A Visit to A Tea Room and A Yummy Dessert for Tea Time

I don't know how anyone can live without some small place of enchantment to turn to. ~ Marjorie Rawlings

Welcome to Tea Time  everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the long weekend. We went to an outdoor wedding on Saturday and it was a beautiful day for it. Actually we had fabulous weather all weekend; warm and sunny.
The wedding ceremony took place on a cliff with the ocean behind them. It was wonderful! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera and we were two hours from home so I couldn't just go and get it. Can you believe that? I will have to get the bride to send me some pictures.

Yesterday my son and his family added a new member to the family. Meet Boomer, their new fur baby!

He is a hybrid Shih Tzu - Pekinese cross breed. Isn't he adorable? Too bad he's on the other side of the country! They hope to bring him home next summer to meet us.

A few weeks ago, Hubby and I stopped into a Tea Room not far from our home. Grandma's Tea Room is owned by Cindy who runs it with her hubby Guy.

Some of you may remember Cindy who participates in my tea parties from time to time.

What we didn't realize was that the Tea Room was closed that day because it was Gold Cup and Saucer day which is the finale to Old Home Week here on the Island. I mentioned it in my previous post when I shared my niece's beautiful doilies.

Anyway, when I told Cindy who I was, she graciously invited us to sit out on their beautiful back deck where we enjoyed tall glasses of lemonade and a chat. It was a very warm day so the lemonade was very refreshing.
She later took us back through the garden to see their kiwi tree which is just a beautiful sight.

I had never seen one before and it was a perfect specimen. It had a few tiny kiwis growing on it already. I wanted to take a picture but unfortunately, I didn't. I got this photo off her FB page.

I did however take some pictures of the tea room.

This is one end of the tea room which has a beautiful mural on the back wall.

A tea cart holding china cups and saucers.

Footed teacups and a jar of sea glass. Cindy also makes jewelry out of sea glass.

A variety of hats.

Beautiful beaded bags.

More hats with a view to the back deck and garden.

We sat out on their deck under a beautiful arbor of wisteria. While sitting there the odd purple petal floated down to where Hubby and I were sitting. Such a peaceful place! You can see through the arbor to the garden beyond. There is also a gold fish pond and other delightful things to see.

We enjoyed our visit with Cindy and her hubby and we will most certainly go back when the tea room is open and enjoy her refreshments.

I got this photo off her FB page. Doesn't it look wonderful? I have heard that her home made scones are heavenly! Thank you Cindy and Guy for your wonderful hospitality.

Cindy's instructions:

*How to Make A Perfect Pot of Tea*
  • Pour a bit of hot water into your tea pot and swish it around ( this will warm your pot and prevent it from cracking)
  • Pour out the water and measure into teapot one teaspoon of loose tea per cup
  • Pour the boiling water over your tea leaves and replace lid
  • Put a tea cozy on your tea pot to keep your tea hot and steep your tea
  • Steep black tea for 3 to 5 minutes
  • Steep green tea for 2 minutes

Tea Time

My hubby surprised me with this pretty bouquet the other day so I have made it my center piece for today's tea. I thought the pinks, purples and greens would compliment my tea wares.

I am having Chai tea and I'm using my Sadler teapot along with my Royal Albert Road to the Isles teacup.

One side of the cup with its pretty autumnal landscape and a swag of purple heather just inside the rim.

The other side of the cup adorned with heather.

The saucer also has a ring of heather around the edge and a landscape.

Next time you pick up a teacup, think of a friend. Linda Gaither

Coffee is my wake-me-up. Tea is my hug-me-up. ~ Sam Title

My sweet is a Cinnamon Roll Cake with Orange Cream Cheese Icing. It is a wonderful treat with tea or coffee.

I got this recipe from Sherry at The Charm of Home and it is delicious. You may click on her link to go to her blog for the recipe if you wish. She displayed hers prettily on a plate but I left mine in the pan. Not as pretty a presentation but it is yummy! Thanks Sherry for the recipe. It was a big hit here and I will be making it again.

Pour me a little more tea, would you, dear? I can drink it till it comes out of my ears. ~ Garek- Star Trek Deep Space 9

Happy Tea Day!

Have a beautiful day everyone and the Lord bless you!

  7. First of all, congratulations on your new grand-fur-son! Boomer is adorable. I definitely would enjoy visiting this tearoom. I really like how you look out onto a garden. I've never seen a kiwi tree in person either. The Sadler teapot caught my eye with its pretty floral design and the cinnamon cake will taste wonderful with a cup of chai tea for sure. Happy three day weekend!

  20. Lovely Sandi, Thank you for having me for tea today. Things have quieted down in the tearoom and I'm able to get around for a visit. You encouraged me to start blogging again now that I have a little time on my hands, lol. Nice surprise to get flowers. I like your Sadler tea pot it is exciting with colours, I have one and it is just the plain Jane kind but it was a gift my Grandmother received for her 75th and it was gifted to me (memories) I'll have to go visit Sherry for the recipe as it looks so yummy. Well girlfriend, I look forward to our next visit so hubby and I can pose for a better picture, lol, take care
