Hello friends and welcome to my 11th Tea Time Tuesday! Spring is here and with it comes new growth, song birds, and warmer temperatures.
On Sunday morning, I was thrilled to look out the window and see my beloved Gold finches at the feeder! They are back early this year, no doubt because of the warmer weather we've been having. These aren't my gold finches in the photo but I thought I would share a photo of these adorable little yellow birds. Their plummage is so beautiful and they are very entertaining little birds. Today I am sharing my mother's Lavender Rose china. This pretty pattern also reminds me of Springtime. The tiny pink roses that adorn the teacups and other pieces of china are just so dainty; like tiny rose gardens all by themselves! This fine bone china is made in England by Royal Albert. Sorry the stamp isn't clearer!
The little silver spoon I am using was my youngest son's baby spoon. It is made by Oneida and I'm so happy to be able to put it to good use again. I miss the baby though!
This lovely lady which is made by Royal Dalton is also my mother's. As you can see, her frock is sprinkled with roses and is also the Lavender Rose pattern. Her name is Shirley. She stands very gracefully as though twirling; reminds me of the twirling scene in "You've Got Mail" which I watched over the weekend. It is one of my favourite movies! Springtime often finds us making plans for our gardens.Have you ever come out of the grocery store or flower shop and said to yourself, "Someday I'm going to grow my own vegetables and flowers?" Perhaps it was price, quality, or the frustration of standing in line to pay that gave you this urge.
Then "someday" finally came, and you found yourself on your hands and knees in the backyard- digging, fertilizing, planting, watering, pruning, and weeding. A small piece of land became a much-loved, well-tended oasis.
Have you noticed what happens when you garden? Your joints ache, your fingernails break, sweat rolls off of you, and your hands and clothes get full of dirt. But something happens to your spirit as well.
A pursuit like gardening teaches us patience, redefines our definition of beauty, and gives us confidence in our ability to do something constructive. As we learn to care for something besides ourselves, we have more to give to others when we put aside our hoes and trowels and return to our "other" world.
One of the best places to go after a hard day of work is home...to the garden! {Excerpts from Tea Time With God}
"Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you." - Hosea 10:12
Thank you for stopping by for tea today. If you wish to participate, please let me know in your comment and I will add your link to my post. Please share a favourite teacup, tea pot, or a piece of china. A scripture verse or short story would also be most welcome.
Lady Katherine who also has a Tea Time meme, celebrated a birthday yesterday. If you would like to send her a Birthday blessing, just click on the link: http://ladykatherineteaparlor.blogspot.com/

Hi there ~ I love your mother's tea set - it is truly lovely. The cream and sugar have such a pretty shape. Oh, and I adore the gorgeous twirling lady that matches!! How beautiful - Royal Albert always does make nice dishes.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed how beautifully your rose background matches your header - don't know if it is fairly new or maybe I'm just noticing it. LoL.
Hoping your Resurrection Day was truly blessed...

Oh Sandi! this is some beautiful china! Love all of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I couldn't agree more with gardening. There go my fingernails. There is that left knee that hurts hen pressure is applied. There is the arthritis in my spine flaring up. but, there I am at peace with my surroundings even if it is just turned over dirt.
I hope your Easter was wonderful! I love your beautiful tea set, and your Dalton Lady!! I have several of these too!! Is that a lemon tart I see on the cake stand - I do hope so, it's my favourite!!!

Hello Sandi
ReplyDeleteYour mother's china is so pretty, more pink roses!
I am sad to say my mother never collected anything or had any china. I envy the ladies that have cherished inherited treasures. My daughters will get my china some day and I hope they will like it enough to keep.
So true about gardening - when I'm outside weeding, planting, deadheading; I forget about everything else and even to come in for lunch most times.
The garden is a therapeutic place where we can forget our troubles and tend to nourishing our souls.

Second : thank you very very much for your comments on my last painting. It is very appreciated even if I think maybe I do not deserve them. I am happy to share my passion with my blogging friends.
Have a nice day and forthcoming weekend.

Hi, Sandi,
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to your blogs - I found you on Helene's blog. Your Tea Time Tuesday is a delight and I will visit this blog often. But it is also because of your Spirit Song blog that I know the Lord has introduced you to me.
I read your earlier posts because we both have chronic conditions. I have Chiari Malformation with Syringomyelia, and Fibromyalgia. I was checked for MG last August before I had surgery for the CM and was found to not have it, but I have symptoms that appeared to be MG, such as a droopy eyelid.
I had the surgery and it seemed to help at first, but the symptoms returned and I feel like I did before surgery. It is my hope that the surgery at least stopped the symptoms from getting worse.
Having a chronic condition isn't fun, as you know, but I am closer to the Lord then I was before, relying on Him each day and trusting Him with my life as well as the lives of my family.
Sorry, this is getting long. I read a little on your Spirit Song blog but it looked like you hadn't been there for awhile, so I am leaving my message to you here. I will love to visit your blogs more and to get to know you better.
Blessings to you,
Laurie
Truly lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Sandi.
