Autumn's robust richness is reflected in everything from our radiant decor to our seasonal cuisine, and gatherings with friends and family abound during this celebatory time of year. ~ Victoria Holiday Bliss magazine
Welcome friends to another Tea Time Tuesday ~
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends~
I am posting a little early today because of the holiday. Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving Day here in Canada; a day we gather together around the table which is laden with a bounty of food, including a favourite of mine, pumpkin pie.
It's a day in which to give thanks to our Creator for all of His wonderful blessings.
"...in everything give thanks." ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18
I am thankful for so many things; the love of my family and good friends, my home, and good food on the table. Although I have several health issues, I am thankful for the health I do enjoy. It can always be worse! Most of all, I thank Him for His love and what He has done for me.
This week, I am sharing a special tea I had about a week ago with two of my favourite people; my sweet Auntie P and Uncle Doug. Auntie P is a retired nurse and Uncle Doug is a retired policeman; two special people who care very much about others.
I am thankful for loved ones...
The photo above was taken this past Summer while we were on vacation. They had taken Hubby and me to Fundy National Park to see St. Martins. St. Martins is a small village in New Brunswick, Canada where the shore is covered in beautiful stone instead of sand. Some of this stone was gathered by my parents to build the fireplace in their first home.
Isn't it pretty? I love the different hues.
Isn't it pretty? I love the different hues.
You may not know this about me but I collect rocks. Yes, I do. I have rocks from different countries from around the world that my children and aunt and uncle have brought back to me. One thing I have always wanted to do is travel through the States and collect rocks from each state I visit. As of right now, I only have a rock from Florida, California, and Maine. I would love to be able to collect a rock from each state or some very unique ones.
Anyway, enough about rocks, on to my tea....Auntie P is not only my aunt but a very dear friend. She and Uncle Doug had come over to the Island for a little tour and a visit with me. They also brought me a little something which I will share in next week's post.
It is not often I get to visit with my beloved relatives because we live in two different provinces. So, it is always a treat when we can get together.
I set the tea table with an assortment of red and pink china because of the red roses which were the focal point.
I am thankful for beautiful flowers...
My raspberry coloured goblets held spring water.
I used Royal Albert Lavender Rose teacups and Burleigh Victorian Chintz salad plates.
I am thankful for beautiful china...
I served the nibbles on my two tiered cake stand.
The King's Crown jug makes a pretty container for holding my little spoons, don't you think?
I used a King's Crown sherbet dish and my son's silver baby spoon for holding some lovely home made strawberry-apple sauce.
The teapot was filled with a nice hot orange pekoe tea. This teapot I also use for coffee and hot chocolate. I love its pretty floral pattern and ruffled bottom.
Love the curvy handle...
and the elegant spout...
There were blueberry and cranberry muffins as well as croissants filled with egg salad.
I am thankful for good food...
and pretty teacups...
We really had a lovely visit and afterwards these dear ones left on a tour of the Island.
Sharing tea with friends or loved ones is a delightful respite.
I had a little accident after they left!
I always wash my fine china by hand, piece by piece. When I was cleaning up after our tea, I lifted a teacup up out of the dishwater to clean it, and to my dismay, the bottom had cracked out of one of the teacups. This was quite a disappointment, as you can imagine, because it had belonged to my mother and of course, it is costly to replace. So, what did I do? I glued the bottom back on to the teacup and set a votive candle in it. So now I have a beautiful teacup candle to enjoy. No use in crying over it.
I am thankful for being able to look on the bright side and create something lovely out of something broken...
Life comes at us with a cornucopia full of surprises; some good, some not so good. But it's how we receive the surprises that shape us into who we are. I'm thankful to God who has my best interests at heart and He promises to take care of me come what may. Yes, I am truly blessed!
"Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence." ~ Jeremiah 17:7
I am simply delighted you have come for tea today and I would love for you to join my Tea Time Tuesday party! Perhaps you have a favourite tea cup, teapot, or a coffee mug you would like to share with us.
I would love to see it! If you would rather do coffee instead of tea, that would be fine. The following is acceptable too: apple cider, iced tea or iced coffee, hot chocolate, lemonade, or punch.
The TTT button on my sidebar is available for you to use in your post or place on your sidebar if you wish. A poem, tea quote, or scripture verse would be more than welcome!
Please link back to me so your visitors may find their way here to visit with all my lovely participants.
I am pleased to join the following parties as well~

