Hello friends and welcome to my Cottage. I am delighted you have stopped by!
This is my last Tea Time in October. Next week, everyone will be talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. We Canadians just celebrated our Thanksgiving two weeks ago so we get a little earlier jump on planning for the Christmas holidays which is always fun.
Last week I showed you how beautiful our woods and trails were looking all aglow with coloured leaves. Well this week, it's quite a different story!
Looking out the front window, the leaves are pretty much off the maple tree on our front lawn. {Actually, they have all blown off since I took the picture.} The big ole pumpkin sitting in the birdbath is looking rather haggard and some crows decided they needed a drink from the water that accumulated from the last rain we had.
There were three crows on the bird bath but by the time I got the camera, there was only one. The other two were strutting about the yard.
This crow wasn't just getting a drink, he was poking holes in the pumpkin; crazy bird!
The temps are starting to dip and it's cold outside. Time for a nice hot cup of tea....
I have set my tea out on the dining room table.
I have decided to use my purple tea things today. I found some nice little pumpkins so they are coming to the party as well as some carnations from the grocery store.
The teacups are from Grace Tea Ware and the teapot and plate are by Allison L.L. Fine Porcelain called Purpie Pansy.
"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion." ~ Henry David Thoreau
The pretty doilie from Bernideen, which I won in her Giveaway a few years ago, is adorned with pumpkins and purple grapes so it all came together nicely. Please remember our dear friend Bernideen in your prayers as her mother passed away on the weekend.
I am also using my favourite vintage silver spoon gifted to me by another sweet bloggy friend.
"The tea party is a spa for the soul. You leave your cares and work behind." ~ Alexandra Stoddard
With pumpkin season, we have to have pumpkin tea so allow me to pour you a cup of Pumpkin Chai from David's Tea.
This is by far my tea of choice these days. Isn't it pretty with the wee orange hearts?
It is a blend of black tea, cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel, squash, carrot, caramel, pumpkin candies, & natural flavouring. Delicious!
I made some zucchini bread. One loaf has been consumed already and this one was in the freezer. So out it came for today's tea time.

Sandy, How wonderful to have purple and pumpkins used for this fall tea time. The Grace cups and saucers are so sweet and the pansy teapot and plate are a great accompaniment! Your fall outdoors has certainly changed and we are just coming into the fall trees changing plus our temperatures will be from 75 to low 80's. I'm always glad to view your posting for I feel we have had a visit! Have a lovely fall week!

ReplyDeleteStunning tea set all set on a beautiful table. I imagine it is already cold there cause it went down to the 40's here this past weekend. Luckily we were in New Orleans where it was in the 60's and now back to 70's here. ..Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tea set you have Sandi!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say thank you too for your kind comments on my blog. They helped to ease the pain.

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteYour crow and bird bath photos are great! How funny!
Your purple tea vignette is absolutely gorgeous! You always have the best quotes to go along with what you are writing about, I like that.
My neighbor just got back from your neck of the woods. They really liked PEI. She was there during the week, therefore everything was closed! So that was a bummer for her.
Thanks so much for hosting,
Gina
I love the purple teapot! It is so beautiful,I think I may even like it better than "Old Country Roses" which has always been my favorite!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a real live Halloween scene with the crows pecking on your pumpkin. Thanks for hosting and for joining HSH!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Lovely photos and post . Thanks for sharing ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteHello Sandi
ReplyDeleteI like the purple pansy china and the spoon from a friend. Bernideen always has beautiful table toppers and it's nice you had the opportunity to win one.
I've had no time to set up a tea post but still like to come and visit.
Judith
Hi Sandi: Love the purple table today. Just perfect for the last tea party of October. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely! I am feeling like it is spring, and that is a wonderful feeling! Well, that is what tea is for, to take you to a beautiful place of tranquility. Your tea time table is exactly that. Gorgeous china, and delicious looking bread. I love warm zucchini bread.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri
Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI love your lavender/purple china with the pumpkins. It is so beautiful as always. Thank you for hosting Tea Time Tuesday! Take care,
Karen
Hello, Sandi! Ok, Pumpkin Chai? I have to check that out. Oh, my! I LOVE the sugared pumpkin and photo of the crows- wow. Your post is lovely. I hope you enjoy the last days of October. Thx for hosting. :)

This is a very pretty teaset, and the tea looks like it should be on display!
ReplyDeleteI love the crow next to the pumpkin.
That tea sounds absolutely delicious. And the violet teacup is perfect as usual.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Sandi! A lovely teatime with you, once again. I have to remark how much difference the doilie can make as the foundation for a tea setting. My grandmother collected vintage linens and passed many onto me but I am fearful to actually use them. Silly - perhaps I shall take some out sometime for a set-up teatime, though I don't know if I could serve live tea and cake for fear of stains. The orange and purple in the doilie are perfect for a fall tea!
ReplyDeleteJoy!
Kathy
Oh I love the pretty purple how refreshing the color is since I always just see blue and white sets at my house
ReplyDeleteI see #10 has a cup like I have so will visit her
janice
Dear Sandi,
ReplyDeleteyour tea time is always very special. What a pretty china with purple flowers on it. The crows in your garden make a perfect Halloween feeling. I guess the clever crow wanted to get the pumpkin seeds.
Thank you for sharing this lovely tea time and for hosting this sweet event.
Best greetings, Johanna
Dear Sandi ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting..Your " Grace" set is simply charming and the teapot has such beautiful lines. I love it....
YUMMY ..I'd love to taste that Zuchine loaf..it's one of my favourites. Yes temperatures are falling here too and I cringe to think of snow .
In the meantime , let's just enjoy the brilliant oranges of the pumpkins and the season. Thanks for so beautifully sharing....xoxoxox
Lol, crazy bird! I love crows and love watching them. They're the brats of the bird world aren't they? Your pansy and violet tea service looks lovely. I love violets and they are my middle daughter's favourite flower and her daughter's second name. :) Hope your week is shaping up to be lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteYou've delighted us with a pretty autumn tea, today, the pumpkin orange against the violet purple is so pleasing to the eye, and the pumpkin loaf, to our taste buds!
So inviting, indeed!
I'm a little late to your lovely gathering, but thanks for hosting and have a sweet week!
Poppy
Lovely, lovely, tea - looks so inviting. I love the pictures of the crows and pumpkins in the birdbath. I have a new appreciation for crows after learning how intelligent they are! I love the T. Kincaid quote. Thank you for hosting. Always a favorite party to browse - though this morning it's coffee in my cup! Have a great week!
