A New Find for Tea Time Tuesday

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer's day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time." ~ John Lubbock

Hello ladies and welcome to Tea Time! I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

Hubby and I spent most of the weekend on the beach and oh, how lovely to be out there again! Listening to the sound of the waves and watching the clouds scoot across the sky, time seems to stand still out there and the hours can fly by without our even realising it.

Hubby always has binoculars with him so he won't miss anything. We enjoy watching the jets fly in over the water and we wonder who might be on that plane coming to visit our fair Island.

Barefoot on the beach; t'is a grand place to be this time of year!

"Summer - we have all seen-
A few of us - believed -
A few the more aspiring
Unquestionably loved... ." ~ Emily Dickinson

Back home, this luscious white peony is my introduction to a new teacup. The creamy petals and fragrance of this flower is a perfect companion.

"If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden." ~ Frances Hodgson Burnett -"The Secret Garden"

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." ~ William Morris

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Summerside  and while we were up there, we browsed a few shops. In one shop I spied this...

Sitting on a shelf beside its mate, which was a dark coral, my eye immediately went to this one because it is one of my favourite colours; well, it's a darker hue of it.

Isn't she a beauty?

Now those of you who have been following my blog for some time probably think that pink is my favourite colour. Well, it is one of my favs, and I thank you all for your very sweet remarks on my pink last week. But I have also loved robin egg blue for as long as I can remember and this beauty is a darker hue of that.  It was love at first sight!

This gorgeous set is an Aynsley circa 1934-1950 and is designed in the corset shape.

She's an elegant and shapely cup in a deep shade of turquoise with a handle, rim, and saucer trimmed in gold.

The interior of the cup is stunning with a detailed gold leafy design.

Wouldn't you enjoy sipping tea from her?

I know I do! Truly, she's the kind of teacup that makes you want to dress up in a lovely frock and wear your loveliest hat and a pair of gloves.

"Tea is like a hug and a handshake; something about it warms friendships and inspires confidences." ~ Victoria

She has no name so I will have to christen her with one of my own. I just haven't decided on one  yet. Any ideas?

A cinnamon roll from a good bakery accompanies my tea today. Seems a little "common" in the company of such a lovely lady but then these rolls really are good! And it's been too hot to bake lately.

In a couple of weeks, I would like to do something different. Since it is July, and some are celebrating Christmas in July, why not celebrate Christmas in July with a Tea Party?
You may share anything you like in the way of tea things but how fun it would be to share something relating to Christmas. Maybe some Christmas cookies and a red teacup, etc....

Let's do a Christmas in July Tea Party on July 22. I even made a button for you which you are welcome to use in your post that week.

Then in August I am planning to host another themed tea party but I'll wait until next week to tell you about it.

Thank you for visiting today. I would love it if you joined me with your own special tea things.

As a courtesy, please link back to me so that your visitors may find their way here to visit with all my lovely participants.

  3. The way you described your day at the beach and the wonderful pics, makes me want to go running by the sea! We are far away from the nearest beach, like four hrs. and the weather is cold down here in the southern hemisphere, so I'd have to wait til Nov., lol.. I was in Flo. resently, so it was great too! Thank you for hosting dear Sandi. Have a super week.

  10. Hello Sandi.....Your new cup is one of the most elegant and gorgeous tea cups I've ever seen.

If she were mine, I'd name her Robin's Egg Eloquence or Robin's Egg Treasure.

I also loved the white peony in that lovely crystal dish. Susan

  15. The beach looks gorgeous, and that beautiful clear blue sky.
The teacup is very pretty. I think it is wonderful that so much attention is paid to the inside of the cup too. I imagine the tea would taste that little bit better from a cup like that.

  34. Oh! I do love an Aynsley!!! Especially this shape... it's next on my 'collecting' list! :) Hmmm... the color makes me think of the sky in the summer. Perhaps 'Summer Skye' or 'Summer Skies' (unless, of course, PEI skies are different from southern US skies!)... maybe 'Summer Thoughts'? Even if it doesn't have a name, it's still beautiful!!! :) Lovely post!!!

  35. Hi Sandy: Love the Aynsley! I want to party in July! Count me in! Blessings, Martha

  36. Truly a magnificent stunning beauty of a tea cup. She will fashion her name lovely whatever you decide.

Time for the beach is always a good time I say, and there isn't much time these days around here. I'm thinking Christmas in July is a lovely theme, I may pop in and visit between making beds and tea, Cindy

  37. Hey Sandi, The beach is such a peaceful place. Did I read that you're on PEI? I heard some celebrities were married there this past weekend. Maybe they were the ones flying over!

Gorgeous tea cup and saucer! The color is beautiful and I love the gold design. Happy Tuesday, Michelle

  40. Hi Sandi, thank you for hosting exciting tea parties. I would like to join your Christmas in July tea party. And that robin blue tea cup is so unique. I haven't seen such kind before. If that was mine I would name it Julie, for the reason of you found her on the month of July and it's in the middle of summer when the seas and the skies are in their bluest. Hope that make sense : )

May you have a good week.