Everything looks so beautiful. I hope You and Your Family A Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHello lovely lady,
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful, and cheerful, Thanks Giving post dear Sandi! I'm so delighted that you had such a wonderful and heartwarming visit with your aunt and uncle.
Everything is just so pretty and yummy looking, yet I am especially fond of your tea/coffee/hot chocolate pot!.., So pretty with all of it's lovely curvacious, floral details.
Hope you're feeling better and that as you enjoy a bountiful feast with your family as well.
Thanks for visiting my blog and your sweet words. You are always so kind and faithful in your blogging; (hope your technical woes with commenting on some blogs clears up soon; it is indeed so frustrating at times with Blogger); yet what a blessing overall!..,
Great use of your poor little broken teacup! Teacup candles are always so beautiful and cast such a warm glow.
Happy Thanks Giving to you and yours dear lady!
Hugs, Wanda Lee
Hi Sandy
ReplyDeleteI won't be linking with you for tea this week as we're still at our daughter's and leave for home after lunch. Your tea is very enjoyable, nice to see your lovely auntie and uncle.
When we were in PEI several years ago, I brought home several red clay stones as they're quite unique.
The stones you showed are the same type that lined the shore at the cottage on Lake Huron where we stayed this summer - quite a number of these smooth stones came away with me as well.
Happy Thanksgiving and I'll rejoin you next week.
Judith
Sandi:
ReplyDeleteAs I am not an official blogger..I must leave this special comment. Sandi, You touch my heart as you show your love for us. How wonderful it is to be loved and to love someone special. Sandi and Gerry you are really special to us. Us oldies need love too just as much s the young tender heart.
I loved your tea pot you served tea in this week and your lunch was so tasty. I'm so very thankful for a niece who knows how to express her love in hugs as well as actions of making a lovely tea. Sorry about your tea cup but like you said those things happen. Crystal glasses as sensitive to dishwashers but never have seen china break before. Thanks for a lovely TTT. We're about to enjoy a thanksgiving dinner complete with pumpkin pie....Love you...Auntie P & Uncle D
Dear Sandi,
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I love how you made a sweet tea time with your Aunt and Oncle. Your china is so pretty, the big tea pot is beautiful. And surely all the Royal Albert china and your Chintz pattern also. The pebble stones are so smooth and pretty colored. I think, they are more beautiful when wet. I always love such stones, too. I am thankful for having the chance to participate in such nice events like Tea Time Tuesday.
Best greetings, Johanna
Sandi, Your tea is special today and I'm glad I was able to join in. I love your positive outlook on life. You have a beautiful spirit! Love your King's crown, rose chintz and your stunning pink goblets. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHugs and prayers,
Beth
Sandi, a couple of things: I can mail you a rock from Iowa if you like - email me your address...Also, the issue with blogger and commenting - I have a possible solution. Sign in to your google account with your user name and password BEFORE going in to blogs to comment. It seemed to work for me. Best wishes!

More importantly, I appreciated your comment about taking the broken cup and making it into something beautiful. Isn't that comment applicable to so many things in life!

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteYour post just touches my heart. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. What a lovely couple your Aunt and Uncle are and what a delightful tea you shared with your gorgeous teacups and King's Crown accents. Your table is always
beautiful, warm and inviting.
Love your teapot for coffee, chocolate or tea.
I too love those rocks and we use some very similar to make a little beach area around our pool. I call it Stoney beach. LOL
It is interesting to know that you collect rocks. I think there are beautiful rocks and stones in the world. I love to paint on rocks too.
I am so sorry your teacup bottom broke out. But like you said, something pretty still to be enjoyed from a little mishap. Life just goes that way sometime. My mother always said, "we have to take the bitter with the sweet in life."
I so hope your health issues are less in the coming year.
Thank you for sharing your tea time and hope your Thanksgiving day was filled with time enjoyed with family and friends.
Blessings, Celestina Marie

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI loved the beautiful table you set for your adorable aunt and uncle. Thanks for sharing their photos.
I'm one of the lovers of your tea pot or coffee pot. It's a very elegant object!
As to the broken tea cup, I wouldn't throw it away either, being so pretty
and bringing memories of your mother...
And the way you reused it was very creative, indeed!
Do you know I also like rocks? I don't really collect them but when I find a beautiful stone on the beach or fossils, I always bring them home.
Hugs

Hi my Sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteI am so remiss at not getting over here sooner and thank you for your sweet comments last week. I now have an ipad and it makes it harder for me to see my friends posts and I often have to come to our other computer to find out whats going on, which isn't to often, I am afraid. Anyway, a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and our Friend up north of the USA, Canada!
I love reading about your beloved family too and the wonderful times you have spent with them.
And of course, I always LOVE coming by and seeing your beautiful TEA displays and yummy treats. Loving so much of your china and that butter dish... hmmm I have butter dish envy...well in a good way, lol...ahhh Rose Chintz!
Hope this finds you well my sweet friend! I must get my act together a join back up for your Tea Partys soon.
Love and Hugs,
Lorena

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you, Sandi!
ReplyDeleteYour pumkin pie looks delicious.
It's lovely to see a photo of your beloved Aunt P and Uncle Doug :-)
Your King's Crown jug intrigues me - I have 6 goblets and a dish that matches it perfectly, but I thought it was called Americana ware!
I bought mine at a "party" more than 30 years ago.
There's so much loveliness in this post that I can't pick a favourite item from all you've shared with us lol!
That teapot is a stunner though!
I think your idea of transforming your precious broken cup is brilliant!
It looks so pretty with a candle in it :-)
I'm like you - I love stones too!
My favourites are 2 that were brought back from Israel.
Thanks for linking up, dear Sandi.
I hope you have a wonderful week of blessings..Trish
