At the close of a long hot summer, the appearance of the pumpkin heralds the welcome arrival of autumn. ~ Kari Spencer
Hello my lovely friends and welcome to my little blog!
Today I'm sharing a little tablescape with you. It was raining hard so it was dark and dreary out when I took my pictures. You can see the tamaracs in our back yard are changing colour.
I had planned to gather some leaves from our yard but it was not a good day to be out so I settled for faux. I have the chandelier on because we need the lighting.
I started with these lovely hydrangeas and a few little pumpkins.
Then I brought out some blue and white transferware. I think the blue looks wonderful with orange, don't you?
The teacup is Johnson Bros. Old Britain Castles.
The pumpkin soup tureens with their matching plates were a gift from my son last Christmas.
He found them at Sur La Table in Colorado where he is teaching and doing research at the university. I love the embossed pumpkins adorning the rim of the plate! He gave me a set of four plates and four soup tureens. A meal is always more enjoyable when you have fun dishes, don't you think?
The blue dinner plate is The Victorian English Pottery EST 1819 by Edward Challinor in England. The cream napkins have a leaf design and I'm using my mother's vintage wedding silver. Oops, I just realized I forgot the water goblets.
My son chose these soup tureens because he knows of my fondness for little white pumpkins. He is so thoughtful! We have enjoyed chili in them and today we're going to have a hearty home made creamy vegetable soup served from this soup tureen.
Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things. ~ Chaim Potok
The teapot of course is Blue Willow and it's made by Churchill.
Just a simple little tablescape for two, nothing fancy.
I found this on the internet and thought it perfect to end my post with.
Have a beautiful day everyone and thank you so much for your visit.

Those little soup pumpkins are darling Sandi. They had a Sur La Table Shop in Boulder, Colorado that we went too. I think they had every kitchen item you could dream of there. I love your Blue Willow teapot and all your transferware. Hope your week is lovely! Thanks for sharing and linking.
ReplyDeleteWasn't that so sweet of your son to gift you with the darling white pumpkins and plates? He knows his mom very well! Your whole table is just so sweet, and yes blue and orange look so lovely together. Your soup tureen and teapot, along with your teacups and plates are perfect on your autumn table. ReplyDeleteYour table looks so pretty Sandi. I love orange and blue together. The leaves have really fallen from their branches around here over the weekend with all the wind and rain. It's looking quite barren but there are still oak, tamarack and beech and a few maples lending some rust and orange to the landscape. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower. I loved to see the design in the cup and the tea mug. It looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi. Fall is indeed here, but I don't mind. I love the rich colors. Blue transferware is always perfect as far as I am concerned! Lol! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

I love those cute little pumpkin tureens & plates! A sort of shabby chic look to them. You have a very special son to think of his mom like this. I love blue & white china and it has turned out that all my good china is blue & white. Your soup tureen and willow tea pot are beautiful pieces to admire while enjoying a hearty soup. I hope the rain moves on for you. We had a drizzly day yesterday which I only enjoy if I'm walking in the woods ;)
