Christmas is a season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame for charity in the heart. ~ Washington Irving
Good morning dear friends! I hope all my American friends are enjoying their Thanksgiving holiday.
Because I'm going to have a busy weekend, I decided to put my post up early.
I have been enjoying Christmas music, baking, crafting, decorating and tucking away gifts in secret places.
At the after-Christmas sales last year I found two of these little 12 inch tall trees.
One I have taken off the stand and glued into a ceramic boot which was part of my mother's Christmas bouquet last year. I put cotton around the base of the tree then decorated it with a few white balls and little sugared cranberry ornaments. I also glued a wee teddy on to the boot.
What do you think? I'm still working on the other tree.
Timothy the Teddy bear relaxing on the boot.
The last time we were in Vancouver, BC to spend Christmas with our son and his family, I found these delightful Spode Christmas Tree mugs for half price. There were four in the box.
About a month ago I found the matching plates. I was so tickled because there were four of these too. I love the candy cane edge; very festive!
Spode has been creating beautiful products using classic designs and techniques since 1770. One of Spode's most famous designs is Christmas Tree, the original holiday pattern since 1938.
Another day I found this darling Christmas plate called Andover made by 222 Fifth which I think looks wonderful with everything else.
I adore the old-fashioned design and the pine cones around the rim of the plate. I do like matchey-matchey which tends to be more formal but I also like mismatched pieces because it makes for a setting with lots of personality.
The most trying hours in life are between four o'clock and the evening meal. A cup of tea at this time adds a lot of comfort and happiness. ~ Royal S. Copeland
After working on my wee trees, it's time to take a break. Would you like to join me for some tea or coffee and a slice of my crustless pumpkin pie?
It's going fast!
Perhaps a lot of you are tired of pumpkin pie but not me as it's one of my favourites.
Would you like the recipe?
Crustless Pumpkin Pie
Spray 9 or 10 inch glass pie plate with cooking spray. Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees.
15-oz can pumpkin or 2 cups
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
2 large eggs slightly beaten
1- 12 oz can Carnation Evaporated milk
Mix the eggs with the pumpkin and then add the dry ingredients. Mix well and add the evaporated milk. If using the 9 inch pie plate, you will have a little pumpkin mixture left over. You can cook that in the oven or microwave in a separate dish.
Pour into prepared pie plate and bake for 55-60 minutes. Test with a knife. If the knife comes out clean, you know it's done. Cool for two hours and refrigerate. Serve with whipped cream and enjoy!
Thank you for stopping by today and please join me on Monday for another No Place Like Home. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The wee little bear looks so cute! Your mugs and plates really speak Christmas! Pumpkin pie is also one of my favorites so this looks like a great one to try🌲🌲 have a wonderful weekend as we start to prepare for the Christmas season! ❄️❄️
ReplyDeleteSandi, I love what you've done with your little trees. The tree in the boot is just too cute and the little bear is the icing on the cake! A dear friend of mine had Spode Christmas "everything". She collected it for years. Always a treat to go to her home during the holidays and see the table set with Spode. The Andover plate is very pretty with it's transfer-ware design. You have a good start on Christmas decorating.
ReplyDeleteYour tree in a boot is adorable! I also love Spode's Christmas Tree pattern. A few years ago, I found a Christmas Tree mug at Value Village. Then in 2013, I purchased the teapot during HomeSense;s Boxing Day sale (50% off!). Have you seen any Spode items at HomeSense?
ReplyDeleteActually, Margie, HomeSense is where I found the Christmas Tree plates. I was thrilled to find them!
DeleteThanks for the recipe, my son who is gluten free, was just asking me to make a pumpkin pie without crust today and I told him I wasn't sure about that! So now I have no excuses!

ReplyDeleteYou found some real treasures, Sandi! Looks like you are all set up for getting in the Christmas Spirit!
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkin pie - yum - I never tire of it, either. I make it year round, which some think is weird but I really love it.
This year my eldest daughter made the desserts and her pumpkin pie was hands down the creamiest custard-like yummiest pumpkin pie I have ever had. It was unreal. I had TWO pieces today!!! (blush)
Anyway, Thanksgiving was wonderful, and now is behind us, so I have a LOT to do to prepare for a very special birthday, our Lord Saviour's birthday celebration! : - )
Lovely treasures. And your pumpkin pie -- oh my that looks toothsome!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful weekend, Sandi...

I loved reading this and seeing your beautiful decorations. You are incredibly creative. The bear, boot and tree are a work of art. Hugs Sandi and wishes for a beautiful weekend.
ReplyDeleteStopping for a cup of tea during a busy day is restorative, isn't it? I'm getting some decorating done today, too. I brought home some of the Andover plates (from HomeSense) without the transferware design. I love the rich red border.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy puttering for the holidays.
I love the tree in the boot with little teddy resting on it. It's really sweet. I do love Spode's Christmas Tree china. Such a classic pattern. Have a wonderful week ahead Sandi. Blessings, Pam

ReplyDeleteI love the Spode dishes, but that Andover plate is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSandi,
ReplyDeleteThe boot with the little tree is so sweet!! I love both dishes but I have to admit that I have never seen the candy cane trim on a Spode plate! I LOVE it!!
Thanks so much for your visits and for all your kind words!! I finished decorating the Powder Room today so that is the last room that I had to finish. Now I will be cleaning , tweaking and crafting!!
Hugs,
Deb
An awesome deal on the Spode Sandi and I like how you repurposed the red boot with a little Christmas tree. I only have my ceramic tree and our silver tinsel one left to put out and decorate. Do you think we'll see any snow for Christmas this year?
ReplyDeleteBlessings on the first Sunday of Advent.
The Santa boot looks adorable, Sandi! You've enhanced it so perfectly. Your new Spode mugs and plates will be fun to use this Christmas season. As for the Andover plate...be still my heart! What an old fashioned design it is, and one I've never seen before.
ReplyDeleteI will need to try your crustless pumpkin pie. It's a little different than the one I used before and it looks nice and spicy. I'd love some with a cup of tea.
Sandi, your posts are always charming. I love the Spode and all the gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteI'll see you on Monday with my mantel.
Happy Sunday.
I love that you found Chrstmas Tree plates with the candy strip edges! I love Christmas Tree...such a wonderful Christmas pattern. You are way ahead of me with decorating. Love your Santa boot tree base!

Love the little boot for your tree, Sandi, so cute! Love your Spode mugs and plate.
ReplyDeleteThe pie looks so inviting, but I love the crust on pies, my hubby doesn't and I usually end up eating his.
The Andover plate is a gem! You found a real treasure, Sandi I love the pattern and the rich color of the plate. Splendid idea putting the wee tree in that adorable boot :) And the pumpkin pie looks absolutely delish...a must try! Pinning! Happy week! Hugs, Poppy
ReplyDeleteSandi, I'm so delighted to be able to share a tea post this morning! For tea lovers or those looking for a gift for a tea lover. Love the idea of crustless pumpkin pie -- I probably consume waaaaaayy too much pie crust!
ReplyDeleteSandi, I love the Andover plate and the peppermint rimmed ones are so fun! I'm sure your pie is delicious, but I, unlike most people love the crust. lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
