Welcome friends to Spiritual Sundays hosted by Charlotte and Ginger!
Not many things in life are as timely and precious as the Bible. It is our road map and God's love letter to His children.
I have so many favourite verses and these are just a few.
This verse is very helpful if I'm having a hard day or stressed over something. This verse helps me to focus on what is important.
"Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things." - Philippians 4:8
The following verse reminds me that when I am in need of something, He will answer.
"But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing." - Psalm 34:10
"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:19
When I feel I have done something to offend God or another.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1: 9
This verse is a reminder of how to walk in His ways.
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." - Colossians 3:17
When I'm feeling weak or helpless:
"I can do all things through Him who strengths me." - Philippians 4:13
Another favourite:
"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no one comes to the Father, but through Me." - John 14:6
When I don't know how to pray for my children I quote these verses from Colossians 1: 9-12.
"... I ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light."
The scriptures above are certainly not all of my favourites but just a few.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever." - Isaiah 40:8
"Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path." - Psalm 119:105
Wishing you a wonderful weekend in His presence. God bless you!

ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, What a wonderful post. Have you ever read The Shack or Bo's Cafe, they are stories of people who used to believe in God and lost their way and how they found him again. They were wonderful to read. The Shack was my favorite. Have a wonderful weekend and take care.
ReplyDeleteHis Word that will never fade...Amen! Have a great weekend sister Sandi! God bless.
ReplyDeletePhilippians 4: 8 is on a plaque which hangs in our backdoor entrance. It is our hope that all who enter will keep those thoughts in mind. Thanks for your posting.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteThese are some awesome bible verses. The bible is wonderful. I remember when my oldest Uncle passed on and my other uncle, my aunt, my parents, and me were cleaning out his apartment. I said to them I want all the bibles because my Uncle was very religious in the last ten years of his life! Well, when we were done cleaning. I had about ten bibles. I asked if anyone wanted some and they said no. So at my Uncle's memorial mass, I gave six of them to his church for people who needed bibles. I have a favorite one of his. It's a study bible by Max Lucado. It's awesome. What a wonderful tool.
Happy Sabbath,
Amanda

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite verse is Philippians 4:8...whatever is true etc..That was one of the memory verses on my blog awhile back :) :) Try putting that on a card and putting that on top of your tv :) :) :) I've done that, and it really helps me to strive to live a godly lifestyle in all things that I do...even watching television!!...but that's just me.. :) :) Jesus Christ is where it's at...and so is reading the Bible and learning Scripture. Thanks for sharing these, Sandi!!!! Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

The scripture always has a power to it. Right now it has been making me re-evaluate many things.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi!
ReplyDeleteOh You hit so many verses that I use in my daily life over and over again!!! I am so glad that I have memorized so many of them and that the LORD brings them to mind in my time of need. One that he has used in the past 2 years... when I am weak, he is made strong...
I can see him giving me the strength and peace to go through all the trials w/o fretting!
