Tea Time Tuesday ~ White China and Lace

Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and the pleasures of company. ~ Author unknown

Hello tea friends and welcome to another Tea Time Tuesday. This is my first tea party for the month of September.

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Labour Day weekend. Summer is coming to a close quickly and already there is a change in the air. The trees behind our home are taking on that look which I dread. It's rather early for them to be changing so quickly.
But, we had the most beautiful weather over the weekend. We spent a lot of time at the beach and enjoyed every minute of it! Oh, to enjoy it just a little longer...

Do you like playing with your teacups? How about flowers? I took this lovely white rose, fern and baby's breath and wrapped it all up in lace. Then I used a pearl hatpin to pin it together. I thought it made a nice photo for my tea today.

Like roses in a garden,
kindness fills the air
with a certain bit of sweetness
as it touches everywhere.
Helen Steiner Rice

This week, I have a sweet little teacup to share with you. In my travels over the Summer, I found this teacup and had to bring it home with me. It was a great price too so I couldn't resist!

I have a thing for creamy white. This sweet teacup will keep company with my other white teacups.

It is a Skye McGhie called Chantilly Lace. Being the girly-girl that I am,  I simply couldn't resist the charm of its creamy colour, its simplicity, and the pretty cut-outs around the edge of the saucer.

Notice the shape of the cup itself. It reminds me of a calla lily.

A little lace and some baby's breath.

In the tiny petal
of a tiny flower
that grew from a tiny pod
is the miracle and the mystery
of all creation and God.
Helen Steiner Rice

One morning as I was sipping my coffee, I was admiring my white teacups which were all sitting on the coffee table in front of me. The early morning sunlight coming through the window bathed them in a soft ethereal light and they looked so pretty that I had to snap a picture of them.

I wasn't able to quite capture that magical moment, but I tried.

Each saucer has a beautiful cut-out design.

Chantilly Lace

Cream Lace

Pierced Lace

All three teacups are by Skye McGhie and made of porcelain.

It looks elegant on black and cream toile too.

I like the pop of the red carnations.

Would you like some Berry Shortcake with your tea?

Come, let us have tea and continue to talk about happy things. ~ Chaim Potok

My Uncle Allan and Aunt Judy were over from New Brunswick for a visit a week ago and I served them some Shortcake with fresh blueberries and raspberries. This is one of Hubby's favourite desserts. I thought you might enjoy some too!

Charming, serene and totally feminine, I think this little teacup says it all.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing my new teacup. I am delighted you have stopped by today and I would love for you to join me for Tea Time Tuesday! All you have to do is share a favourite tea cup or teapot, a coffee mug, or something tea related. If you wish, you may do coffee instead of tea or the following is acceptable too: apple cider, iced tea or iced coffee, hot chocolate, lemonade, or punch. The TTT button on my sidebar is available for you to use in your post or place on your sidebar if you wish. A poem, tea quote, or scripture verse would be more than welcome!
Please link back to me so that your visitors may find their way here to visit with all my lovely participants. Thank you!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I have a Giveaway coming up soon. It will be for my Followers only, both old and new. So, stay tuned to Tea Time Tuesday for details.

  35. Joining your site from Lace, I recently found out my girls had inherited a tea cup each from their grandma who passed away several years ago, she apparently had set aside a tea cup and saucer for each of her grand daughters while she was alive and had planned that each of them would have something to remember her by.. I was truly touched, to see the cups and here the story behind them, I think I will have to write a post on it..
    thank you for sharing,
I particularly like the lace cut outs on your tea sets, I have often admired these when looking in nice stores. Happy afternoon tea time to you..
