"Friendship," said Christopher Robin, "is a very comforting sort of thing to have." ~ A. A. Milne
Welcome to my first Tea Time Tuesday in February, my lovely friends!
What a busy week I had last week! I was very late visiting many of you and I apologize for that. We had company, appointments, more computer woes, and one day I spent with my mother in the hospital. Speaking of computers, I have a love-hate relationship with them. How about you?
It's a winter wonderland out there today and we're expecting high winds which will blow that snow around. My hubby is back to work today after six weeks of vacation and he will encounter mountains of fresh white snow to walk through. Meanwhile, back here at the cottage, my days will be getting back to normal once again.
While we were out west visiting our family at Christmas time, I went to HomeSense and found a little something that is a perfect match to some other pieces I have. Wanna see?
Love the little butterfly inside the creamer. I already have a teacup, a teapot, and now I have the creamer. I am so happy to have a little more blue and white to add to my collection and these pieces are so pretty with their butterflies, dragonflies, and florals!
Sweet? So let's have some tea, shall we?
"I don't feel very much like Pooh today," said Pooh. "There, there," said Piglet. "I'll bring you tea and honey until you do."
But first we need a bouquet. I found these at the grocery store for half price so they came home with me. I actually got two bouquets out them. Pale yellow roses with a soft pink center and sunny yellow tulips. They whisper of springtime, don't you think?
The tea things.....
And a cake....
This is my take on a Victoria Sponge cake. I will share the recipe at my HOME party on Wednesday.
Would you care for some cake with your tea?
Hubby usually doesn't get too excited over cake, but he loved this one!
I am using my mother's little silver tea spoon which she got one year the Queen visited Canada. The inscription reads, 'Queen Elizabeth 11 Visits Canada 1959.' Her Majesty is on the handle.
Life is like a teacup
to be filled to the brim
and enjoyed with friends.~ Unknown
Next week I will be hosting a Tea of Hearts in celebration of Valentines Day. It will be a time to share your hearts, pinks, and reds, and maybe even some cookies. Hope to see you then. Wishing you all a beautiful day.
"But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13
Thankfully, Hubby just arrived back home from work. It's not fit for man nor beast out there today. *Sigh of relief!*
I am delighted you have stopped by for tea today! Your presence always makes my tea party that much more special and I am happy to see all your tea things, whether you have shared them before or not. This tea party is all about sharing your joy of tea time and any thoughts you might have on the subject. You may be as creative, fancy, or as laid back with your tea time as you wish!
Do you have a favourite teacup/teapot or mug that you would like to share with us today? I would love to see it and I'm sure others would too!
As a courtesy, please link back to me so that your visitors may find their way here to visit with all my lovely participants.

ReplyDeleteand I think the author of Pooh bear had a Proper tea like this one here in mind Sandi. It looks more than splendid. Who wouldn't like to sit down to a decent cup of Darjeeling or English Breakfast tea with these lovely bits of crockery to use.
keep well
Amanda :-)

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteYes, a love hate relationship goes along with my female side and computers. Your little creamer is lovely, admiring the blue and white butterflies and dragonflies
I skyped with Victoria this am, and she showed me all the wind and snow whirling about in PEI, dreadful looking day and cold as well.
Thank you for sharing. I'd love to join in however living in an RV you don't travel with all your pink, pretties, and hearts. Your sponge cake looks so yummy, oh and great find on two bouquets, so nice.

How stunning are those pictures. I love the idea of a tea party and always thought I would collect tea pots and tea cups. It never happened and thank goodness because I would have no place to really display them.
ReplyDeleteMy wedding favors were tea cups and saucers with tea bags and shortbread because I think they are so sweet.
My blue's are here
Your tea looks so inviting! I love the bright and beautiful flowers. I'm really looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteGood morning sandi, hope your mother is feeling better soon. Just going to say the snow is all gone here and looked up and it's snowing. Sandy. It is always so heart warming to visit your postings on tea. This one is so beautiful with your lovely new tea set in blue and white flowers. The yellow tulips annd roses in the basket make an excellent choice for your tea table. I hope your Mother is better and the computer woes have subsided. I have the same feelings about the computer and when it goes wrong I call "HELP", my husband, computer guru. When I'm out and see someone admiring teacups or teapots I share with them about your beautiful blog so they can experience it, too. Thanks for your kind thoughts while visiting.
ReplyDeletePam

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteIt sure is cold-a hard first day back to work for your hubby!
Hope your Mom is doing better now.
I would love a piece of your sponge cake-I better go and do some baking,I'm all out of treats!
Nice to find more pieces of your blue and white-love Homesense too.
Take you for hosting,
Carolyn
I just found you through Deanna at Home Haven Ministry. I'm so glad I did. I love tea and something sweet. If I can watch a Jane Austen movie or read a Jane Austen book at the same time as I'm enjoying my tea - all the better! I look forward to getting to know you through your blog.
ReplyDeleteHope your mother is better! Stay warm~
ReplyDeleteHey Sandi, this looks marvelous - I know this winter has been tough on some - Spring is just around the corner. I didn't see the LINKY - I'll be back later.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathy
Hi Sandi! What a joy to catch up with all our tea ladies this week. I actually prepped my post last Friday as I'm teaching Monday and Tuesday this semester and trying to post early in the week is a disaster. However, I fear I may be stopping in less often. What a luxury I am finding Blogging to be - but such a grand place to escape to! Now - about your blue and white and butterflies in the cup - lovely! You cake looks wonderful - sort of like an Angel Food cake. Would love a slice, please! Also, love the Queen's spoon - I was born that year - 1959! Looking forward to visiting again, soon!!
ReplyDeleteJoy!
Kathy
I always love tea time here, and today the extra treat is you're featuring my favorite color, blue! The flowers really do add a spot of sunshine to the table, especially this time of the year.Lovely !

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found that beautiful addition to your blue and white china!
It looks so lovely with the yellow flowers.
As usual, you have blessed us with a very pretty tea-time!
love..Trish
Ah well, too late to the party! It seems whenever I am at work, linky parties don't show up - must be some kind of filter at work. Usually, I am home on Mondays to be able to get in...there's always next week, :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathy
Sandi, your blue and white is so pretty. Now that is my kind of cake. I am much more a white cake than a chocolate cake kind of gal. The strawberries and cream, YUM! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
