Welcome Spring!

"It is spring again.
The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart." Rainer Maria Rilke

Hello dear bloggy friends! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. Some of us celebrated St Patrick's Day with our green and Irish treats.

The teacups are from left to right, a Claddagh cup which was a gift from my son, a lovely green Colclough, and a hand painted one created by an artist blogger friend.

A dessert made with pistachio pudding and St. Paddy's Day cupcakes with shamrock sprinkles.

I have been counting down the days till Spring for a while and happy days are here again because it's this weekend. Yay! Today I am celebrating the splendour of springtime. Won't you join me?

Spring is a glorious season of renewal and soon all the songbirds will be back and I look forward to hearing their birdsong in the trees behind our home. Another thing I especially enjoy is the sound of the those little tree frogs called spring peepers singing.

Soon bright flowers will be putting on a show in their beds and the grass will turn green. The trees will be showing off their lacy boughs and bees and butterflies will be flying about.

You know Spring is here when you see new lambs skipping about in the fields and the cattle are grazing again. It's a wondrous and magical season and I thank God for it.

The little bird's nest you see is one my son brought home to me.

I can't think of a pattern more fitting for springtime than my beloved vintage Rose Chintz made by Johnson Brothers in England. Any of you who have been following me for any length of time know this is my signature pattern and why I love it so much.

It is so pretty and girly and whenever I look at it, it reminds me of my childhood and visits to my Auntie P's home in New Brunswick, Canada.

This is a pattern I fell in love with at an early age. The big pink roses and blue forget-me-nots made me happy just to look at it. I love the little sprig of forget-me-nots and a little rose bud inside the cup.

Most of my china came from my beloved Auntie P who passed it on to me when she was down-sizing. I cherish it and her of course, as she is one of my dearest friends.

So please join me for a cup of tea. The lavender doily you see beneath the cup is one of a set of doilies sent to me by a blogging friend.

I am using my coffee pot instead of the teapot because it holds more.

I have been sipping gallons of lemon water and lemon ginger tea this week because I have been down with a nasty cold/flu. Do you like tea when you're under the weather?

But indeed I would rather have nothing but tea. ~ Jane Austen - Mansfield Park

Now, tell me what you love most about springtime.

Thank you for visiting and have a beautiful weekend. The Lord bless you!

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass so fresh and sweet;
For song of bird and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear and see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee! ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. Hi Sandi. I hope you are feeling better soon.
    I had that nasty flu last week. I drank a lot of black tea with lemon. I am allergic to ginger.
    Your Irish teacups are really pretty and the pistachio pudding looks delicious. I must make it sometime.
    I love the Rose Chintz.dishes. It's great that you have a coffee pot to the set. It is so perfect for Spring time. Have a good weekend. xo

  2. Our grass is already delightfully green, but we had snow showers today! We may have snow tomorrow into Monday as well. Winter is taking one last gasp, and then it will be gone!

    I'm enjoying the cherry trees in bloom in our area, and the daffodils. Soon the tulips will be blooming and the pear trees, lilacs...ah! I love it all!

  3. Your Rose Chintz is so pretty, Sandi. I bet your tea tastes wonderful in that beautiful tea-cup. What a sweet little bird nest from your son. It seems to have kept well over the years. I have one found last year on my grandmother's property. What do I love most about the spring...hearing the birds again.

  4. An inspiring spring tea post Sandi, I think you folks out east are bracing for one last winter blast on Monday, aren't you?
    I have a couple of bird's nest and always marvel at the workmanship to them, all done with a beak and maybe a well placed foot.
    Your lavender doilies are pretty, I am blessed to have some as well.

  7. How sweet to own something so precious from your Aunt. I love that pattern too and you always do such a lovely table scape. Here on the NC coast we are choking on the pollen and I'm downing the allergy meds, but I know it will be over soon and bring spring flowers and green grass!

    Happy Spring.

  8. Love your tea set, it is so pretty. I hope you are soon all well again. The lemon-ginger tea sounds very healing and soothing. I too like to drink healing teas when I don't feel well.

    I was born today, on the first day of spring, 67 years ago. Born a month early.

    Spring is a lovely time of year, even down here in s.e. FL where we hardly have changes in seasons. Flowering trees bloom, more birds are singing, flowery scents are filling the air. The temperatures are nice too.

  9. I'm with you Sandi. I love Spring. I love the brilliance of the sun sparkling on the water, tiny buds on trees promising greens and colours to come, people outside, smiling, chatting, no heavy winter gear, boots and coats, mitts and hats. And mostly the sound of a variety of birds returning back. Happy Springtime PEI buddy.

  16. Dear Sandi:
    I love your spring tea and your Rose Chintz coffee pot is like one I have - my only piece of Rose Chintz which I had given to my Mother In Law many years ago and then she gave back to me. All your green pieces are really perfect for a spring posting. We are making some progress each day Sandi but of course there is much work to do here. We just went out and cleared enough to get our car in the garage because it might hail here tomorrow since the cold air from Colorado is coming after us here meeting warm air. It was in the 70's today here. It was a blizzard back in Colorado. We had to call back to our bank there and the ladies said the bank was closing early today because of a blizzard. Thank you Sandi for all the joy you bring to others through blogging!
