A Peachy Tea for Tea Time Tuesday

"Find ecstacy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough." ~ Emily Dickinson

Welcome, my lovely friends, to my last Tea Time for the month of May and Happy Memorial Day to all my American friends!

Did anyone watch Pearl Habour over the weekend? I did and it gets to me every time. The movie score is so moving and it's easy to be swept up into the lives of those portrayed in the story. One wants to keep the box of kleenex handy!

"There's simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

....Meanwhile, back at home.... When my children were growing up, I decorated our home mainly in blue with accents of peach. Having four men in the house called for colours that were not exactly pastel. I did however find that peach coordinated wonderfully well with blue.

There is no blue in my tea post today but there is some peach. Peach has long been a favourite colour of mine and when I saw these peachy-coral roses at the grocery store, I knew just which teacup to use. I tucked in a few tulips from my garden and they make for a pretty bouquet.

Of fairies and flowers and teacups....,

Peach roses express appreciation or gratitude and I hope these roses convey to you how much you all mean to me.

A wee rose snuggles up to this pretty teacup.

"Little flower, but if I could understand what you are, root and all in all, I should know what God and man is." ~ Tennyson

I am using this vintage {Circa. 1950s} English Royal Chelsea teacup which I found in a thrift shop a couple of years ago. She bears no name so I call her Chelsea.

Chelsea is such a warm peach colour trimmed in gold and adorned with sprays of red, blue, pink, and yellow posies on the inside of the cup as well as in the center of the saucer.

It has a unique gold trim; little golden strokes.

For our tea, I made plain tea biscuits, no fancy scones. A little red transferware joins the party.

"Life is like a cup of tea....it's all in how you make it." ~ Unknown

I am using the sugar bowl for my jam jar. I like to put different pieces to work instead of always using what is expected. Do you ever do that? My mock Devonshire cream sits next to it.

Happiness is sharing tea with a friend.

Tea biscuits with home made strawberry jam and Devonshire cream go well with  a cup of ginger-peach tea.

"Come and share a pot of tea. There's just enough for you and me. And if by chance we drink it up, we'll make ourselves another cup!" ~ Unknown

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. I hope you all have a peach of a day.

Please Note ~ After this week I will be taking a blog break so there will be no Tea Time Tuesday for the next couple of weeks. However, I am letting my tea party run a little longer for your convenience. Take care and be sure to relax with a good cup of tea and perhaps that book you've been meaning to read.  God bless!

  1. As that "biscuit" drips with strawberry jam and devonshire cream - I would hardly qualify the word "PLAIN" - ha! Pass me one of those plain biscuits please! Enjoy your break!

  5. Hi Sandi,
I always enjoy your quotes especially the Emerson one. Your peach roses are gorgeous, I bet that grocery store loves you! What is the population there on the island and are there a lot of grocery stores there?
This is going to sound silly, but I was wondering if people drink hot tea year round or only in cooler months and if the tea is not hot do you still drink it out of teacups? I have never been much of a tea drinker and have started more so lately so I was just trying to do things right. *winks*
    Have a great week!

  9. Hello Sandi
I like your peach roses and teacup, a colour soft enough not to be confused with orange.
Plain biscuits become special once the jam and devonshire cream come out!
    Enjoy your blogging break.

  12. The peachy teacups and roses are so beautiful, I especially love the first teacup.

The color peach also makes me hungry for one of my favorite fruits and now I am wanting some peach pie or peach jam on home made biscuits!

Thank-you again for hosting this tea time Sandi, you are a gracious hostess.

  14. What a lovely tea Sandi, always so lovely. I messed up so much on the tea today, it's almost like I didn't finish it, so next week I will repeat it and do it properly. But then you won't be here. Have a great break...

  16. Chelsea is beautiful, Sandi! And that you found her in a thrift store is amazing to me! I almost never find lovely porcelain teacups in the thrift store.

I did not watch "Pearl Harbor" in honor of Memorial Day, but I did watch "The Fighting Sullivans." It's the heart-tugging story of The Sullivan family of Iowa. All 5 of their sons enlisted in the Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They were all on the same ship, and all 5 perished with their ship. Wow, did the Sullivan family give much for the cause of freedom!

I'm in the process of resurrecting my "Fill My Cup with Beauty" blog. Although classic film blogging is my main blogging love, I have missed sharing teacups, flowers, and other beautiful things. My recent visits to your tea party have made that clear to me!

    Have a lovely day.

    Hugs,
    Patti

  20. Good morning Sandi, I'm just in time for you to enjoy a little break, lol I'm feeling always late these days.

This was a fantastic find this English Royal Chelsea teacup, you must visit the thrift shops just before I. Where does the name transfer ware come from? I suppose I could look it up but enjoy your voice even in writing. The idea of biscuits makes me want to make some. Enjoy your tea break

  21. Oh Sandi, another lovely Tea Time! Your cup is so pretty and an unusual color. I like the way you mixed things up with the red transferware. And the biscuit! I'll have 2 please! I can't wait to visit you someday (!)

  22. Hi Sandi! Delightful that you stopped by and hope you do again and see the link I put up for my play this week - cast photos and behind the scene peek and link to where you can see the play LIVE ONLINE!

Between the show and my teaching semester, I have had precious little time to blog. I have missed you and our tea ladies so very much! However, I have been collecting photos of my tea events - including the sweet Beatrix Potter Tea Party I did for my preschool class - which I shall be preparing for upcoming teatime link-ups!

Now - about that teacup - I've had my eye on one very like it at my friends tea shop and I think the peach/salmon colored one of the four is my favorite. She has three others in yellow, green, and champagne color and I fear they are out of my price range. Perhaps a treat later this summer - at least one of them - if they don't sell before then. To see them displayed together is lovely!

Blessings to you - hope you catch my show! See you at teatime soon!!

    Joy!
    Kathy

  23. Hi Sandi, I'm loving all the beautiful peachy creaminess of your photos. They feel so girly and warm. That tea cup is beautiful. I don't think I have a peach cup in my collection...something to be on the lookout for. :) Have a lovely rest of the week and I'm off to check out your Wed post. Hugs.

  24. Peach is such a calming color. I had a peach dining room in my first home. Maybe it's time to add a little to my life again.

  25. Those biscuits would really go well with the ginger-peach tea, especially with a good serving of strawberry jam and Devonshire cream. And yes, I don’t think it qualifies as “simple” after you put a healthy portion of strawberry and cream on it. Haha!
