I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”~ L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Hello friends and welcome to a Pink Tea Time Tuesday! I am delighted to have you visit today.
As I mentioned last week, I am posting pink all this month in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
The colour pink represents the sweetness and innocence of the child in all of us.
Many of us have had a brush with breast cancer or someone dear to us has. Too many have died from the disease.
As most of you know, I lost my best friend to breast cancer. I naturally think of her often but especially at this time of year. Not just because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month but because on Thanksgiving Day, which we celebrate here in Canada the second Monday in October, my friend's doctor {who was also a friend}, made a house call to tell her that her cancer had spread and she only had two months to live. We were all devastated! She only survived about six weeks after that.

Pink represents compassion, nurturing and love. It relates to unconditional love and understanding, and the giving and receiving of nurturing.
It is too late for so many but I pray, as many do, that someday they will find a cure. Not only for breast cancer, but every cancer.
Please make yourselves at home and I will pour you some Lady Grey tea.
Pink is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring.
You have seen these teacups before but because they are some of my prettiest pink teacups, I am featuring them today.
From top to bottom they are Royal Albert Lady Carlyle, RA Serena, and Aynsley. All made in England of fine bone china and each one, very elegant.
"All true tea lovers not only like their tea strong, but like it a little stronger with each year that passes." ~ George Orwell
The quote above is one that doesn't really apply to me but perhaps it does you? I like my tea a little on the weaker side, same as my coffee.
I am having tea in my Aynsley teacup. But you may choose which one you would like.
Lady Carlyle
Serena
I made a Cranberry-Apple Crumble and I will share the recipe later in the week. I am using a pink depression glass bowl sitting on a Johnson Bros. Rose Chintz plate. The vintage spoon is from a sweet blogger friend which has my initial engraved on it.
I like how the cranberries add a hint of pink to the apples. Warm cranberry-apple crumble, topped off with a dollop of fresh whipped cream, it's a wonderful dessert to have with tea or coffee.
Tea is like a hug and a handshake; something about it warms friendships and inspires confidences. ~ Victoria magazine
Thank you for stopping by for my Pink Tea and I would love to see what you are sharing today. Perhaps you are not a pink person but a blue one. Blue tea wares with some pink posies would be lovely. Anything pink would work but you don't have to share pink if you are not able to. I welcome any colour! Sharing your joy of tea time is the main thing.
Remember to take good care of yourself. Do regular self- examinations and be sure to get that mammogram. We want you staying 'in the pink.' Have a lovely day, dear friends!

ReplyDeleteHello Sandi, this is such a lovely and thoughtful post. Having just gone through tests with the possibility of cancer looming in a diagnosis - I know how it can affect one. Also having lost many loved ones to cancer - it does take it's toll on you - thankfully, we do have the best comforter of all - our LORD - so very delighted to join you. I do appreciate you hosting and sharing,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your three PRETTY PINK teacups are a great attention getter and a reminder for us to get our annual mammogram.
ReplyDeleteCrumble looks yummy with a hint of pink, love the post and your tea cups. Your pink collection of tea cups looks wonderful stacked, nice choice Earl Grey. It is that time of year, busy season has come to an end, Grandma's Tea Room is closed and we have hit the road on our big road trip across Canada. I'm not set up for Tea in an RV but now that I have time I'd like to pop in every now and then to see how you are doing. Take care, have a wonderful week, hugs

You have such a beautiful blog and i love your beautiful teacups as well. I am so sorry you lost your precious friend, it's just not fair. They say one in eight women will get breast cancer and i can certainly say it doesn't discriminate against who gets it and who doesn't. This was a very special post and touched my heart.
