Apple Crisp....A Different Version

Good Morning ~ We had our Bible Study Wednesday evening and I had made an apple crisp for refreshments afterwards. It is a challenge every week to come up with something because one of our ladies is extremely allergic to many things, especially eggs! This particular recipe makes enough to feed sixteen people which is just enough to feed our group. It is a little different, in that it does not call for oatmeal but a cake mix instead. It is quick and very easy to make and everyone likes it better than the old-fashioned kind. I thought I would share the recipe with you.
"Cinnamon Apple Crisp"
6 Granny Smith apples, sliced
{I only had two Granny Smiths, so I used four Cortlands}
1 cup of water
1 box of white cake mix
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of ground cloves
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
Arrange sliced apples in an ungreased 9x13 pan. Pour water over the apples. In a separate bowl, combine cake mix, brown sugar, spices, and melted butter. Stir until blended and the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle crumb mixture over the apples.
Bake @350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Yield: 16 servingsTry it ...you'll like it! Have a great day everyone! Hugs ~ Sandi

  1. Thank you for this recipe. I was going to make apple crisp today and now I can try something new. :)

    It's always hard to accomodate for people who have allergic reactions to foods when you are cooking for a large group.

    Hope you have a GREAT weekend!!

    Hugs & Blessings,
