @ Wreathmaker shared some small changes she made in the reading area of her bedroom. Love the colour!

Jann @ Have A Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson shared a lovely armoire which she transformed from brown to a beautiful duck egg blue. I so love this!
