Hello ladies and welcome to my St. Patricks Day Tea!
Since it is a big day in Ireland this week, I thought I would share a wee bit of green with you. My hubby is half Irish and proud of it, I might add! I have a wee bit of Irish in me too. Actually, I'm English with a bit of German and some Irish-Scotch mixed in for good measure. I suppose I'm more like a mutt but that's OK; even we mutts like a cup of tea!
Please come in and make yourselves comfy and I'll pour you some green tea. The leprechauns are dancing a little Irish jig; they're so happy to see you... St. Patricks Day is coming, you know!
Speaking of an Irish jig, did you see Celtic Thunder last night on PBS? The boys danced a charming jig at the end of the show, didn't they?
May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.~ Old Irish Blessing
My little fairy, Breena, has also joined us today. She has arrived, dressed in pink and wearing posies in her locks. Her lovely wings are just a-sparklin!
As I have already mentioned, we are having tea using my green tea things today. Green tea is waiting to be poured from my little green and cream teapot, and if you wish, there is Irish Breakfast tea too.
"Ireland~ Land of Heart's Desire,
Where beauty has no ebb, decay no flood,
But joy is wisdom, time an endless song." ~ William Butler Yeats
This sweet little teapot which holds my favourite green chai tea, is a creamy white with raised roses on a delicate green background. It is accompanied by the matching milk jug and sugar which I found just recently. I've had the teapot for a while and I was so pleased to find the milk jug and sugar bowl too!
These pieces are all unmarked; no stamp to indicate who made them. All three pieces have raised roses on them and I love the petaled handles. The sugar bowl comes with its own wee spoon. One cannot tell from the photos but each of the petals on the handles has a green polka dot in the center. Then there is this teacup.
This hand painted teacup you have seen before but because it is green, it came to the party today. I love the beautiful green colour and the sweet pink rosebuds!
Tea is liquid wisdom~ Anonymous
I am also sharing this tea for one set and the matching mugs. They're green with florals and butterflies. They just say Spring to me!
The cup is very large for someone who wants a generous cup of tea.
The mugs hold a nice amount of tea or coffee too.
I've saved this green set for last. Hubby gave me this trio for Valentines Day. It is a Maxwell and Williams pattern and has a sprinkling of flowers and butterflies, finished off with a lovely soft green band. It is made of porcelain and the pattern is called Butterfly Garden.
It's fresh and pretty with a sweet little butterfly inside the cup. Just right for the upcoming season!
Ireland~ A land passionate for its music, literature, and dance.
Time is a great storyteller.~ An old Irish proverb
Now, let's enjoy some tea, shall we? I have baked a wee cake for the occasion and even though it's not green, it is a soft landing for my little fairy.
Breena looks on as we partake of our tea. Being the busy little sprite that she is, she flits from one place to another. Just like her fairy friend, Tinkerbell, she is as light as a breeze and can fly from her perch on top of the cake to wherever she pleases. Here, she is admiring the teacup.
Now, I know what you're thinking! This looks more like a Spring tea, what with the birdhouse and all but Spring is coming, in fact it arrives next week!
Now, I know what you're thinking! This looks more like a Spring tea, what with the birdhouse and all but Spring is coming, in fact it arrives next week!
So, please do come back again next week, as we celebrate my favourite season; Spring!
Next week, I will also be joining Kathy at A Delightsome Life for her party too; Celebrate Spring With Victoria. See Kathy's button on my sidebar.
Would you care for a slice of my pound cake with whipped pink icing? Yum!!

A Victoria magazine and a cup of tea; what could be nicer!
Thank you for stopping by to have tea with me and my little fairy friend, Breena. I hope you have enjoyed my wee bit of green, even though there was no Irish music, the fairies and leprechauns were here!
May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore. ~ Irish Blessing

ReplyDeleteOh, Sandi, your teapot and teacups are just so gorgeous. I Just bought two of the Maxwell and Williams teacups, saucers and plates sets, one of the patterns which has the green edges is very similar to yours and yet the flowers are not quite the same. I love yours though. It's good to hear from you, I'm still trying to get all my favourites back due to our upgrade to a new computer. The old had all my favourites like your blogsite.
