Today is Canada Day here in Canada, and I thought I would share some of the things I love most about Summer. Although Spring is my favourite season, Summer is a close second for many reasons....
1. I love Summer because of the long evenings and the glorious sunsets! This is my son & his wife at one of our many beaches.
2. I love the smell of freshly cut grass and the scent of flowers in the air. 3. I love open windows, letting in the warm breath of Summer. I also love the look of lace blowing in the breeze. There is something very nostalgic about that!4. I love the lullaby of leaves on the trees. They always sound to me like they are praising God. This is my youngest son walking his brother's dog through the trees.
5. I love my roses.
6. I love gardens.7. I love strawberries.8. I love clothes hanging on the clothesline. {borrowed from the internet}9. I love the sound of wind chimes tinkling in the breeze.
10. Summertime means wearing capris, t-shirts, and hats which are my favourite apparel this time of year.
11. I love wearing sandals and flip-flops, and painting pretty nail polish on my tootsies.
12. I love the sound of the song birds singing outside my window; especially early in the morning.
I also love watching the birds at the feeders and in the trees behind our house. When they leave in the Autumn, I really miss them.13. I love watching the butterflies flutter about. I've been fascinated with them ever since I was a little girl.
14. I love watching the twinkle of fireflies. They are like tiny points of light dancing magically in the cloak of night.
15. I love the hum of the bumble bees among the blooms.16. I enjoy going to tea rooms and driving through little villages.
17. I love shopping at the little craft and antique shops that are open in the summertime.
18. I love dining al fresco and having barbeques.
19. I love sitting out on the deck and sipping coffee or iced tea.
20. I love the sound of children playing outdoors.
21. I love the beach and the feel of warm sand between my toes! We have the best beaches here on the Island!
22. I love listening to the sound of the white-laced waves lapping on the shore.
23. I love watching the clouds drift by and letting my imagination wander.... So serene!24. A quiet spot on the beach is where I often feel the closest to my Creator. I love the peace and tranquility of it all. There are no walls, just wide open spaces where I am surrounded by the beauty of His creation. He is there, smiling and enjoying the moment with me.
25. I love the slower pace of life in the summertime. It is a sweet time, and folks just seem to be in a happier frame of mind.
How about you? What do you love about Summer?

Beautiful pictures and very interesting posting.
ReplyDeleteHello Sandi:
ReplyDeleteIt was fun seeing all the people with their red and whites on today. Our fireworks after dark were spectacular and during the day we had Sunfest Days. Lots of hot dogs, hamburgs and pop plus the cotton candy for the wee folks or those who thought themselves young. Good music in the park and friends we haven't seen in a long time. Happy Canada Day Everyone. We are proud to be Canadians.....Auntie P
I think you and I may be kindred spirits ! I love all of the same things you do.

Hi Sandi! I loved your post. You hit so many things right on the head with your loves. I love the sound of children laughing and running through the sprinklers. I love smelling the BBQ's as folks come outside to sit. I love the beautiful skies that we see, and the fact that we have light a lot longer than in the winter months. I envy you being able to have laundry on the line and windows open, here in Phoenix, that will never happen. Thanks for stopping by Country Wings in Phoenix. "Country Hugs", Sherry
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great 4th of July weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHappy b day to Canada. I love the lazy feel of summertime. I love the way it stays light later. I love icy fruit shakes. I love sitting at the beach and reading. I love fresh fruit and veggies and herbs. Those are my favorites--I can do a lot of what you said you love year round here in SC ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love this post, Sandi! It is filled with gorgeous photographs. I especially like the beach shots, and the beach shot I like best is the one with your son and daughter-in-law.

Years ago when our girls were young we visited Canada and we went to this parade. It was their independance day! and someone approached us and asked if our daughter could be in the parade;we shared we are not from Canada and they said it was okay. So she held a banner and through the parade she walked. We took pictures and had a fun time!
